    CORRECTIONS TO THE COMMENTARY.
0:58 7x MPD's & their SUB SHEDS such as Basingstoke remained for steam traction !
1:03 Bournemouth line electrification work DID NOT start at Woking, but from Sturt Lane Junction (since abolished) near Farnborough, where electric services (sine 1937) from Woking to Ascot turned right off the mainline !
1:37 "The single line between New Milton & Christchurch", was in fact just weekend electrification engineering work !
2:15 Note: Basingstoke MPD seen in this view & still in use until the end, but not seen on the map previously shown !
2:45 Bulleid Pacifics slipping antics were partially a result of the intended "softer suspension" designed into them by Bulleid, supposedly to reduce the exhaustion faced by firemen shovelling tons of coal into their hungry fireboxes. Note also the Headcode of this express which indicates Waterloo - Weymouth Quay via mainline so is a channel Islands Boat train !

When I used to stay at my Aunties in New Milton in the late 50s early 60s those Bournemouth trains were hauled by unrebuilt Bullieds.
