    Chris, We ( the prospecting community) are so very lucky to have a geologist who is also a very savvy detectorist, and prospector helping us along with your vast knowledge. Thank you for all your publications and insight.

      Funny, I have a mostly done video that will be completed in a bit about how one of the worst things a prospector can do is think you know it all because that can really cost you when the facts prove you dont. Gotta always keep an open mind.
      Thanks!

    Cool man! Ive been looking for good spots near Reno, if you need some hands let me know! Going out alone is always a bad idea. Thank you for the informative video. I never thought of looking for reports from the old time miners.

    Met a couple living the dream on social security up in the hills of Cali. Her grandfather pulled out nuggets the size of peanuts which were hydraulic ed out. I found more with the naked eye than with a sluice. Anyway if I go back ill have a detector ...for sure!

    excellent field video. are there times when gold bearing rocks are discarded in tailing piles?

    • @ChrisRalph
      @ChrisRalph  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's quite common. The miners would not do it intentionally but sometimes it just happened.

    • @ChrisRalph

    Me, after travelling back to 1855 with my metal detector:
    "this stick will tell me if there is gold in the ground just by waving it about"
    Oldtimer prospectors: >draws guns< "gib me dat magic stick"

    I really need a sdc2300. I'm hoping Nokta comes out with a decent pi for gold that's affordable before to long. Lol

    What metal detector do you favor?

    • @ChrisRalph
      @ChrisRalph  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a number and at times I will use them all, it just depends on the conditions and the gold. I use the SDC 2300 a lot but I also use a number of other as well. I'll start having some videos on this in the coming weeks.

    Generally I suspect a low level of trash means someone went over it with a detector already. I don't leave trash behind and I cover my holes

    • @ChrisRalph
      @ChrisRalph  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've been to a number of places where low levels of trash indicate the old timers didn't do much work there.

      Such is the nature of informative presentation; you have to aim to please everyone, even the novice. By doing so, often repetition is the key to making new ideas stick. Unfortunately, you can't please everyone all the time, but Chris seems to doing alright in my book!

      RID BEL - I tried between 0:50 and 11:19 and the sound was fine on my computer. That video has more than 1000 views and I've not had any comments on a lack of sound.
