How about an option to end a war without the enemy being 100% exhausted, all their forts sieged down and completely out of manpower? That's why I like the peace in CK2, despite its simplicity. One big battle and you get like 40% warscore already.
A few years ago (must have been around 2015 or earlier) the Mayor of Bologna asked for the bucket to be lent for a history exposition or something like that. The response from Modena was literally: “Nice try, but no.”
Great video M. Laser! I love that you actually went over the general context and significance of this war rather than focusing on the meme aspect of the war like others do. I didn't know the significance of taking a well bucket to basically mock how backward Bologna was - pretty clever imo.
This channel is so underrated (probably also because of the youtube algorithm). The ammount of research and work and the quality of information are a few times better than many popular history yt channels. Your research is always one step ahead of most channels I know. I really apreciate how you're willing to dig deeper into subjects seemingly well-known like the king Venceslaus carol video or this one. Keep up your great work. If I was earning my own money, I'd definetely become a patron.
M. Laser I’m sorry. I just watched the video, and I agree you did significantly more research than other TH-camrs. Still, I believe this subject is over saturated on this website, which is more of a commentary on history youtubers than you specifically. When I saw the title I assumed you were going to be like every other channel and repeat the same facts with minimal commentary or historical opinion. This is a good video.

@M. Laser History I know it's been a few months since I posted this, but I just want to thank and congratulate you for working with OverSimplified to dispel the myth of the War of the Bucket out of the public consciousness. You deserve any fame and growth that is headed your way
Bro, its not even the bucket that caused it, the bucket was taken after the war. So technically, wouldn't it just be the Bologna-Modena Papal-Emperor War?
Ok, it’s great that Oversimplified gave you credit, because it’s pretty much the same, at least the second part of the OS video. I was your subscriber since before, but definetely will check your videos more often. Great search for sources! 👏🏻
Yeah, actually it was very nice of him to do so. He could have easily taken my research and just copy it without ever crediting me, which happens more often in this industry then you might think.
Just visited the Modela town hall today. It said that some scientific research had been conducted in 2015 and that it had confirmed that the bucket is real. Great video!
Found this video (and channel) thanks to OverSimplified. Video: Catapulting a live donkey. Me: Well I have heard stories of dead animals and soldiers being catapulted into enemy cities/forts. Video: They stole a bucket as propaganda. Me: Well weirder things have been in propaganda, especially during war. Video: They camped outside the city walls and had a 3 day celebration for the sole purpose to taunt the enemy. Me: Hey now, that is just being a dick.

Great video but i watch it mostly becouse of you're funny pronounciations of italian names xD (btw i know italian is a very hard language for foreigners)
I will always be pro-Balogne because A) their name is literally Balogne and B) They were pro-church and C) they launched a live donkey over the walls for comedic sake, which I would have absolutely done myself.

@@MLaserHistory Thanks for responding! Thats hillarius! xD Do you know why the bolognese werent able to break out of the city and defeat the artesian? I guess even a heavily outnumbered and tiered army could beat a drunk army that were busy partying, and been doing so for days?
@@esjb1191 Majority of the Bolognese army wasn't actually in the city. They scattered to the surrounding country side with most of the infantry just going home, which where mostly farms. It was primarily just the cavalry that managed to get back to the city so at that point they had much less numbers than the Modenese. Also, It is definetly safe to assume that the Modenese wouldn't have thrown the party if they knew there was any chance of a counter attack. Lastly, there was internal strife in Bologna after this as dividing factions couldn't decide on what to do next. Appeal to the pope, ask for peace, etc. It would be hard to muster an attack in such a state.
Yes the tonic syllable is Mo, but there is a little pause after it so the accentuation is quite subtle. Also he butchered a lot of other names but an awesome video.
Grew up in Modena, have seen the bucket. Can confirm, its a good bucket. 10/10, would have stolen again
