Yeah, unless the places those balloons go to are controlled and specifically sent to another school or people the staff know for certain are good people, this project wasn't the best idea.

As I clicked on this video I was laying on my bed, I heard a weird sound outside. I looked and my parents car was not here, they hadn't told me where they had gone. I paused the video before anything happened. I went around the house calling them to see if i was alone. And then I went back to my room and laid back down and played the video and then you said, " I hope you are in a warm and safe place." Or something along those lines. I got chills and kept watching. About 10 minutes after the video i heard footsteps.. I thought i could have been only imagining things. My parents came back about 2 or 3 hours later I lost track while watching tv.I was relieved to see they had finally came home. I usually think nothing about it until I stumbled across the video again and watched it. And I have not idea why but I got chills again. Because I remember the footsteps.. no body was in the house and all my animals were outside. Nothing was in the house to make those kinds of footsteps. I don't know it feels weird typing this because no one will believe me but oh well. I still could have been only imagining the sounds, maybe I got paranoid.

We wrote our letters, introducing ourselves, thanking them, etc. About a month later I'm helping my teacher clear out her cabinets for some candy and I see a big stack of letters. I read this story four years ago and I definitely agree. At first it's very creepy, but when everything comes together at the end it's downright horrifying because of how sad and disturbing it is.
bunk beds are lit cause if you want to make a bed blanket fort you can if you wanted to i have like two blankets covering the left side (if you are in the bed) and an empty side on the right. but i can cover the right side however it gets hit easily
lots of single children have bunk beds if they have cousins or friends who visit a lot and it's easier than getting out a sleeping bag or an air mattress. my cousin used to sleep on a bunk bed even though she was the only one using it. plus, some kids really love the idea of climbing up into bed so they really want bunk beds regardless whether someone else is there, and some parents indulge them both for reasons of guests and to make them happy. i know my little brother always tried to convince my parents into getting him a bunk bed even though we never shared a room, lol.
**SPOILERS / VERY LONG** Summary of the story for those of you who can't find time to finish it: The MC later gets a cat named Boxes that tends to hide in crawl spaces in his house. He moved to a new house when he was ten, still staying in touch with Josh. One day, Boxes runs away, prompting him and Josh to search his old house in hopes that Boxes was hiding in one of the crawl spaces. The MC searched the crawl spaces while Josh looked around the house, using walkie talkies to communicate. The MC found a huge amount of dead animals, along with a blanket and cat food hidden in the crawl space. Josh found the MC's old clothes, which were originally packed in abandoned moving boxes, hung up neatly in his closet. Soon after, they discover someone else was in the house with them, causing them to make a run for it back to Josh's house. When the MC prompted his mother about this as an adult, she said: "I never fucking put cat food and a blanket under there," which explained why they moved so suddenly. Someone was living in their old house with them when he was a child. Boxes was never found. Before the crawl space incident, the MC and Josh used to make maps of their neighborhood around the lake in hopes of finding a place where their houses connected. This resulted in forest expeditions, leading he and Josh to the same exact place with the shark floaty the MC saw when he woke up in the forest as a child. However, there was a recently dug hole next to it, camouflaged in the ground. The MC's mom became strict about how long he and Josh could adventure out in the woods, so they slowly dropped the project. When they were waiting for Josh's father to pick him up outside the house, Josh began to apologize for being so distant. He said he was sorry for not bringing a gift, but he had a great idea for a present that he could bring next year. He said he hadn't been sleeping well, which was probably why he was acting off. Before Josh left with his father, he said: "I think I've been sleep walking." Those were the last words the MC ever heard from Josh. After Veronica died, her mother became unstable after losing another child. Her husband, who used to travel for high paying construction jobs, opted to take low paying construction jobs in the area to take care of his wife. One day, he was offered 100 bucks from a gruff man to fill holes in the ground dug by teenagers. While he was doing so, he hit something hard in the ground with his shovel. Upon digging it out, he found a sort of coffin. He called over the MC's mom, not knowing who else to turn to, after seeing the horrifying site inside the coffin. Only as an adult, did the MC find out from his mother, that Josh's body was hidden in that coffin, with the gruff man's dead body on top of him. Josh's hair, which used to be blonde, was dyed dark brown, just like the MC's, and wore small clothes despite his large body. In short, when the MC released his balloon, it reached a stalker who became obsessed with him. He hid in his house, using cameras in the forest to take Polaroid pictures of him. He tried to kidnap him and bury him in the forest as a child, but he managed to escape. He watched the MC for years on end, killing Veronica when she got close to him and manipulating her texts so he could sit next to the MC at the theater. The stalker decided to settle with Josh, kidnapping him when he presumably went into the forest to finish his map which he planned to give to the MC for his next birthday, leaving a forged note that made it seem like he ran away, and forcing him to dress like the MC before suffocating to death in the coffin with him as well. I definitely recommend reading through the story in detail. I left out a few like Mrs. Maggie and the rafting parts just because I didn't think they contributed to the ending all that much.
Aw man, how long does this story date back? I think I only ever remember the part about Boxes running away and then finding the dead animals. But that was waaay back when I was like 12

I just finished reading it, and it's such a good story. The ending was sad and what made the story even sadder was the fact that this type of thing could happen in real life.

Good think you haven't heard the reading that's the entire work of the storie. Look up Penpal creepy. It's 10 minutes short of 3 hours long. It's worth the listen and is creepy, but it's so good and interesting. I do suggest listening in the daytime

I recently read the whole story and god, it left me broken. I had to just stare at a wall for a while and cry I 100000% recommend reading the full thing, or listen to Mrcreepypastas wonderful reading of you have a few hours to kill! It’s so well written.

I’ve heard a very similar story called “footsteps”. It’s the same story but much less eloquently worded than this. I prefer this, honestly. The slightly more fancy wording makes it feel more spooky.
idk my dreams are weird mn. one time, I was in that half-asleep-half-dreaming state (not sleep paralysis necessarily) and something went "psst!" in my ear and I woke up, looked around, saw nothing, and grumbled, "god damnit, y'all, go to sleep!" and then went back to sleep myself. there wasn't another incident that night, so I can only assume that "they" went to sleep or whatever.
Oh this reminded me of a pleasant memory! I was in kindergarten where we did a similar thing, we each wrote a note, rumor has it if someone receives your letter your wish you wrote will come true. I remember fighting with my peers over who geht's the pink balloon, anyway my wish was that, "I one day find a really good friend/have lots of them" and a drew a small picture too, of me and my imaginary friend. It was a amazing sight seeing all the balloons flying through the sky, a lot of them unfortunately got lost on the way, or people just didn't respond. I was the only lucky one who got a reply, turns out a young couple has found my balloon in their backyard, hanging on a tree. They wrote me a letter back, praying that my wish comes true, under that was a picture of my letter being held by the couple, along side my balloon it was printed on the paper. My balloon traveled a long distance, it wasn't any where near my kindergarten! Thank you for reminding me of this story loved the video your soft and gentle voice makes it easier to listen to creepy stories as it's comforting your illustrations and art style is also amazing it fits so well

I’ve read this entire creepypasta. It’s incredibly good. But one thing that always unsettled me is on first reading the first chapter was odd but not to scary. But re reading it with the context of everything it is one of the most terrifying parts of the entire story.

He received one gift in particular that was nothing but a cheap birthday card that said "I love you". He brushed it off as a prank by one of his friends. When he received a pair of walkie talkies as a gift, Josh went to call his father to pick him up, because the memories of the crawl space incident came flooding back to him.
When they were waiting for Josh's father to pick him up outside the house, Josh began to apologize for being so distant. He said he was sorry for not bringing a gift, but he had a great idea for a present that he could bring next year. He said he hadn't been sleeping well, which was probably why he was acting off. Before Josh left with his father, he said: "I think I've been sleep walking."
Those were the last words the MC ever heard from Josh.
After Veronica died, her mother became unstable after losing another child. Her husband, who used to travel for high paying construction jobs, opted to take low paying construction jobs in the area to take care of his wife. One day, he was offered 100 bucks from a gruff man to fill holes in the ground dug by teenagers. While he was doing so, he hit something hard in the ground with his shovel. Upon digging it out, he found a sort of coffin. He called over the MC's mom, not knowing who else to turn to, after seeing the horrifying site inside the coffin.
Only as an adult, did the MC find out from his mother, that Josh's body was hidden in that coffin, with the gruff man's dead body on top of him. Josh's hair, which used to be blonde, was dyed dark brown, just like the MC's, and wore small clothes despite his large body.
In short, when the MC released his balloon, it reached a stalker who became obsessed with him. He hid in his house, using cameras in the forest to take Polaroid pictures of him. He tried to kidnap him and bury him in the forest as a child, but he managed to escape. He watched the MC for years on end, killing Veronica when she got close to him and manipulating her texts so he could sit next to the MC at the theater. The stalker decided to settle with Josh, kidnapping him when he presumably went into the forest to finish his map which he planned to give to the MC for his next birthday, leaving a forged note that made it seem like he ran away, and forcing him to dress like the MC before suffocating to death in the coffin with him as well.
I definitely recommend reading through the story in detail. I left out a few like Mrs. Maggie and the rafting parts just because I didn't think they contributed to the ending all that much.
Aw man, how long does this story date back? I think I only ever remember the part about Boxes running away and then finding the dead animals. But that was waaay back when I was like 12

Good think you haven't heard the reading that's the entire work of the storie. Look up Penpal creepy. It's 10 minutes short of 3 hours long. It's worth the listen and is creepy, but it's so good and interesting. I do suggest listening in the daytime

idk my dreams are weird mn. one time, I was in that half-asleep-half-dreaming state (not sleep paralysis necessarily) and something went "psst!" in my ear and I woke up, looked around, saw nothing, and grumbled, "god damnit, y'all, go to sleep!" and then went back to sleep myself. there wasn't another incident that night, so I can only assume that "they" went to sleep or whatever.

Oh this reminded me of a pleasant memory! I was in kindergarten where we did a similar thing, we each wrote a note, rumor has it if someone receives your letter your wish you wrote will come true. I remember fighting with my peers over who geht's the pink balloon, anyway my wish was that, "I one day find a really good friend/have lots of them" and a drew a small picture too, of me and my imaginary friend. It was a amazing sight seeing all the balloons flying through the sky, a lot of them unfortunately got lost on the way, or people just didn't respond. I was the only lucky one who got a reply, turns out a young couple has found my balloon in their backyard, hanging on a tree. They wrote me a letter back, praying that my wish comes true, under that was a picture of my letter being held by the couple, along side my balloon it was printed on the paper. My balloon traveled a long distance, it wasn't any where near my kindergarten!

I’ve read this entire creepypasta. It’s incredibly good. But one thing that always unsettled me is on first reading the first chapter was odd but not to scary. But re reading it with the context of everything it is one of the most terrifying parts of the entire story.
