    Just found your YT site! So glad I did👍
    I’m from the USA and only a year into carp fishing, and I’m hooked!!!
    Rather than the typical corn on a hook I decided to use hair rigs, boilies, rod pods, bite alarms, etc
    I think this style makes hook ups more difficult (in the US), because carp are generally “wild” and not farm raised. Regardless, I don’t catch a lot but, the ones I do catch are incredibly fun (even though they’re generally small - mid to upper doubles - compared to elsewhere).

    Whacky baits you mentioned at the end that works for me heavily is Marmite. Used as a coating or glug. I mean on well stocked waters using it on rice cracker I’ve taken fish in seconds from the surface. I noted actually recently a that it is used in a lot of boilees in the make up. So maybe already in some commercially available ones ( not as marmite flavour but in the mix). Another one that I took from an old pro was coffee. Had a quiet day at a lake and this guy must be 80 plus was catching from swim to swim. Stalking in the margins. He ripped off a piece and caught within 30 mins. He essentially made a paste and added coffee granules. Assume the smell and attractor works and just different. Issue with boilees on over fishes UK lakes is the fish are too wise. I mean heck you can now buy basically low flavour “worn” boilees as the fish apparently see faded old ones as safe (non hook baits). Hemp balls using bogey is a forgotten art and deadly when carp are wary of bright hook baits or boilees. Seen time and time again on over fishes lakes (carp so popular) carp eating aggressively on the free offerings to leave the boilee there. Clever things. Sure on an unfished lake deadly. Again great video loving them. Nice also to see South African lakes and areas. May have to come over.
    Tiger nuts are great but banned on my local lakes :(

    IDK of a better carp bait than you've mentioned here, but I have found fishing with halibut pellets about 30 feet or better from your carp presentation will occupy the catfish in the area.....for the most part 😉
    Wonderful tutorial for folks like me. Thank you.

    There are lakes where carp do not respond to boilies at all. Only corn works there, boiled or just left for few weeks to fermentate.

    • @ItsTippToppFishing
      @ItsTippToppFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree 100% with that. Most 9f the time it's the wild lakes that fish tend to not respond to boilies and prefer particles.

    Right above the tiger nut it looks like a piece of cork, is it?

    • @ItsTippToppFishing
      @ItsTippToppFishing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I usually use a small piece of cork to make the bait more neutrally buoyant, it helps get better hookups.

  • @cdgarrett1
    @cdgarrett1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Using one of those bait holders to cast a blob is not necessary? Just casting the pressure cooked chum meal into the area and then a hair line with corn is all you need?

    • @ItsTippToppFishing
      @ItsTippToppFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In my opinion it depends on the situation in terms of which chumming method works best. But there are no rules. Each to their own.

    U need to watch diary of a baitmaker eps 3 or 4 re the weight to hooksize but great expkantory vid for beginners . No need for a swivel freelining

    • @ItsTippToppFishing
      @ItsTippToppFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Swivel free lining is responsible for most of the carp that I have ever caught. I'd say 60% of the carp that I have caught in my life are from that swivel free line rig.

    • @jimclarke5049
      @jimclarke5049 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ItsTippToppFishing but then its not a free line rig ie hook only theres no need for a swivel

    • @ItsTippToppFishing
      @ItsTippToppFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jimclarke5049 Most carp fishermen use fixed spool reels. When fish pull drag from a fixed spool reel, then the line is reeled in again, the line gets twisted. Every time that process repeats, the line twists more and more, which leads to tangles and unwanted knots. The Swivel untwists the line and avoids tangle during and after the fight with the fish. Swivels are more vital when using lighter set ups and EVEN MORE IMPORTANT when beginner fishermen are trying fishing out. It's happened too many times when potential fishermen have just stopped fishing because they got into too many knots. IE the free line rig with the Swivel.
