  • In part 6 of the 1978 Kawasaki KZ1000 Project, I am installing a Dyna S ignition, bench testing the carbs, making a bracket for the Kerker Exhaust, installing Dyna spark plug wires, etc. Progress is moving along quickly and I can't wait to get this beauty out on the road!

alot of people see a nice restored bike & dont realize the tedious but mandatory nature of getting it all right.especially fuel system.if you have a fuel fed fire start between your legs at 60 mph, by the time your able to get off the bike, your allready in bad trouble.im sure your attention to details will make it all worthwhile for yourself or someone else if you sell it.perfection cannot be rushed.but is worth the time involved.

Right on. I couldn't agree more! As much as I do the updates to document progress, there is no way to capture the actual time put into a project in a watchable format. But it's worth it in the end!

Jon..I have seen those fuel tees leak because they`ve been dry to long.Once they absorb some fuel they swell and the leak stops.Knowing you, i think you`d feel better replacing them as it is an old
    machine..Cheers.!

This is kinda Crazy, My Father in Law has this identical Bike down to the Kerker. Same Color, same Wheels everything. Only difference I see is He has the other Rear Fender, and His Header is Chrome.

Thanks Josko! I currently have a 1982 Yamaha XJ1100J Maxim for sale. The garage is welcoming a few new additions shortly so stay tuned for some great new projects! I may need to do a "for sale" series on bikes I'm looking to move to make room for incoming projects.

I bought a 1981 kz1000 for $300. I hope it works. If not, im planning to do a full restoration. Where do you usually get your parts?

Anywhere I can find them. Local motorcycle dealerships, swap meets, salvage yards, eBay, Amazon, etc.
