You really need to buy a few wire shelving units. So you have a place to put the Costco sized packs of paper products, cat litter, totes, etc. Unless you plan of parking cars in there, which it doesn't look like...
My husband always used to say that "Americans were ridiculous. They had a garage to put their car but yet they filled it with junk and the car is still parked outside."
@@Dana-fn5zt Well you have to have a place to put your lawnmower, edger, blower, polesaw, tools, etc. So you can either keep them in the garage or buy a shed to put in your backyard. It depends on how expensive your car is I guess. If it's an old clunker it can stay on the driveway.
Oh thank you. It did suck that I was alone but I would rather do it by myself than never get it done. I do have my husbands help now that his back is better, so the rest of it should be easy breezy!
👏👏👏 to you. I live in a condo and we only have a parking space soooo... But we do have a small storage room. We can't move inside of it. And I don't have the courage to clean It alone. You did a great job
I’ve been living in a sweet condo for 7 years downtown Palm Desert - couple hours east of LA - but I CANNOT wait to get a house with a garage again. Not to mention a yard. Even an itty bitty yard for my pups. You’re inspiring even when you’re down. You go this gurl!!
You accomplished a ton in those two days. Now you can walk around in the garage and see what you have. I did something similar in our garage around 3 years ago and got it pretty organized. Those efforts are still paying off although I need to get back out there because there's been some clutter creep going on. I need to tackle it before it gets out of hand. I wish you continued success - it is a chore but very well worth doing for sure!
@@feraltradwife I've been trying to gear myself up to tackle our bonus room which has become the place where everything we don't know what else to do with winds up. It's hard because a lot of that stuff belongs to my husband and young adult kids, so I have to run it past them before I get rid of anything which sort of prolongs the process. But I think I'm going to just go ahead and start it today. Start sorting and taking pictures "do you need this? Can we get rid of that?"
Yes! I do the picture trick with my husband. Another thing I do is get empty bins, one for each person, and sort it in there for them to sort themselves. It helps organize things in a way that is less cluttered, and also you can manage all the things you can tackle on your own. I hope you make a ton of progress and feel amazing. Make sure to take before and after pictures so you can really see your progress.
Hey friend! Wow! You got a workout on those two days! You did a great job getting that daunting task done. This week has been so hard with my girls. They've all been going through it, and this momma is exhausted. Apparently, there's a video going around of a neighborhood that put huge inflatable Santas in their yards. So, my neighborhood created a large group chat to coordinate putting inflatable snowmen in our yards. Today, a lady went off in the group about how her elderly husband has to rake the leaves this year for their yard and how they keep their yard free of leaves but the rest of us don't. Said that we must not sweep our floors because it is the same. Threatened to bring a chainsaw and cut down anyone's trees that didn't want to rake their leaves and how we shouldn't shirk our responsibilities. I may or may not have commented back. She deleted her rant and apologized, so I deleted my comment. Another neighbor said that some of us are simply doing the best we can, and I replied that it is hard to keep up with everything and now that it gets dark so early, there are just not enough hours in the day. Plus, you just never know what others are going through in their own lives and what struggles they face. It's ok. Why do people assume the worst of others? Someone has leaves in their yard so that equates to an unclean home filled with irresponsible people that rely on their elders to take care of everything? Our tree has barely begun to lose its leaves. It's a lace bark maple, and it has huge, beautiful leaves. So, once again, I'm left cleaning my whole house this weekend instead of doing a little every day during the week. One of these days, I'll get it right lol. Thank you for the motivation. I'm so glad you're feeling better!
I hate how spiteful neighborhood groups can get! We have a few people who love taking pictures of dog poop in their yard and post it to yell at people for not cleaning up after their dogs. I get it, it’s gross. But why make all of us look at the poop when I highly doubt whomever isn’t cleaning up actually cars?! I do love that the woman deleted and apologized. It’s rare that people can recognize their bad behavior and pivot. It is wild that she threatened to chop the trees down!! Ok, so, are we doing the whole darn thing this weekend?! I will if you will! Just one crap weekend to reset for the holidays??
Ok!! You gave me an idea. Lots of people do vlogmas, a video every day of December leading up to Christmas, and I thought it would be an interesting way to force me to edit 24 videos and practice those skills, but they tend to be off putting to some of the loyal viewers because it’s overwhelming. But what if I post a dedicated 10 minute clean with me each day, and you have to clean the same zone while watching? Annoying or motivating?
@@feraltradwife Well, my comment got a lot of approval and a few comments from others. To be fair, she lives nowhere near me, and I'm certain she wasn't talking about my yard, but why shame people? She literally has no idea what her neighbors are going through or struggling with in their own lives. Leaves hardly seem worth it. We live in Texas. The wind blows all the time. She could be getting leaves from halfway across town. But I'm grateful she apologized. No room for hate or drama. If they need help, instead of alienating the entire street, just ask for help. Lol! They send poop pictures? How do they know the poop doesn't belong to a stray? Obviously, whoever left it doesn't care or they would have cleaned it up. We literally have deer that roam through our town and turkeys. It's crazy. So, there's probably lots of different poops in different yards lol. YES! That's what we're doing this weekend. I am on call for work, so I might have interruptions, but that is the plan. Whole weekend reset clean so that next week will start off right. I need a solid daily/weekly cleaning plan.
You are so inspiring. We are not lazy or nasty or incompetent. Life happens, depression happens, illness happens. But I want the space around me to reflect that I am stable and happy. I'm about to do a 10 min spurt. Thank you for being so transparent and encouraging. We got this 😊😊😊😊
Trash, recycling and garbage first. Unopened boxes opened get rid of things you are never going to use. Put things to the curb free. People will take it. If not donate. I’ve been on a purge. If it hasn’t been touched on a year, it’s gone. Good luck

Soon as I am healed from this hip replacement, I need to do the same thing to my garage! Good job 🥰

A good time to take stock of what you have and stop buying things. If you organise it so you can eyeball it you will not over buy. 💗🐨
Nice 👍🏼 job. I like how you just throw stuff around in different pile. Ha 😂especially on double speed 😁❤👍🏼

Yes, wall storage is going to be the name of the game for your garage. Maybe ceiling rack for the bikes.
I agree!
Just rewatched your video. That was a lot of work and you make fast decluttering decisions.
Thank you Evelyn!!

Deep breath and tiny steps. We can do this! We deserve homes that aren’t messy and small improvements will get us there!
