Harley brake system modifications for a right leg amputee.

    Very nice bike!! I am also a AK right leg amputee , I started riding 2 years ago ( in my country is hard to convince people that an amputee can ride) and I dont have rear break modification , I only use the front brake ( I know , it's not very safe ) but I found a mechanic who will modify the break . My biggest fear is and will always be....dropping the bike . How you manage to keep your bike up in slow traffic ? ( I dont have a C-Leg , now I am using the 3R80 from OttoBock)

    I'm also a right leg amputee. But was wondering if there was a way to keep the rear brake foot operated. But on the left side, opposite side of the shifter peg.

    I am an above knee amputee and I currently ride a spyder because I bought a bike while on deployment well I had my wife get it for me and I lost my leg to a suicide bomber the next week so I was afraid to learn to ride with only one leg but I would certainly switch to a harley trike if I could ever afford one but right now I use the semi automatic transmission that comes with the can am spyder because I have total loss of use of my left leg below the knee so I wear a brace so I cannot actually move my foot up or down I can only use my hip flexor. Anyway so I have concerns about that if I were to switch and you have to push in the clutch and the back brake at the same time right ? And they're on the same side I dunno I might just stick with my spyder I just like that harley is american and I love the way they look honestly !

      The short answer is ABSOLUTELY. I've been riding one arm for 40 years, above elbow amputee left arm. My current ride is a 2001 Nightain. But, truth be told I'm a died in the wool Kawasaki man, a long story I will not bore you with.
      With the most of the bikes I've had, I moved the clutch to the right side and ran both brakes off the pedal with a double banjo bolt on the rear master cylinder and a Willwood proportioning valve between the master cylinder and the rear break. The propositioning valve is added to keep the rear brake from locking up. Works fine and once dialed in and doesn't lock of the rear wheel, assuming you're not beating the ass off the bike or doing anything foolish. Which I know we all do from time to time, but this set up works and that was even in my early 20's when I was hot rodding around on a KZ1000. I got about 200K miles of experience with it on everything from a 480 lbs KZ650 to a 750 lbs 1200 Voyager, a full faring, truck and hard bag touring bike as well as a coupe of more in between. It is not without issue, to wit: one master cylinder means brake failure is total. Frankly this has never really happened to me. The other issue is backing up the bike on grade can get a little crazy or sitting at a light on grade means you need to keep the clutch on, also not good.
      On the Harley I bought a couple of years ago I tried something different. I was tired of backing the bike up on grade being an adventure or having to hold in the clutch when stopped on a significant grade at a light. I installed a hydraulic clutch. Because everything on my bike needs to be on the right, I used the front brake master cylinder for the clutch and took the leaver/master cylinder that came with the clutch kit and hung it backwards, off the existing handle bars in such a way that the ball of the leaver is about an inch under the right bilker. I also switched the brakes so that that from brake is on the pedal, and the rear brake is above so that the rear brake is basically a thumb brake. The advantages are; obviously more brakes, able to stop on an incline with both feet on the ground and I can back up on grade without it getting exciting.
