It's a really cool system. The more I learn about it, the more I like it. They got a lot of things right. Much better than modern wargaming by many measures.
The rules are badly written. They get mired in a bunch of little details too. If you cut out all that and just focus on the basics, it is very strong.

I prefer all the detail. The more the better. I also enjoy the record keeping.
Btw good video on teaching the mechanics.

@@jonmcintosh1737You can use the dice in the way he described in his other video. Works just fine.

Would love to see more of these videos such as artillery fire before assault s? And calculating casualties for that the 1824 kriegsspiel rules are tough to learn solo!

Thanks for the feedback! Artillery is actually really easy. It just amounts to a column shift. See 8:10. -That doesn't account for the casualties though... You would have to roll separately for that if you're counting precisely.

Have you considered checking out the International Kriegsspiel Society?

so, in the example, two units got pushed back and flipped----why would only One unit per trun be able to recover??? The officers of Both units would be working simultaneously on their own men to restore order
it's like saying "i got stabbed twice but the second wound can't begin to heal until the first one has healed"
    nonsense....they both heal simultaneously

That is the way Kriegsspiel tracks the level of disruption. How badly were they hit? How long before they become operational again? You could write this down and track it for all the different units, but it's a lot easier to just flip blocks and track their recovery that way.

The main rules come from Too Fat Lardies:
      toofatlardies.co.uk/product-category/kriegsspiel/
You can get the pieces, dice, measuring apparatus and some scenarios here:
      www.commandpostgames.com/products/
It is designed to be played by teams, blind with umpires. You can use the rules for regular wargame play too but the main rules are very detailed and hard to follow. Not too bad if you simplify and stream line things.
We don't bother with all the skirmishers and such but it accounts for all of that.

You could also play online. Look up the International Kriegsspiel Society.
