i bought a makita set, and though i'm in my late 70's, being now a widow, it has proved a godsend, fantastic make and saw off the other my husband had, so i gave them to my neighbours, good product
The makitas are awesome they have the best battery technology they are the only ones with a fan in the charger we use them daily and never any problems they also have the biggest cordless selection you can get the bare tools at homedepot as needed for 99.00 - 119.00 depending on the tool. And they by far have the fastest charge times the 3.0 will charge between 20 and 30 minutes dewalt is 60 minutes milwaulkee is 90 minutes for the same battery
I agree, I have been using the same kit but with 3ah batteries for almost 2 years now and couldn't be more satisfied. Makita was the 1st tool company (TMK) to Market these Brushless hand tools and now all of the major companies have them . Lighter, more efficient, more powerful more better lol

I guess you found that out the hard way. Glad you got yourself a quality drill set. The 4 batteries is nice, never an excuse to take a break. ;)
Bosch DeWalt Milwaukee Makita make great tools and i got all four brands in my shop. I too made the mistake trying to save money buying a cheap brand. That's how i learned to go out and buy proper tools the first time.

Just discovered your channel and I'm loving catching up.I run my own property maintenance business here in the UK and when I started up made the mistake of killing several drills before realising why contractors pay the money they do for tools. There is just a world of difference between doing an occasional weekend DIY project and what you guys are embarking on. I now use Makita almost exclusively though DeWalt is very popular right now with many UK contractors. Interestingly, I guess because of the internet, Milwaukee and Festool are starting to enter the market; not regular brands in Europe.Look forward to seeing you guys progress. Best of luck.
I used to use Bosh when working for a utility company and they are indeed good. There is a world of difference between Bosh 'green' and 'blue' though. For the diyers out there; Bosh blue is the professional range.

I am happy for you that you ended the cycly of disposable B&D tools, they haven't made quality tools since our grandfathers days. Probably your great-grandfather. Keep up the good work!
Brilliant tools, their whole 18V range is TOPS. I have the older 3 speed drill and it works hard. For concrete/masonry hammer drilling best go for a SDS bit type hammer drill, this unit is only suitable for light work. Makita have a killah SDS drill that takes 2x18V batteries, I could sure use that!
I find b&d to be pretty reliable actually, only been buying them in the past year or so though. My only gripe is that they were a little more powerful. But get what you pay for I guess. Also on my cordless drill the chuck often loosens when I use it for unscrewing bolts.
You won't be sorry. I can't recall how many Ryobi, and Black and Decker drills i went through before I got smart and spent the money on Makita, Dewalt, or Milwaukee. Look into the 3/8 or 1/2 square drive impact for impact sockets. I have a Milwaukee M-12 3/8 impact and use it all the time..
I needed a drill a few years ago. I wasn't sure what to get. Menard's had some cheap off brand on sale. My husband said it would work fine. I needed to drill some small holes in some wood for my bunny. The drill dragged just doing that. Never will I buy cheap again. In the long run it's NOT cheap. I have a Bosch hand held sander which I used to sand a whole floor with. It's still going strong.
I love what you guys are doing and just watched all your videos back to back. Cant wait for your next one!! I want to do exactly the same thing you guys are doing but convincing the wife isnt so easy. lol. The only thing I would do differently than what you guys are doing is....I would drive for several miles on a 2 lane road before it changed to a single lane road for several miles, then to a dirt road for several more miles until you come to a dead end and had to walk several miles to reach my cabin which would have a sign on the door that said, "Sorry I'm not home, I went to the country". LOL. Seriously though, Keep the videos coming I love watching them.
I agree on DeWalt for both qualify and cost. We've also had years of good experience with Craftsman and Makita. This drill set is highly rated and many of the contractors we follow on Instagram give it good ratings even over the more costly Milwaukee set. We'll be sure to share any good to bad observations in our reviews as time goes on. :)

The best? Have you used them all? doing all of our jobs? I use a couple different brands, depends on the job I am on. Used them all (quality tools) and some are better at some things than others. Depends on what you are doing. I use my tools everyday, dependability is a must. If you buy cheap and find out they are, you really have no experience to say what tools are the best.
He may not be an expert, just now jumping from B&D to Makita, but does that make him wrong on this tool? You and I both know that this Makita set will do anything he will ever need it to on that homestead. I have Metabo, Bosch, Fein, Makita, and still a couple Milwaukee. Makita is my favorite overall cordless manufacturer. If this guy was a real fool, he would have bought another B&D, right?

Umm.. that ring with numbers neither "sets the tension on the ratchet" nor "adjusts the depth that you want the chuck to stop at". It's the adjusting ring for the fastening torque, 1 being the minimum and 16 the maximum. It works in conjunction with the action ring (the ring behind it, the one with symbols) set at "screwdriving operation". There's even a TH-cam video showing how torque *_isn't_* tension. And who says anything about me doing a video review on any power tools at all? That was me pointing you in the right direction (i.e. the user manual) so you can have some idea of the full potential of your hammer drill. :)
Why can't people understand that it doesn't matter WHERE the tool is made, it matters WHO makes it? Makita tools made in japan are the same quality as makita tools made in china, it's the same company making them. They're designed by makita and made in a makita factory by makita workers.
And....you finally ended up going with what you should have bought from the get go....Milwaukee. For cordless tools you really can't go wrong with Milwaukee or Dewalt. Makita is okay but they don't offer enough tools in their 18V range. I'm glad to see you went with Milwaukee though because you will be doing so much of the work yourself, such as plumbing and electrical etc and Milwaukee is truly the brand that caters to those types of industries. They have so many one off tools that Dewalt doesn't make. Dewalt is perfect for DIY and hobbyists who want great tools, but Milwaukee is for the pros who actually use them for the trades. At this point, maybe not this video, but later when you absolutely crushed it with your timber frame, and everything else you are doing and learning about, you are a pro. It's been nothing short of impressive to watch how fast you pick up all of these various skills and knowledge. Yeah, Milwaukee is the brand for you.

Wrong. Drills are for drilling, light or heavy, and impact drivers are for fastening, light or heavy. Both tools can cross over here and there. That Makita isn't only for DIY, professionals like myself use them every day, all day.

Makita is china made. plastic chuck. very little bl motor, so it will overheat quickly and will turn off by controller. look youtube metabo vs makita russian video, Metabo have almost twice the size of bl motor. Makita just ripping off people.
Thomas Av, I have a Makita hr2611ft corded sds hammer drill its made in japan and I have used and abused it regularly for drilling/chiselling etc over the last 2 years and it is Anything but cheap china crap, ,Don't get me wrong I like Metabo and have tried them but,...they just aint in the same ball park as Makita or dewalt imo.
Im talking about cordless. Also it depends on country, in many countries makita is 100% always made in china. For example mine. But costs higher price :) in usa only half the price :D I agree Makita is a good brand, i just saying that metabo (they are mae in china too if buying cheap one) Metabo for the same money gives better hardware. BUt yes they both good.
Tomas Av. You can watch all the Russian videos you want, and believe any you want to believe. I own Bosch, Metabo, Fein, Mirka, and Makita. My Makita do anything the others do, at least as well, and for many years of heavy use. They all hold up well. All said, Makita is my first choice in cordless, as is the case with many other real professionals.

I think it helps to hold it perpendicularly and guides are sold for ensuring this plus you are less likely to strip your heads.

Id say HILTI and FESTOOL are the best. Then out of the main four Hilti, Bosch, Dewalt, Milwaukee. Hilti is the best. Been a market leader for years.

I really am a dewalt fan, but they are really expensive. I just have had good results. But i like makita and Milwaukee too.

My el cheapo Ozito drill with two 18 Volt batteries was under $30, if it fails after 5 years so be it.

What kind of bit holder and bits can you recommend for the impact driver?
Musikjunx get yourself a bit extender and the Phillip bit from makita, I love mine, the bit is a good color one and it's like 3.99 for 4-5 I think.
I use the dewalt magnetic bit holder and the makita gold bits. Perfect combo. The makita gold bits last for-fucking-ever.

Every brand has cut corners in the consumer market these days. Pretty much every consumer branded cordless or power tool is made in China these days. This includes B&D, DeWalt, Milwaukee, Ryobi, Bosch, Bostitch, and Craftsman. Honestly, they are all garbage if you beat on them and expect them to last like the quality branded tools made 30+ years ago. You can still buy some quality industrial tools but even then it can be hit and miss these days.
If you really want to know what you are buying watch AvE's channel where he tears them down and puts them to the test.

Also Makita is not China crap. Makita tools are produced all over the world. Japan, China, USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Germany and the UK. Each individual factory produces different tools. Every brand has its detractors, you must have had a bad time with makita
Makita is china made. plastic chuck. very little bl motor, so it will overheat quickly and will turn off by controller. look youtube metabo vs makita russian video, Metabo have almost twice the size of bl motor. Makita just ripping off people.
Thomas Av, I have a Makita hr2611ft corded sds hammer drill its made in japan and I have used and abused it regularly for drilling/chiselling etc over the last 2 years and it is Anything but cheap china crap, ,Don't get me wrong I like Metabo and have tried them but,...they just aint in the same ball park as Makita or dewalt imo.
Im talking about cordless. Also it depends on country, in many countries makita is 100% always made in china. For example mine. But costs higher price :) in usa only half the price :D I agree Makita is a good brand, i just saying that metabo (they are mae in china too if buying cheap one) Metabo for the same money gives better hardware. BUt yes they both good.

You can watch all the Russian videos you want, and believe any you want to believe. I own Bosch, Metabo, Fein, Mirka, and Makita. My Makita do anything the others do, at least as well, and for many years of heavy use. They all hold up well. All said, Makita is my first choice in cordless, as is the case with many other real professionals.
Most Makita tools you purchase in NA are made in Georgia with a handful made in japan.
