    One way I found to let them safely move without having them twisting & flipping is just to make the stand smaller so you don't need a lot of chain, then the i-bolts being connected to s-hooks & the s-hooks to the plates.
    You can take a big set of pliares or some clamps & squeeze the hooks partially shut so the plate can't come off, but open enough that everything can move freely.
    Probably not going to be the best option for people that want to move them a lot, but it works really good for my little backyard spot.
    Only using handguns & rimfire, so it may or may not be viable for rifles.

    Better to put a nut or two between the carriage bolt head and the rubber, then bolt it to the rubber. This will lean the plate downward, making spall and ricochets to go downward, where they belong. Thanks for posting!

    I finally bought my first steel target when I sold my house. I thought the more it cost the better.... so I went with grizzly steel reactive target with the hostage spinner.. in 1/2 in steel. I've only shot it with pistol so far. The target laughs at me I don't think 9mm or 380 make the reactive react. So I'm thinking about doing exactly what you did maybe just pickup some cheaper steel targets from sportsmans warehouse or something.

    We have a factory nearby, I get scrap conveyor belt pieces. Interesting enough, conveyor belting nowadays has woven Kevlar in it. Easy to cut into strips. I have even hung squares and attached paper targets. .45 and .9mm don't go through when the hang loose. Great video

    I have been thinking about this issue, thank you. My answer was to buy several gongs and a few spinners working from LT to RT on hits, so to give time from the first hit to the last target so by the time I got back to the first one it had "hopefully " stopped moving

    I use a heavy duty shepherd's hook, a heavy duty carabiner, & hang the gong. These 3 things should last more than a lifetime. Haven't had a single problem out of this setup yet. I do like your idea though, cheap, easy, effective.

    • @KitBadger

      I like how easy a shepherds hook is, but it takes forever to reset. This is just another option.

    Hey Ivan, great videos, I love the diversity of things you are covering, and the nice settings! I was wondering if you noticed any dampening of the gong's feedback from attaching it snugly to the mudflap? Cheers

    • @KitBadger
      @KitBadger  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      MR T - First let me say, I love your work... Sucka-Fool. (Sorry, I grew up watching the A-Team) In answer to your question, yes a little. The thing is, with smaller gongs especially, you don't really get that feedback from it. The audible feedback you are usually getting is the target jangling around on the chain. And with small gongs they take foreeeeever to reset. I use this more for pistol, so I hear a slap and have the visual as it blasts paint off.

    • @mrt9043
      @mrt9043 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the reply! Haha, my initials are actually M.R.T. but I did like the A-Team too, and grew up watching as well. Did you watch Knight Rider?.... I have a bunch of small-medium gongs, but my local range that is most accessible does not allow metal targets. One of these days I'm hoping to set them up on a friend's land, but it will mean hiking them in and then either packing them back or hiding them away somewhere (it is posted but hunters often ignore the posting). I have a silhouette target that I imagine will reset faster with the weight for pistol distances. Anyway, I really appreciate your videos, I've been watching a bunch of them.

      If you put a nut in between the target and the mud flap it gives a better report. Less contact to the rubber less vibration is absorbed. It does not effect the function at all. And surprising after 1000 rds hasn’t really worn the flap to bad. It does make the steel tilt a little but if anything that’s a good thing.
