I highly recommend you read this book cause it goes into detail how the samurai lived and died and is a great historical read that I know you would enjoy

I think it definitely westernized Japan and lost some Japanese cultures like samurai. But we didn’t lose everything like other colonized countries as you can see many cultures found in japan right now.

I'd like to know Japanese people's feelings and attitude towards America since to me they forcefully opened up the country. I'm aware there was a huge civil war between native samurai and Revos that wanted to end the isolationism so they may have been okay with Perry fighting the authoritarian rule but still America wasn't civil about this. This theory isn’t really supported because apparently there are no extant records of Yasuke having facial tattoos, something that probably would’ve been mentioned by eyewitnesses. However that could mean Yasuke was taken at a young age before he got the tattoos if he was indeed a Dinka. Another theory is that he was Ethiopian and then there’s the theory he was from Mozambique. However the Mozambique theory was made long after Yasuke disappeared from historical records. You know if we knew where his body was buried we could do a DNA analysis to see which African tribe he shared genetic traits with which would finally put to rest the debate.
