Thanks for watching 😊😊👍
I had never heard of those Perth Mint $2 coins. Question: Why would a coin worth (roughly, metal value) $200 have a meager face value of $2. Is there some technical reason or currency benefit reason for the Government? Interesting video as always.
The mints must ask the government for permission to mint the coins or should I say the total face value of the coins produced. The government dictates the total value of coins they can produce. That is they may say that the Perth Mint can produce $1,000,000 worth of coins so for argument sake they can produce 1 million $1.00 coins. If they were to produce $2.00 coins they could only make 500,000 coins. Obviously they produce far more coins than that, it was to keep it simple and an example.
So even if the silver ounce was worth $35AUD it will only have a face value of $1.00. Gold with usually have a higher face value as less of them are produced compared to say silver coins.
They also partly do it just in case the bum drops out of the metal market and the face value is worth more than the metal value.
This is a great question! Rather than write out a reply I might actually make a video to discuss this 🥳
No!!!! As soon as you said the next ten customers who buy a PCGS coin will get a free edition of the book, I promptly bought a PCGS coin. I then returned to the TH-cam video to continue watching, only to learn that I also needed a discount code. I guess it serves me right for not watching a video until its end...
Hahaha no cause for panic, you may be surprised when your parcel is delivered 😉
