- Way back in July 2014, when we were allowed to congregate in large groups, Lewis Black hosted the first live broadcasts of "The Rant Is Due". Transmitted around the Earth via satellite, the show featured town hall-style questions from the audience and submissions from viewers worldwide, all moderated by comedian Kathleen Madigan.
Come time travel to a simpler era, when the big news was that Lebron was returning to the Cavaliers.

I love what Lewis said about weed. It does help. I am living proof.
I am a living example. I am a Veteran and suffered 12 years of PTSD and couldn't do therapy without tranquilizers.
Then my state made medical pot available. The VA docs still can't prescribe it, but it made me able to access memories set down while in a state of extreme stress and pain.
The trick is, just one or two puffs at a time. Not massive tokes. Repeat if needed until distracted.
I can think clearer and choose my words better in that state. I read and write with full clarity. Most people think I'm rather gentle and witty now when I was isolated and cringing a few years ago. People thought me hostile then.
And it wasn't like that with tranqs. After a few years they weren't working so well. I knew what a trap I was in so we tried several non habit forming meds to no avail. I had bad side effects.
I get no side effects from weed. I have not gained weight, either. The munchies are related to dry mouth and I am a coffee fiend, anyway.
@R Adkins I know what you're saying. George Carlin said the same. Truth is, regardless of the name given the diagnosis, and modern terminology is very helpful, and I had a fine set of docs that took care of me.
The serious problem is the stigma that made 12 years go by before I got help and it's lack of availability. Most people just don't have that. Parents dying is traumatic. What's going on now is mind-crushing for some. They will never be able to get pro quality help.
@Stephanie Logan well, life happens and unlike the WWII generation there were experts to help me get past it. I am content. As we used to sing, "I ain't gonna study war no more, no more" and until that day comes somebody's got to put down rabid dogs (or wolves in sheep's clothing, and some of these behave like wolves... them and their whole fandamilies). Don't want a nice citizen like yourself or your family getting bit by any rabid wolves of Wall Street, now do we?

If you still find yourself suffering from PTSD, there have been amazing double-blind studies happening with MDMA and people with PTSD. 2/3 of the non placebo group had their PTSD improved so much that they didn't qualify as PTSD anymore. Again, crazy stuff is happening in the world of legitimate medicine with psychedelic and psychoactive substances... I hope you find a pathway to your best life. If weed works, by all means, keep doing it. Keep your head down, and your chin up... Peace love and aeroplanes.

Thank you for posting this to keep us humored and entertained during this really crappy time. Watching this in 2020, it feels current except for the fact we have an imbecilic twit in the White House, compared with the intelligent witty and classy guy who was there when this was filmed. LOVE this format, and the questions and interaction with the questioners were excellent.

I remember George Carlin dealing with a heckler in much the same way. Stopped right there, singled the guy out, and let him have it. Asked if somebody could stick a dick in the guy's mouth like a baby's pacifier. It was brutal. Iirc it was on the bonus disc of the early years that started with his "AM & FM". Those comedy recordings (20 +) and the 13 HBO Specials and his self-recorded audio books are the collection. All the wisdom too hip to print.
Artists used to expect a little more from their fans than the price of admission. When this was more of a society. Less of a theocracy.

Eating gluten free is an excellent reason to be angry :)
BoggWeasel I have a gluten allergy, and I can attest that this is 100% true. I am very angry that I can’t eat gluten like everyone else and gluten free shit is fucking expensive. I would love to be able to go anywhere and not have to ask people what’s in the food or read an ingredient list and think about everything that’s in it or look for a tiny label that says “Gluten Free”. When my job has a pizza party I watch and think. “Fuck.. I love pepperoni.” Then I have someone (and severs more) offer me some and have to tell them I have an allergy only to hear every one of them that offers me food I can’t eat apologize and at least one person suggested I just take the cheese and stuff off and eat it. That would be like suggesting a person with a peanut allergy just lick the chocolate off a Reesie‘s peanut butter cup. Sure I eat a bit more healthy and I don’t feel pain and all the other symptoms of celiac disease (just Google it), but I miss ramen and Ameri-Cone dream ice cream.
