Je pense exactement comme vous; à chaque fois que j' écoute des reprises de Zappa, tres vite je m'ennuie et j' ai besoin de re-entendre l'original. Mais ce groupe a su capter l'essence même des compos, à leur façon certes. Et le son est genial. une fois de plus merci pour le partage.
Je m'ennuie, c'est impossible. La création musicale de Zappa est sans limite. Bien sur je connais tous les originaux archi par cœur, et tous ces concerts qu'on trouve maintenant sur internet montre cette richesse musicale infinie, en fonction des musiciens, des instruments, des périodes... c'est la continuité conceptuelle. Par exemple, J'avais acheté Zappa in New York à sa sortie. Aujourd'hui on trouve la version longue de ce disque, où les versions de Black Napkins sont subliminales de perfection et d'ingéniosité musicale. Tout ça pour dire qu'il n'y a pas "d'original".
Je veux juste dire que les "cover" sont souvent sans grand intérêt celle-là est une des moins pires....bien sûr... il y a déjà pas mal à faire pour bien connaître son oeuvre, celle réalisée de son vivant...
What a wonderful addition to the Zappa tribute catalogue. They don't play 100% authentically, but they have their own very musical version of Zappa, all slathered in that 1970s creamy sound! Yummy!

Er hat vor 50 Jahren schon die Zustände ziemlich exakt beschrieben. Nur manchmal frage ich mich, was er wohl zu dem Irrsinn der letzten 20 Jahre gesagt und wie er es "verpackt" hätte. Und nichts in Sicht, was seine Art fortsetzen könnte...
Amazing, they really liked Frank Zappa music; they invested a lot of time in learning it and playing it intuitively diving right into the mood of the pieces. Did Frank Zappa even knew about them?
As a longtime Zappa fan, I'm interested in Zappa covers to hear how well the band actually performs the music. While it shouldn't necessarily be a carbon-copy of the music, it should hold faithful to the structural integrity of the piece, but also have a little personal flavor added. This band is a great example. And because they recorded this during Zappa's time, whether or not he knew about this release is anybody's guess, but if I'm correct, if somebody *records* and commercially releases any music from another artist, that artist has to give permission and be paid royalties. If that's true, Zappa would likely have had to know about this band. Well, anyway, this is a great tribute to Frank, and moreover because they did it in his prime.
Project Object w/ Ike Willis is also very good though they have had a hard time keeping good musicians. Andre is the constant leader. And Al Di meola's guitar tech. Seen many a fantastic show down in the village in the 90's.
I thought the first ZPZ was great,second year I walked outafte r25 minutes,third time the opened for Dee Purple,I stood outside in the foyer and drank and waited for DP.
@Biguitar - I think Dweezil is in perfect good faith in tributes to Frank. He is sincere, he has a good band and in live concert he manages to be pleasant without really playing anything new (I have only seen videos not in person). Actually, I don't have much interest in listening to his new projects.

...et puis un" Peaches" digne des Mothers (elle) eux-mêmes...groove parfait et basse incroyable..

I'm also not a fan of tribute bands but I admit I do like Z3 with Tim Palmieri. Kind of Zappa meets jam band.
Then there's that _other_ cover band headed by some character calling himself Dweezil Zappa... ☺
