After some investigation, here's what I found... Stamped Steel 48" Deck; Mulch Kit with Plastic Plug and 3 blades: 531309642 Hi-Lift: 532173920 (STENS 340-322 will work) Mulch: 532173921 (STENS 340-091 will work) Fabricated Steel 48" Deck; Mulch Kit with Metal Cover, Metal Insert and 3 blades: 965894003 Hi-Lift: 539113425 (STENS 350-458 or Rotary 12123 will work) Mulch: 522037401 (Rotary 14208 will work) It's important to note that Oregon has replacements for the mulch blades for a 48" fabricated deck, however, the width was listed 3" instead of 2.5" so there may be interference. Oregon also lists the lengths of some 48" stamped steel deck blades as being 16 11/16" which is even longer than the 16 5/8" blades. This, in addition with a slightly wider blade, may result in interference with the mower deck, or mulch kit insert. I'm recommending you order the OEM or STENS blades listed above, as these are guaranteed to fit!
Huge question. At 8:08 the Copperhead blades in the photo from the rotary store shows the blades stamped with model numbers & the “teeth” facing up or towards the camera. I’ve always thought that without a blade stamped bottom that the numbers stamped indicated which side faces down. I’ve never used blades with teeth before but I have a set just like in the photo (except 2 for a 42 inch riding mower). It seems like those teeth should face upwards towards the deck even though the blade curved the opposite way. It just feels wrong to have the teeth facing down but that’s the side that’s stamped. Thank you in advance if you can offer any advice. You definitely get detail & have noticed that little things get written up a certain way & suddenly ppl are buying the wrong parts. 👍
Another great video! Customers always act like I am crazy when I ask for a product number to make sure I am getting them the right blades. If they only knew how important all that double checking is.
I've never ran into this issue before, so I had to share my experience. In the end, customer is happy and I was paid for my time. Plus I have some extra blades in stock now. MTD is good for putting multiple decks in their IPL's and also specify fabricated or stamped, electric or manual PTO, different sizes etc. Thanks for watching!
Also, we pulled off high lift blades that were installed on this unit with a mulching kit. He said it came like that when he bought it... I'm now wondering if someone else also had trouble finding the correct blades, so they decided to just run the original high lift blades, even with the mulch kit installed... Could that have lead to the original PTO clutch failing, because the deck got loaded up with grass 🤔 never use high lift blades with a mulch kit, you're just asking for trouble!
Rein is correct a real nightmare. Cudos to our customer for understanding all the issues we encountered, and thanks to him for ordering the additional 3 mulching blades. This was a very good video that hopefully viewers can appreciate for the time and aggravation you have just eliminated for them!
Good day fellows I wonder when Jake goes to sleep if he dreams about numbers. Wow this was confusing, I don't need or have one, but interesting to see what problems other people run into. I have gray hair & something like this would only make it alot worse. Good video Thanks
Good to know and thanks for sharing not only with us, but your parts vendors too. If they all correct it where they should then it should save a bunch of time, money and hassle over the long term.
Yes especially since they'd have to refund those people down the road, so I always make a phone call or send an email with the information necessary. That's why all my vendors are so good to me, and I never have an issue refunding parts. Thanks for watching!
Wow, what a nightmare! My first thought was getting out the angle grinder and cutting disk and making sure to balance them well before mounting! I learned a lot in this video, so thanks! 👍🔧🧰
There used to be a phrase called Going Postal, this headache could start another phrase called Going Small Engine Mechanical. You did really well Jake with the research you put into, everybody seems happy now brother... good job 👍🏼
I use the gator blades on my older john deere and my husqvarna both have stamped decks. With the john deere moisture isn't an issue even wet grass doesn't clog the deck but the husqvarna clogs with even some evening dew while mowing. The oem blades on the husqvarna clogged also
Elephant in room..... I know this was a BLADE video. BUT. that foot pedal with the little metal bracket on it.... a REVERSE PEDAL attached to the forward pedal.... LOOKS very interesting. How does it work? Does it make the reverse better with this setup?
Wow that is crazy all that trouble for those blades. If they just put the correct information to get the parts anyone needs especially a reputable dealer like husqvarna
I have a ts248xd with the clear cut welded deck. I installed the plug and the containment pieces on the bottom. I doesn't really mulch that well at the higher settings. The mulching blades with the "jagged fins"... do you think they make a difference? Is there a blade you would recommend for me to try out? I watched your video and the deck looks older than mine so I just want to get the right blades.
@@geraldsagona7810 no I don't have the number for your model riding mower, you'll have to either call Husqvarna with your info or do the research as I did online. Husqvarna didn't list the info I needed, but maybe if you Google your model number with parts diagram after it, you may find what you're looking for.
Have Husqvarna tractor YT48DXLS with 48 in fab deck. I would like to use Oregon Gator G5 blade . Can you tell me which 16 1/4 in blade I should use from Oregon Gator ? Thanks
Yes unfortunately. Turns out we pulled off high lift blades that were installed on this unit with a mulching kit. I'm now wondering if someone else also had trouble finding the correct blades, and could that have lead to the original PTO clutch failing, because the deck got loaded up with grass 🤔 just some thoughts, thanks for watching!
Sounds to me like someone at Husqvarna needs to learn how to run their job as far given someone the right part or maybe knowing the difference between a stamped deck and a fabricated deck. Lol
Hey don't take this as an insult. A tip how to pronounce Husqvarna. When you say Husqvarna it sounds like you are adding an "s" Hussqvarna. If you use the English/American for house. Like this Houseqvarna, it will be "perfect". Hus (in Swedish) is the same as house. Right, I'm Swedish 😉
Just like I thought, never easy to find the correct part. Same with other style or type of models and other companies. I have the stamped version, they gave me the extra set of blades for either or. Should I be happy? No, it’s mind boggling to see the different models and length with “teeth”. Too much Bull shit my friend, however, my model is a year old now and honestly, I use the mulched blade they provided me, and have better luck cutting without the cover for the vortex. Is it mulching? Yes and no, yes because I want a smooth cut, no, because the design sucks. Years ago, I had a Craftsman that was built by this Mfg. Husqvarna. Much easier to work on the older model than this newer model. My craftsman was a 1999 model and the only reason I change him out was the hydrostatic transmission. The new mower is fast, however, believe it or not, the other model cut better with the mulching blade, cleaner cut. I live on a half acre across the river in the Detroit Suburbs. Thanks for those 20 model numbers that are a mess. Yes, I know, it’s all part of the model game these manufacturers play. Again, just too much bullshit. Thanks for blowing my mind, it’s all good! LOL!
Glad we were able to provide some information that helped you out. Yes you are 100% correct it is easier to work on the older machines just like the older cars and trucks. They were also manufactured with heavier materials back in the day and lasted a long time. Remember the 283cc engine you could not blow it up so they discontinued making them.
I'll be sure NOT to buy a Husqvarna riding mower. If it's this difficult to buy some blades for their tractors, it's NOT worth the trouble. 🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🥴

Eliminator ive got a question what is the bracket that bolts under the mower that keeps the pto from turning called
Anti rotation bracket, prevents them from spinning when the engine is running.
Thanks bud I watch all your videos good job keep them coming
