There's so much good about Ecuador, the worst for me is what I brought with me. I am of European descent, which can be trouble in some situations, but I can't change that. The three most important things in life are, in order, water, shelter, food. All three, in Ecuador, are excellent.
Don I give you a lot of credit for trying to work through the ups and downs living in Ecuador. I hope the power situation improves. Really like the dialogue format today
I got a chuckle from your remark "This too shall pass". My mom ( RIP ) used to tell me that all the time and I try to keep that attitude with me as well. My saying has been for years when someone asks me how I am is " I can't complain, at my age (70+) every day above ground and breathing is a blessing". ( And it truly is. ) Editing to add, You two are absolutely adorable together and I really hope you both do more of these "Chit Chats" together!
Not afraid for safety in Manta. We are going to Cuenca for the parks and restaurants. We didn't move straight to Cuenca because we were worried about the altitude. We took some medicine before we took the bus and has very few symptoms. Buuuuuut. We moved from Phoenix and we found it too hot in Manta to walk everywhere. We ADORE Ecuador and have no plans on leaving.
It’s always nice to see you and Stella together doing a video. She makes it extra interesting. The apartment looks super nice and the view is great! That is my favorite motto, “This too shall pass”. We are looking forward to our upcoming move in June.
Stella is very charming! Maybe she can find you an apartment with a whole building backup generator when your lease is up. That apartment you were in was really nice with spectacular views.
Lynyrd Skynyrd song came on few days after a flood ," Oh ,take your time, don't live too fast. Troubles will come and they will pass. You'll find a woman , yeah, and you'll find love." Made me smile for the first time in days. Spent a year making sure that would never happen again to this house . Sold it for a ridiculous profit . Moved to Ecuador. Thanks flood and Skynyrd . I owe you one, hahaha
I LOVED this video!! Don, “By Stella” is a keeper! Her spell keeps you grounded and the love shines through both of you! Stella is so right! This too shall pass! The situation in Ecuador is getting better thanks to a president and a government who is finally anti-terrorist and pro-Ecuadorian citizens! Finally people are seeing they don’t have to live or work out of fear of the gangs etc Just today they thwarted a murderous plot by an Asian young man who wrote a 100page manifesto plotting to shootout two elementary schools in Montgomery County, TX. His reasoning small children were easier targets! I agree things here are expensive. Hang in there and enjoy! PS Women doctors can handle male patients wanting to discuss male things! Ask Stella if I am right! 😂😂😂 Ok where do I bite?! 🤣 Stay positive looking forward to meeting yall one day soon.
Hi Don, I'm pleased with the constructive conversation that you and Stella have demonstrated to us.. Like I said many times the only valuable information I believe and consider is from YOU!! On TH-cam there's many phony pundits like the famous couple that you and I discussed few times. Thanks to you and Stella!!
Thank you for having Stella on the channel. She definitely presents as a very fine woman. She exudes confidence and trustworthiness. Her condo is so beautifully furnished. Which city does her daughter in law live in in Canada? What does Stella feel about the altitude issue in a place like Cuenca for the older demographic?
Everything I have heard from tour guides is that they can never predict who will have a problem with altitude, young or old... We took some medicine and had little issues ( looking up at the amazing buildings made me and my hubs light headed for example.
It's a pleasure to hear Stella say she thinks things will get back to normal for Ecuador by the end of the year. I wonder what will happen to Noboa personally after the arrest of Glass.....
@@DonShaderMe too. I meant politically. It puts him into hot water to have invaded a diplomatic property. Glass wasn't going anywhere even if he stayed in the Mexican embassy. On the other hand Obrador made a huge mistake to accept him at the embassy. Glass is certainly no Julian Assange.
Complaining: Three Veterans were talking about their experiences. The youngest complained, "My boots never fit right. They gave me blisters every time I had to walk very far." The next oldest Veteran said, "At least you HAD BOOTS! When our first pair wore out we couldn't get another pair for months sometimes. If they were too far gone we had to patrol the jungle in bare feet!" The oldest Veteran chimes in, "FEET! YOU HAD FEET?!"
I heard from a friend that part of the problem is that Colombia supplies part of the power to Ecuador and sided with Mexico after the embassy incident and have reduced the power to Ecuador.
I'm thinking Stella is the soul of patience with the Grumpy Old Gringo.
Well said Steve, he got rid of his old curmudgeon suit. 😂🎉😮
Love this conversational interview format. Stella is terrific.
The Ecuadorian president was just in Canada and super friendly with Trudeau... pay attention to what's happening in Canada.. it's crazy.
Amen. Not good news.

Stella is sweet :)
No matter what , Ecuador is a great place. There are always some negative people, which complain , no matter what.

It’s the country giving out negative vibes not the other way around.
@@d.f.9064That's why I choose South Brazil, I don't stand out unless I open my mouth.
I'd complain about constant power outages too, screw that.

Thanks so much, I appreciate you.
Stella--muy tranquilo; Don--the worry wart. You two crack us up. Love the conversations!
Well, looks like when Don is with Stella, he reminds me of a guy leaving a Buddhist monastery after 2 hours of meditation!
Don! Great to see you and Stella! Voices of calm and wisdom, and a beautiful apartment!
Great content, Mr. Shader. I agree, right now, difficult times but I am confident it will be better. Thank you for the mention 🙌. Very kind of you.
Any time! My pleasure.
That's because you're older... I was laughing so hard.. Love her!
Stella rocks!!!!
What? No grumpy in this video. Nice to see the smile Stella puts on your face :-)
Love this interview. Thank You, Stella, I hope you share more of your wisdom. ❤

We are moving to Quito, primarily because of better healthcare facilities and infrastructure. The cooler weather is a side benefit.
Enjoyed hearing Stella’s opinion on matters, nice apartment rental.

Hey Don regardless of the reasons people will always move around its just. a given.
You should do more videos with Stella. She is a great resource for you. You are lucky to have found her.
I am able to look up when the power is going off over the last 3 days.

Hello Friends.
Hi!
Complaining:
Three Veterans were talking about their experiences. The youngest complained, "My boots never fit right. They gave me blisters every time I had to walk very far."
The next oldest Veteran said, "At least you HAD BOOTS! When our first pair wore out we couldn't get another pair for months sometimes. If they were too far gone we had to patrol the jungle in bare feet!"
The oldest Veteran chimes in, "FEET! YOU HAD FEET?!"
I heard from a friend that part of the problem is that Colombia supplies part of the power to Ecuador and sided with Mexico after the embassy incident and have reduced the power to Ecuador.
We don't know if that's true or not. And probably never will.
Are there any apartment deals where owners are paying tenants to move in? To prevent squatters and looters?
Absolutely not. I don't think they have that problem here.
I don't want to live in a high-rise.
Well you can. There are plenty of them here.
Nice apartment- ball park figure on the rental if possible please…
Thanks
You should contact Stella. I think it's somewhere around $1800 but not sure.
Is Manta the best beach location in Ecuador?
Almost
No, not really. I don't think there is a "best" beach in Ecuador.
In the States $ 350 for not even 2 minutes.
Hey Don, have you already consider moving to my country, Brazil? Do you know any expats living on this side of South America?
None whatsoever.
LET HER TALK!!!!
She gets to talk. She talks a lot more than I do.
Hey Don: do you ever let the lady speak?
Often, she says, "can I talk?"
I'll work on that.
Is your water drinkable.
Sure, as long as it's purified.
@@DonShader thanks
