Synopsis:
Squadron Leader Veer Pratap Singh (Shah Rukh Khan) is a rescue pilot with the Indian Air Force. In the line of duty he comes across a stranded Zaara (Preity Zinta)... a girl from Pakistan who has come to India to fulfill her surrogate mothers dying wish. Veer saves her life and his life is never the same again.
Twenty two years later Saamia Siddiqui (Rani Mukerji), a Pakistani human rights lawyer on her first case, finds herself face to face with an aging Veer Pratap Singh. He has languished in a Pakistan jail cell for 22 years and has not spoken to anyone all these years. And no one knows why. Her mission is to discover the truth about Veer and see to it that justice is served.

Till date veer zara is considered the peak of preity,shahrukh and yash chopra ji career and it has been 13 years after veer zara in bollywood still no movie has come closer to it. I wish bollywood gets a good script like veer zara, may be God's grace fall on me and I write a great script like veer zara someday

I was some 11/12 years old and as children we are not used to experience the emotions of romance & separation but it was so difficult to hold tears specially when you are watching with family, but it wqs sheer brilliance of the story, actors, director & music that just exploded all the emotions. Much respect & regard to the the great Yash ji, adi ji & all other people involved in creating such a masterpiece. Special shout to Javed Akhtar sir for the brilliant lyrics in each & every song.❤

Yash Ji never answered the question if Priety was the first choice? simi in her show stated that Ashwarya Rai was supposed to be in Veer Zara, whilst Ash didn't deny it.
Yes man aishwarya rai was the first choice for the role which rani did... not for the preity zinta one... :-)
Imran Siddique kajol was first choice for Zaara role but she rejected so it went to my Zinta .but sad that Zinta got only stardust award for best actress from movie Veer Zaara .other award didn't fecilitate her .sad
Imran Siddique in Simi's show, Ashwarya Rai said there was talks of films which she should have been in with Shahrukh Khan. After Salman Khan caused problems on the film sets, a lot of produces dropped Ashwarya Rai from their films. Chalte Chalte and Veer Zaara were from those films. Just watch the interview of Ash with Simi.
aishwariya rai doesn't have the simplicity and purity of the character Zara. like cmon aishwariya is good at roles that involve sensual, sexual stuff. Veer Zara is a beautiful pure love story
