    I need to start playing more games again. The problem is, I've become addicted to watching Danya's speedruns! It's just so interesting to me to get some insight into how a GM thinks and solves practical problems on the board. I hope I've improved and enjoy chess even more when I get back to some serious playing because it definitely feels like my thought process has fundamentally changed as a result of these videos. Thanks Danya for the incredible content!

    • @themarkofl1649
      @themarkofl1649 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bencash4967I know it's a year later, but I'm around this level and have improved a lot since watching Danya's videos. I can confidently say that, as your rapid rating increases, blitz does as well. Rapid will always be higher, but it rises in tandem. Right now I'm at 2231 rapid, 2069 blitz and 2000 bullet. In the last year I've increased around 200-250 in all categories, not just rapid. Hopefully, I will improve my FIDE rating OTB from 1800 to 2000, but it's difficult to find tournaments close by. Hope this helped, even if a little late! Take care!

It was a 40 minute game and he missed some key moves. I was very proud of myself. Next game I playe one equal to myself and hung my queen in one move, so that kinda balanced it out again 😂

    I have played this with white with black having an isolated pawn and Bb5+ etc. Sometimes black plays very creatively and they can even win this position, but in general I feel like I am playing for 2 results in these positions, a win or draw. Personally I do not like these kind of IQP positions for black, because black is under some pressure to make something happen, as with every exchange the IQP becomes weaker. I think you hit the nail on the head, Nf6 is inaccurate and Bg5 caused problems for black.

    When Danya captures the pawn on c5 AFTER the bishop moved, he calls this a tempo. Can someone explain to me how this is considered a tempo. Heres why I ask: Black moves the bishop, now its our turn to move a piece. We could move ANY piece, develop ANY piece, which would be a normal action to take, the game would be moving along evenly in terms of available time to make a developing move or not. INSTEAD of developing we waste time by capturing the pawn, knowing our opponent will ALSO waste time recapturing on c5 with the bishop. So yes the bishop moved twice but only at the expense of blacks opponent wasting the move before in order to make the bishop move, now we go back to where we were. the black bishop is developed, and the ball is in whites court. Exactly the same as it was a move ago but instead of progress in the game white choses to waste both white and blacks time, which essentially is equal for both sides.
    Am I missing something with this thinking? Am i not fully understanding tempo? please id like to finally understand this piece :) thanks!

    • @petrambrus5963
      @petrambrus5963 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      First of all for black is playing Bf8-d6-c5 in two moves instead Bf8-c5 in one move so it is time loss. Yes,you can argue,that dxc5 is time consuming move too,but move dxc5 creates isolated pawn to black and bishop on c5 is vulnerable and undefended, after Nb1-d2-b3 white threatens to take bishop on c5 and wins here another tempo.

    • @ZakariaMkn
      @ZakariaMkn ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the idea is that if we take the pawn before he moves his bishop then he develops the bishop with tempo.
      So what we do instead is wait for him to move the bishop first and then take the pawn and by doing that we kind of win a tempo by not allowing him to win a tempo.
      And ultimately we want to take than pawn anyways because it creates a weak pawn for black IQP.
      Hope this makes sense.
