I got myself the XS model in mystic pearl white and it is indeed a beautiful little compact SUV, also had mud guards installed, visors and a handy boot tray. This car drives like a charm, very nice ground clearance, strong suspension and very comfortable to drive. It does come down to preference and this car ticked all the boxes of things i need in a car. Love my Starler Cross.
I have a Fronx and drive it constantly in overdrive. It has a button on the side of the gear lever and brings the revs down by 1000 rpm at speed. I never switch the overdrive off

Really good, affordable. I would also love a sunroof. Don't know if there is such a thing as budget sunroof, to keep the cost down

In the 4spd auto, you get an overdrive button. It lowers the revs when in 4th and on the highway to reduce fuel consumption.
An overdrive button, does it come standard or extra?
@@collenmmotle8580 it comes standard with the automatic transmission.
It's actually a rebadged version of a Suzuki car called fronx which looks better imo

Thanks for the review. Extremely useful! I've been trying for ages to find out what the rpm is at 120km. I wish this was a standard measure that was included in all reviews.
The other thing that would be great in a review is the decibel reading in the car at 120 on a freeway. We have a Suzuki swift which is an amazing car except for 1 thing... It's too loud inside to have a convo between somebody in the front and back seats at freeway speeds.

I have a Fronx and very happy with it. Love my manual though. Fast enough, good ground clearance, mine gives 12.4 km/l in town and I drive like crazy. Great sound and love the stability of the car. Hate the back drum brakes, the ESP canbe better, and would love a 6 speed gearbox and bit more kW. Then it will be perfect.

Nice review, but I would like to see a comparison between the Starlet Cross and the normal Starlet. The way they drive, handle, pull etc, as well as interior space.
Including having them stand next to each other in a video.
Reason being I've bought a normal Starlet 2 months ago, I'm very happy with it but would like to know what I'm missing not having a Cross.

The biggest problem for me is the engine and gearbox combo. In Joburg, it is very very sluggish especially with the 4 speed auto. I feel like people need to get out to go uphill and meet you at the top.
This k15 engine always works well in manual. I concur with you.

Please don't review it like it's a new vehicle. You know you've driven this car before just with a different badge.
Ofcourse it is part of the same family .................the Urban Cruiser !....the old starlet .!....now the new starlet ..!...etc ..etc ....all part of the SUZUKI family ....!!! .....with Toyota badges ........slight grille changes and so on...What gives me the giggles.......is that all these die hard TOYOTA ..Fanatics ...dont buy the Suzuki version..!!.....NO...!!!.....I only buy Toyota ...!!!!...What a joke ...!!!.......ofcourse there still are the Toyota 86 ......which is a Subaru.....and the Toyota .Supra which is a BMW ...!!!!........I only buy Toyota ..!!!.....BLA...BLA...BLA...!!!
