I still love the movie for what it was back then. As a kid around that time, it was sick to even have a street fighter movie.❤. Much love to the legendary Benny the Jet!
Gotta give credit to benny. Although the production was in shambles, he still got a roster of characters in to fit fighting shape…… single handedly. Much respect to him!!! 🌟
Excellent they learned from a kickboxing legend he once sparred against the legendary Jackie Chan magnificent no matter the flag that the Street fighter movie got to compare it to anything today it is certainly levels above anything in today's woke culture once again another brilliant upload that shows the Brilliance of when times were great and the joy of manhood as opposed to this cross-dressing woke Beyonce society of today well done and the lovely legendary Miss Ming Na wen beautiful
This is so cool to know! I played Street fighter at the arcades and had the game on Sega Genesis. Saw the movie in theaters when it was released in '94...The big homie Raul Julia and Van Damme did a good job In the movie too!
It's a great movie. When I broke my back seven years ago I lied on my sofa bed for months and watched MK Annihilation and this movie on DVD on repeat almost every day changing the subtitles and dubbed language over and over. For another study almost 11 years ago I had to stand trial and the day before I went to court in a strange town I watched "Who's gonna come with me?" speech to have confidence and strength.
great to see Benny Urquidez still around, i always remembered him from an old documentry i found on a dvd one day called "kings of the square ring" was a great fighter in his day im pretty sure he was undefeated.
I'm a massive fan of both Van Damme and the Street Fighter games. So when i heard he was in the film back in the day, i was well chuffed. Although the film was not great (looking back on it now), i still love it regardless and have fond memories watching it at the pictures with my family.
I know a lot of people hate that movie 🎬 because it was not like the game completely... but if you watch it now especially with the Directors commentary you might appreciate it a little bit better 😅 I know I do! Sometimes you just gotta be thankful with what you got! 🙏 The fight choreography was top notch
@veganhigler6541 Since you don't know and can't seriously and simply defen your statement, then we go back to: "Karate champion", as if he won some World Championships in karate :D And to use that term in the presence of the REAL champion.
The problem with Benny choreography street fighter is that each street fighter has different fighting styles in the video game but in the movie everybody fight the same or different from the game
That's not Benny's fault 100% the people incharge were more at fault not explain to him who the characters were and their background etc. Benny is not a gamer or someone who reads comic books like some people in his line of work. Steven De Souza know's nothing about Martial Arts like his partners working with him. Benny was doing what De Souza told him to do perhaps if De Souza had explain to Benny who these characters are something to work with then it would'ev a very different movie interms of action.
@@GothamKnight84661 I love Benny but if he is the choreographer he is responsible regardless. If he can't do the job for whatever reason someone who can should be brought in. It is what it is. Awesome guy tho.
I thought it was passable. The fights are so short that you can't really tell they're all using a similar style. If you want a really noticeable example of samefighting watch Dead or Alive (2007) where even the professional wrestlers are kickboxers.
Let me say this: making a movie based on a video game, cartoon is not easy to do. Even with today’s technology, some movies fail. But there are some mistakes in this movie that could’ve been avoided in my opinion.
Hello, Viking Samurai. Even though Street Fighter is a terrible movie, and a bad adaption of the classic games, you still gotta respect Benny The Jet Urquidez's involvement in the film. TERRANCE OUT
Hey vikingssamurai... i have a question.. you have been on the road now for a while of doing interviews... from your earlier ones that you did.. do you ever say.. damn i shouldve asked this or. I wish i was able to re do this part again..just wondering because you look 100 more comfortable now doing them
You know, back in the day, Jean-Claude Van Damme, or JCVD as we called him, was the pinnacle of action stars. I mean, the guy's career outlasted Steven Seagal's, and that's saying something. But who really vanished from the big screen first? Nobody talks about that even though they arrived on the scene at the same time. That clip looked like JCVD actually hit the other actor with his hand right on the side of the face. He was notorious for coming so close with his moves that he'd often actually hit people. And then, of course, he'd get sued. But, it was his kicks that stole the show. I mean, imagine if he could only punch? How many people would care about him? The guy never really did anything complex with his hands. It was all about those legs. But hey, that's Hollywood for you and that's what they wanted.
It’s really great to hear about the training in this epic film. I was really sad to hear that Raul Julia was sick during filming of this film and later died. He was one of my favorite actors. Master Benny is so awesome! 🇺🇸🙌🏻
I am.going to say something that might get some hate but it is not meant in a disrespectful manner. I am a fan of this channel, JCVD (massive fan) and of Benny the legend. But I watched Street Fighter when it was released in Theatre way back. I felt it was JCVDs most disappointing film of his earlier career. The reason is precisely because of JCVD himself and it pains me to say it. He was IMHO totally miscast. He was not Guille, he was Van Damme. It was like the man made no attempt to create anything remotely akin to the character in the game. He stuck out like a sore thumb. Outside of the backflip kicks which looked like he was attached to cables, The fight scenes were like in Bloodsport, which is fine, but this wasn't bloodsport. It was streetfighter. I almost feel like van Damme called all the shots and never bothered to even check the game out. I wonder how that film could've been with its budget, Benny's amazing choreography and the rest of the cast, had the star been someone else, someone less of a personality. I loved JCVD in films where he could be left to do what he does but he didn't honor the game. Oh well, just my ten cents.
I’m not going to knock Benny’s work on the film. The man is a hard working legend! However, that movie was dog shit because of the studio and how it was edited. We got weak references to their special moves from the game with no special effects whatsoever like we got in Mortal Kombat. I remember my two friends and I walking out of the theater and asking what the hell did we just see? 😂 The video game version of the movie was more entertaining at that time!
Van Damme knew exactly what he wanted to do because he knew his signature moves and wanted to do them. He had a limited set of beautiful kicks, still nothing compared to the likes of Scott Adkins, he could not really do fast complex combinations, hence the movies needed to have much slow motion. Winning some point fights in Belgium does not bring him anywhere near real champions (WORLD CHAMPIONS) like Benny, Don, Rick Rufus, or people who competed in K1 like Buakaw. If you give slow motion scenes to any good looking proper Taekwondo blackbelt or Muscled dancer they can look as good as Van Damme in a movie. No hate against Van Damme, but we need to be realistic and not exaggerate that much. Benny seemed to be more impressed by the other guy. On "Van Damme was a Karate Champion" he just smiled. That said a lot.
Benny the jet, my inspirational legendary martial arts gentleman, but the film Street Fighter Pure rubbish, surprised Van Damme had a career after this.
Gotta appreciate Van Damme's unique way of doing movements for a fight scene, very karate-like.
I'm so glad that Benny likes van damme with out slagging him off Benny his tough but he's a very nice guy.
I am so glad you do these interviews! Keep up the great work!
Benny in meals on wheels w jackie chan was CRAAAZY
It popular to hate on this film, but I don't follow trends. I enjoyed it. Great stuff here.
I still love the movie for what it was back then. As a kid around that time, it was sick to even have a street fighter movie.❤. Much love to the legendary Benny the Jet!
R.I.P. Raul Julia!
Gotta give credit to benny. Although the production was in shambles, he still got a roster of characters in to fit fighting shape…… single handedly. Much respect to him!!! 🌟
Hola from🇪🇸 to the Legend BENNY "The Jet" ..I remenber in the 80's when I was a Child follow Him in Magacines and VHS Movies

One of my favorite fighters. Benny had great seminars back in the day just like Superfoot Wallace. Definitely my top two for kicks 🫡
Viking Samurai could you make a video ranking Van Damme's best movie physique please? He was actually jacked in Street Fighter.
The best thing about Street Fighter were the fights and now we know why. Kudos to The Jet.

Funny when David said at the end "van Damme was a champion" to the one and only Benny "The Jet".
"Karate champion", as if he won some World Championships in karate :D And to use that term in the presence of the REAL champion.
@veganhigler6541 In what - precisly - chamionships?
@veganhigler6541Just SIMPLY name the championship! Can you or not?
@veganhigler6541 Since you don't know and can't seriously and simply defen your statement, then we go back to:
"Karate champion", as if he won some World Championships in karate :D And to use that term in the presence of the REAL champion.
Hell yeah! I love stories from Sensey Urquidez.
Truly a Legend in Martial Arts👊🏼Thank you Viking Samurai for the content🙏
Love hearing Bennys stories

I don't care what anyone says, I LOVED THAT FILM! It was so much fun to watch! A good popcorn and soda fun action movie with alot of corny jokes!
Not my favourite movie, I always preferred mortal kombat, but that would have been an awesome experience to train and learn from Benny the jet.

The Film flopped but at worked very good on VHS and DVD world wide
Karate champion ...?? looked like Benny categorized him more from his dancing background.
😮

I dont like this movie. They had good video game and made weak movie. Benny the Jet, legend. His fights was so explosive just like K1 at golden times.
Benny the jet, my inspirational legendary martial arts gentleman, but the film Street Fighter Pure rubbish, surprised Van Damme had a career after this.
Raul Julia alone make the movie a masterpiece
Streetfighter was my least favorite Vandamme movie.
This was a terrible movie.
Horrible movie.could've been better
