Wow what a trip down memory lane . Spent many a weekend holed up in Queenborough from our home port of upnor , the weather was either glorious or blowing a hooley. Lots of trips to the harty ferry inn when I was a little boy with dad on our corribee . You mentioned the tidal flow through the kingsfeerry bridge ..... yep we got caught out with the corribee returning from hf to upnor via qb . We had an old seagull outboard on the back and the one time we needed to wait till the bridge lifted , it cut out , never to restart . The tide caught us and swept us under the span which hadn't even began to lift . The shrouds above the spreaders caught the span and we went over to nearly 90 degrees . Ping went the outer shroud and bent the mast . We were inches from the water entering the cockpit and Patchway. Proper poo moment . The seagull got binned after that . Great vids and I've subbed ❤

Wow what a comment. So glad you enjoyed this episode but what timing for your outboard to pack up, we can clearly imagine what happened 😳 we had our old Watamota Seapanther run away on us and it scared the he'll out of us, we turned the ignition off, fuel off, but it was burning its own engine oil. White smoke everywhere and revs getting faster and faster. Lee grabbed a tea towel and shoved it down the air intake and suffocated the engine and the revs slowed down and slowly came to a stop. I was a complete mess, shaking and crying. The old Seapanther had to go and we bought a new Beta25 which Lee fitted along with a new longer shaft and propellor in Jim Brett's Boatyard.

Well Done Karolina and Lee .. a competent voyage it seems. Harty Ferry is a lovely spot isn't it . Thanks for sharing !
( the comment about the Med being nicer sailing ... a guy in the Guardiana once told me the best description of sailing in the Med .. ' You motor between gales' .. :) .

Great to see you again 👍 , we are yet to get down to that end of the island yet and the way that tide runs in and out of the Swale certainly needs keeping an eye on , we are all out the water now apart from my friends Centaur till next year so plenty of time to plan for next year 😊we may still get out for a bit of winter wooly sailing..

There's a really nice anchorage opposite the Harty Ferry. Look for a couple of sailboats anchored, anchor next to them for a peaceful evening and night. Hopefully meet up next year at some point⛵️

Nice trip, although weather could have been better on day two... I bet you can't wait to get to the Med!

Great video. We had 26 bridges to get our Berwick home from where we bought it. It always looks closer than it really is from down on deck but still nerve wracking. Love the Viking discussion. I have thought the same thing about Columbus around the Bahamas and here in Florida. We have places where drawing barely over a meter is still tight.

Interesting about the shallow water out there, at least you can see the bottom, I guess.

@@gooddeedssailing Yes thats why so many try to arrive with the sun high and slightly behind makes spotting the coral heads much easier. After a bit you get to be a pretty good judge of water colors and depth/bottom composition. Darkness and cloudy days ruin the whole thing though….lol.

@rod7373 no problem we're used to cloudy days 😂

It's just opposite Harty Ferry, there are some boats moored up so you can stop nearby.

Hey guys, That bridge made me nervous just watching lol. I (Kelly) would have been a nervous wreck. How long did it take to sail around the Isle of Sheppey?

Hi guys, yes the current between the bridge pulled us through a bit quicker than expected. We went round in two days, anchoring overnight opposite the Harty Ferry. Can't wait for you next upload. Let us know when it's up on TH-cam xx
