Hi guys! There are English subtitles if you need them. Remember as well that you can speed up or slow down videos if they are too slow or too fast for you. I hope you find this video helpful!
Very informative indeed and well presented as well .. Thank you so much for making us realise that there is still a lot more to learn in English than it meets the eye ..
When I'm in doubt I think which way is easier to pronounce and in 90% of the cases I'd be right. I am a diletant on the field, but I believe languages (spoken lngs) tend to simplify. In my native one some words that used to be dialect now are the norm (except for purists😉) Thank you for your very helpful and meaningful lessons!
Thanks for the new lesson, Max. It's actually as you said. This takes place in every language probably. At least, it's very common to drop syllables or letters in Spanish.
Before watching this video I was trusfrated and I also used to get jungshooked when anyone asked me to read something aloud...Thanks to you now , I'm way better....💜
Hello. Thanks for this lesson. It s very interesting and it s also very useful to learn different web sites with the native English speaker pronunciation. Thanks 😘❤️🌺
I am new here and have to say that your videos are fantastic!! I would like to know if you could make videos with words ending in "ly" (literally, temporarily you name it) please 🙆♂️
You are amazingly powerful the blow inflicted upon you metaphorically speaking was superb and you put yourself together very quikly . Wel not surprise Don Carlos say women are full of resource that they never use.it.and he's very right greetings from san luis potosi Mexico beautiful and talented teacher
Good class. Practical and useful. A good idea to point out the British and American forms of pronunciation as not all teachers report these differences. For non-natives it is useful to learn them. Thanks Max. PS: Why don't you upload the videos more often? We need them!
I once saw a video back in the day mentioning the word "vegetable" but stated it wasn't pronounced "veg-e-table" and that's one of the least I've heard that in there
Good question! Usually in the British pronunciation (click on the loudspeakers to hear the difference between UK and US pronunciation): dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/military
There's a pattern in words like these. They are stressed AA-a-a, and the two weak syllables are separated by /r/ or /l/. cam - ər - a, fam - əl - y, and so on. The unstressed syllables must be totally unstressed, with weak vowels. That's why "separate" (adjective) is compressed to "sep-rit" but "separate" (verb) is sep-er-eight
Oh! My best teacher,it's been a while since your video,I hope you're ok.I'm warmly waiting for your new videos.Franckly I' m learning a lot from yous,so thank you so much for every thing, keep going Love from Sudan
¡Hola Max!, Saludos desde Panamá. Me encantan tus Videos. Are you really that so serious? Es una broma ;-). I learn so much not to be wrong in English with your videos, Gracias!.
I am a bit confused about all these Aussie , Brit, American or native pronunciations.no matter how hard I listen and I still can't tell any differences among them -- they all sound the same to me. may be Frank can help ? I enjoy today's lesson very much.Thank you teacher Max.
Don't worry - if you can understand most people and be understood by other people, that's all that really matters :). I often point out differences between accents because I know some students want to know, but it's not usually vital for you to know them.
Sorry for my awful mistake (They instead of Its)... 'cause I wrote this when I was in the half-sleeping stage... Only 'ur look (which on the edge of perfection 🌷) took me out from Morpheus...
We actually always pronounce "solely" with two syllables (so no disappearing syllable). But yes, we usually pronounce "comfortable" with three syllables instead of four. 👍 :)
@@EnglishwithMax OK, I mixed up the way syllables are divided/counted in English and got the result of three. Admittedly, the pronunciation contains 2 syllables, like so: th-cam.com/video/jELJkxNJuy0/w-d-xo.html which is how I pronounce this word. When it comes to counting syllables, I would say that `comfortable` actually counts as one :D = `comf` + a cluster of `tumbled` (sic!) consonants
Silent letters reek havoc on the English language. Nevertheless, I love the English language with its diversity, exceptions to the rules and all the other elements that make the language frustrating to learn and speak well.
