📥 Download the PGN of this Belgrade Gambit chess opening from this blog-post - chess-teacher....
In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov shares with you an aggressive chess opening for White which is especially suitable for blitz games. It is known as the Belgrade Gambit, which derives from the Four Knights Game after 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Nc3 Nf6, White sacrifices the pawn with 4.d4 exd4 5.Nd5.
This gambit is so aggressive that it requires almost perfect play from Black to get an equal position. If your opponents are not really prepared, they can get into trouble very quickly as the opening is filled with deadly traps and pitfalls.
You will learn how to proceed against Black's most common responses 5...Nxd5, 5...Nxe4, and the passive 5...Be7. Best of all, you can checkmate your opponent and win the game in just 12 moves in one of the lines!

If you like to play the Vienna you can add the Belgrade Gambit to your repertoire against the Max Lange Defense (2…Nc6). I’ve gotten it pretty consistently and it’s as much fun as this video says. 1. e4 e5 2. Nc3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 4. Nd5 Nf6 5. Nf3

This is great! I play Vienna gambit for white and Stafford for black, but when they don’t play 2… Nf6 it’s kinda annoying

13:16 - There is another trap in this position. I have played 9.Bd3 in many 5-minute games and in about 7 of them Black played 9. ... Bf6(??) which looks natural but after 10.Nxf6+ Black can (and often does) resign since 10. ... Qxf6 fails to 11.Bg5 trapping the Queen and 10. ...gxf6 leaves Black's King defenseless after 11.Nh4.

After White goes Ng5, Black should play d5 then Na5, pressuring the Bishop.

2 common defences: Traxler Counter Attack or the Ponzioni-Steinetz Gambit ... The traxler is objectively better of the 2, but I prefer the gambit ... Gambit works best only if white plays 5.Nxf6
