Congrats on finding your right path in life Chip. I’m glad my videos could inspire you to get out camping, and I appreciate the kind words, this video means a lot to me and would mean a lot to Jess as well.

You're a jolly good fellow, and the content creator of this video obviously has made that very clear to us all - and he is not alone in gleaning inspiration from watching the 'Camping With Steve' videos. I'm one of those people too. Thanks for being a beacon in the darkness my good man.

@@operatoncreation6396 hello sir. I read your post. A little over 4 years ago I almost died on the job from coronary heart failure. This was from 36 years of drinking heavily. After 7 days in the cardiac unit I was released and just happy to be alive. That happiness waned after 2 weeks and thats when I knew I had to get my butt back into AA. I had made several attempts in my early 20s, 30s and 40s to no avail. As you might imagine, I’m a backpacker/camper and have many trails to hike and Maine lakes to kayak so I’m not ready to die yet!😁👍🏼
My advice would be to try to get to an AA meeting in your area. AA has a smartphone app that you can download for free that takes your current location and finds meeting going on in your particular area.
Give it a try. It has worked for me for the last four years. You have to go to meetings, get a sponsor and do the work as it is laid out in the Big Book.
I hope this helps. You take care of yourself and good luck! NQU

The world needs more people like Steve. He makes my day better after watching his videos with his natural humor and laid back attitude. My heart breaks for his loss. Congrats on getting sober - it'll be 14 years for me November 9th.
I first stumbled onto Steve Wallis' video's in August 2021. I was TH-cam surfing trying to numb the pain from my wife's sudden death just a few days before. Like you, I found myself binge-watching Steve's stealth camping videos. Although I've reached out to him, Steve will never know just how much his videos helped me get through that terrible time. It was an absolute shock to hear about Steve's wife's passing - I know exactly what he's going through and it's a horrific experience.

I can't imagine the difficulty of trying to free oneself from the addiction of alcohol. I think God sends us Angels in different ways and your Angel likes to stealth camp. Nature is very healing because God created it and so being in nature helps connect us to God whether people realize it or not. That's part of why we like Steve's channel, we connect vicariously and he inspires people to get into nature. Girl in the woods channel does the same thing. She ends every video with "don't forget to get outside and get happy." I pray that Steve will continue to do his camping and find healing for his great loss, whether he films it or not.

It was very nice of you to make this video for Steve and also for yourself. I used to be in your position myself and pulled myself out of it somehow without any outside influence and I am grateful to be living on this side of a bottle. I think we can all benefit by looking at bad habits that we have grown out from under their yoke as though those times were as distant as us playing with wooden blocks in kindergarten. It’s what we were, and not what we are now. It’s a period we no longer need to be involved with because we have outgrown it. We’ve become more sophisticated and wooden blocks just don’t entertain us they way they did when our minds were simpler. I’m never playing with blocks again. It’s been 15 years for me.

For anyone out there struggling with alcohol addiction and feeling like they can't ever stop, I just want to say that if I can do it you can do it. Not even 6 months ago I was drinking at least 1/3rd handle of vodka all day, every day, everywhere. Work (at a job I hated), at home, with friends, I always had to have alcohol with me. Waking up in the morning puking and shaking became normal to me. The withdrawals became so bad that even drinking wouldn't stop them. After a trip to the hospital when I literally felt like I was dying (had all the symptoms of liver failure) I quit. The withdrawals were hell on Earth. Cold sweats, hallucinations, panic attacks, I'm sure you're familiar. Steve's videos helped me stay grounded during that time. Now I'm sober, landed my dream job, and did a complete 180 on my life. I've been sober since August, and feel 100 times better physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Congrats to you for overcoming alcohol addiction, and best wishes to anyone still struggling. I'm writing this comment from a tiny cabin on the bay in my hometown, happier/healthier than ever.

As a HUGE fan of Steve and his videos (over the past 2 yrs or so), and someone who literally bawled when I saw his “Rest In Peace, Beautiful Wife” video the day he posted it, and empathized and grieved with him/ worried about him in the months thereafter, I watched your video with tears running down my cheeks. You truly moved me, Chip. I have always loved all kinds of hiking and camping, (backpacking/roughing it/tent/ trailer and RV), and I sleep in my own camper on my property just to “get away”. I gravitate to all survivalist/camping off the grid and stealth camping videos, and @SteveWallis “Camping with Steve” videos are my mainstay. I watch them over and over, and you’re right. He makes us all, his subscribed fans, feel like we KNOW him, like he’s been our buddy for years. He’s THAT genuine. Your Video touched me. I am so glad you got to find yourself and change your path into something rewarding, AND a becoming sober. GOOD FOR YOU! Oh how I would have LOVED to work in a campground. I envision living in my own 26 ft travel trailer one day full time. That’s my future game plan. I subscribed to your channel and look forward to seeing more of your future videos.

you never know where things will go -small pebbles can create big ripples in the pond.
camping saved me too, (not from the same thing or the same way) but long before I found Steve's channel. My username is what it is to remind myself.

When people are authentic and so truthful it hurts, we recognize that, and it’s powerful. Steve shares his rugged resilience and it rubs off, it’s contagious. These videos resonate because there’s no BS. I want to see you overcome long term with a stubborn commitment to yourself and your recovery, Chip, because you matter.

Congratulatios on your sobriety. Wishing you peace and strength moving forward. My first Steve video was also truck camping with tarps, alongside Crazy Neighbour. I was hooked! My heart goes out to him.

Than YOU💝💯♾️! I was angry, then sad for quite a while - so not fair! Beautiful Wife, Steve, Crazy Neighbor ALL feel like Family! I'm going thru tough times as well with my Beautiful Daughter. I was ecstatic to see Him back, and have been rewatching older videos (I usually NEVER rewatch things!). He reminds me of my own humble Son - simply Human, no drama needed. He is comfort for my soul. Congrats, Brother - my 💝 feels You!

Chris, sometime we have to come to the end of ourselves, before we can see clearly and make healthy choices...

You summed up exactly how I associate with Steve, brings a lump to my throat to see him hurting. Really hope he keeps positive and to know we'e all with him in this strange way of the internet. Really glad to see the positive effect his channel has had on your life too buddy!!
