Did you mention about the little Funnel coming out the side? How did you make it? What are the dimensions? It shows it coming out the side of the machine at 10:54. Thanks in advance!
a question about the hole on the top. It looks as though the hole that your jar sets in doesn't go all the way thru. how do you use a hole saw and not go all the way thru? how are you making that larger hole?
This is very cool. Any chance you have the cut list and assembly instructions written down as a whole? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the great video.
Very good demonstration! Im really wanting to do the other type where you turn the clutch or what would you call it, do you think its possible to do at home at all or the m3chanism is too complex? If so, ill try this. Off to check your other videos!
Jim Steinbrecher I mean the type where instead of pulling or pushing you turn it round, the coin operated one. I dont know if im overambitious but would be cool to know how to do that too. Not coin operated necessarily. What makes me to wonder after seeing this mechanism how would that work.

Hi Jim, I just finished making one of these but with smaller/different dimensions to make the dispenser a cube instead of a rectangular prism. Besides that and making the angled piece 22°, I made the hole that is on top and on the button piece, a rectangle rather than an oval shape. It seems to get jammed often, is this because of the shape of the hole? Thanks, Jack
+Jack Polmann Thanks. I have found that if you make the hole in the slider at an angle it won't jam as much. Drill top front to bottom back about 20 - 30 degrees. That will cam any candy partly in the slide, back up as it's pushed in.
My 2 X 4 was not wide enough so I had to glue 2 pieces. Not sure why. To make the front I ripped the sides and then glued a center piece back in. I don't know how you cut out the front. All 1 piece?
Jim: I am almost finished and I had lots of trouble. The slope of the ramp was not steep enough. I had to make it steeper . I used a 2 1/2 in hole saw and had to sand the hole to 2 3/4 . I keep testing with m&ms and eating them when they get dusty. It has taken me way too long. Harder than I thought. Yours is still way better.
Great vid Jim, I followed your video and used my common sense and skills. I made three for xmas gifts. Can't wait to get my family's responses next month. Wish I could show you a pic of my version.
what are possible tools you can use for cutting the hole that the jar sits in, cause i don't have the press that you used, and also, how much tension is in the spring, like is it a lot or a little?
This is amazing, I was planning to make it for fun, I love wood-working! When I went to the website, I could not find any of the measurements... I was wondering if I have to have an account to see them? I may just not be doing this correctly but a response would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Jim, what are the dimensions on the piece that is the button? The in side piece seems like it is 2" by 2" but how wide and long is the length that sticks out? Very clever design, thank you for the idea
Jim, I really appreciate the videos, Thank You! Unlike "eeskin", I really like all the measurements. Honestly, I would appreciate more measurements (like the added "slide extension" where the candy comes out, or the 3/8 inch hole location "for the spring" on the back board, or the rabbet size on the sides... Etc...) If he wants a faster video, he should fast forward... Thanks again friend!
Hi again Jim. I am trying to build this with my daughter and was wondering if you could give me a few dimensions. I need the dimensions of the cuts in the front piece, the dimensions of the notches in the side pieces and the dimensions of the slider cuts. Also what kind of jar is that? I need to find one with a 2" opening right? Thanks again for this. My daughter is very excited to be working on this project.
+Bob McCann You can use the tape measure or the pencil. Click on a corner then hover over another corner and read the measurement in the window at lower right.
thank you. i just finished mine. i can only get it to work one time then the candy jams on the inside and i have to turn it upside down then back over and it works. does yours jam?
Sorry to bother you again, but i have a few more questions. 1.) What is the width of the wood you are using? I am using 3/4 inch pine, and the slide does not fit in between the wood. I know I have the sides in the correct placements. I remeasured everything 3 times. Do I need to use a smaller width of wood? What did I do wrong. 2.) Is the top piece of wood one piece? It looks like two. Did you use a router? Is there another way to make the top without using a router. Sorry for the overflow of questions. Thanks, Caleb P.S. If it is possible another video would be helpful.
Hi Jim, I really like this video. It's very detailed and helpful! I was wondering however, if you could tell me the thickness of the pieces of wood that you used. Thank you!
Thanks! I'm going to build one too. Not for candy tho.... See, I'm a Mennonite who loves chomping on unsalted, roasted sunflower seeds. I pop in and small handful into my mouth and crack eat all day long. Sometimes my hands are greeaasy. This way only the push button on the dispenser gets dirty! No my seeds...
This is my second candy dispenser. Instead of turning a knob, just push a button. See SketchUp drawing at: sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=ef58be6050af30458e966271baaa42c9 I hope you like it and subscribe to my channel.
Hey I'm trying to make this for my wood working final for school you know the "H" piece that you put in the front how should I cut that? And for the slider how far in should I cut.
You can cut the front with a band saw, scroll saw or coping saw. All the stock except the wedges is 3/4". The wedges are 1.5" thick. So a little math will net the sizes with the sizes given in the video.
Jim. I am going to retire from Honda in 4 years. Will it be ok if I make this candy dispenser and sell them at the flea market. It's just to help me earn a little extra money for me and my wife to help on insurance when I retire?
hi jim, I really like your videos, and I learn a lot from them. but if you don't mind I like to criticize some. I think you don't need to give all the measurements. I think 15 degree is the necessary one, also I guess you have lots of viewers outside states. i'm from istanbul. this way videos could be faster. please don't take this personal, I respect you and your experience. #occupygezi - peace!
Wonderful Jim. A must build for any grandpa.
Thanks Jim, helped my daughter build one today for her school project. She painted hers and added shells for a beach theme.
Thanks Wayne. Glad you and daughter like it.
Did you mention about the little Funnel coming out the side? How did you make it? What are the dimensions? It shows it coming out the side of the machine at 10:54. Thanks in advance!
Do you mean the chute where the candy comes out the front at 3:57 on the left?
Yes, I I did mention about the shoot. I don't think you talked about how to make it in the video. Sorry, but could not send this message via Email.
I cut the dado on my table saw. Then cut a 30 degree angle on each end. It's 3/4" long and 2" wide and 1" high.
I love how you explained, very detailed, this was exactly what I was looking for
Lovely project, I can't wait to build one my kids will love it. Thanks!
Push the nose down to the sweet. Just my imagination. Incredible. Congratulations.
at 6:31 i see that the side pieces have a right angle cut out to hold the slider. how do i cut it like that and what are the dimensions?
The notch or rabbet on the top of each side is 3/4" deep X 1/4" wide. I cut them on the table saw.
Great gift for the grand kids. have to build one or two.
Thanks Jim,
Roland
You can use any type of jar. I used a Mason, canning, jar without the lid.
a question about the hole on the top. It looks as though the hole that your jar sets in doesn't go all the way thru. how do you use a hole saw and not go all the way thru? how are you making that larger hole?
At 9:21 I explain the insert. I used a router with a 3/8" rabbet bit 1/2" deep for the 2.75 lid to fit in.
I Love your candy dispenser!
Is it possible to get a copy of your plans?
Best Candy Dispenser Eve!! Loved it
Thanks Eeskin. I don't mind. I don't do that on all my videos. Better to change the 15 degrees to 20 or 25 degrees.
This is very cool. Any chance you have the cut list and assembly instructions written down as a whole? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the great video.
Thanks Amaya, just the SketchUp drawings in the link above.
Great project. Hoping you could give me the dimensions of it as I will be needing to make it at school soon.
Thanks

Jim Steinbrecher thanks so much :)
Very very nice, thank you
Great job Jim ! You make a really good job ! So cool !
SO AWESOME!!! IM GONNA MAKE 1!!!
I built one using a larger hole for jelly beans . When I push the button, the beans jam the slide and it won't work. Any ideas how to prevent this?
Very good demonstration! Im really wanting to do the other type where you turn the clutch or what would you call it, do you think its possible to do at home at all or the m3chanism is too complex? If so, ill try this. Off to check your other videos!
Thanks Tiina, do you mean the other one with the knob? I can be done with basic tools and a scroll saw.
Jim Steinbrecher I mean the type where instead of pulling or pushing you turn it round, the coin operated one. I dont know if im overambitious but would be cool to know how to do that too. Not coin operated necessarily. What makes me to wonder after seeing this mechanism how would that work.

You can cut the front with a Band Saw, Jigsaw, Scroll Saw or Coping Saw. I used my Scroll Saw.

Thanks dvega69. Glad they turned out for you.
I am definitely thinking of making this. It's really cool
Glad you like it.

Gaming with Keegan You need to download SketchUp or SketchUp viewer. Then download the file to get the measurements with the measure or draw tool.
Very cool video tutorial! I made one of these with the slide mechanism. A very fun project!
How did you cut the larger hole on the top with a forstner bit?
Jim, what are the dimensions on the piece that is the button? The in side piece seems like it is 2" by 2" but how wide and long is the length that sticks out? Very clever design, thank you for the idea
Thanks. As stated at 1:48 the slider is 2" x 4".
Thanks sorry I missed that, but then what is the dimensions of the removed part?
The back is 2" x 2". The front button is 2" long x 1" wide.
Really love this so much, but do you think gum balls would work in this? Plus you just earned a new subscriber! Great turtorial!
Thanks Craftastic. Small Gum Balls will work. For larger ones, you may have to scale it up a bit.
Love this project! You are fantastic!
Thanks Elja.
Thanks Roland, grand kids will live it.
Oh and how thick are those extra pieces you used for inside the machine between the sides and wedges
No extra pieces there. At 4:55 as stated, the top of the sides have a rabbet for the slider. The inside width is 1.5", hence the 2x4 > 1.5x3.5 wedges.
Nice! I'm going to make this 😊
Really cool really want to make one
Thanks Mack.
Wow amazing! Keep up the good work

For the hole on the top where is it placed exactly?
Hi again Jim. I am trying to build this with my daughter and was wondering if you could give me a few dimensions. I need to find one with a 2" opening right? Thanks again for this. My daughter is very excited to be working on this project.
Never mind, I figured them out. Thanks anyway.
A bit of math will give you those dimensions. The jar is a Mason Jar used for canning. Any jar with a 2 3/4" or so lid will do.
Jim, I downloaded Sketch Up but can not figure out how to break out the individual pieces and their dimensions. Any advice? Thank you,
+Bob McCann You can use the tape measure or the pencil. Click on a corner then hover over another corner and read the measurement in the window at lower right.
Nice job Jim
its an awesome candy dispensor
Thanks Ciara.
do you glue the lid of the jar into the top?
Nice job. Not sure I understand it yet,
It;s just pressed in, but it can be glued also.
did you cut a hole in the lid of the jar the same size as the hole in the slider?
Brandon Balaban I used a Mason jar. The lid has a removable center. You can cut a hole larger then the slider hole. Just need the ring of the lid.
thank you. i just finished mine. i can only get it to work one time then the candy jams on the inside and i have to turn it upside down then back over and it works. does yours jam?
Sometimes it will jam. Try making the hole bigger in the slider.

Sorry for the overflow of questions.

Caleb
P.S. If it is possible another video would be helpful.
3/4 inch pine. If you do the math on the dimensions you can figure it out.
Jim Steinbrecher what are the dimensions of all the pieces of the candy dispenser I can not really tell what it is.
3/4" and ramps are 1.5"
Thank You Nora. Glad you like it.
Hi Jim Like the design could I possibly get the dimensions? Would like to try and make one.
Hi Jim, I really like this video. It's very detailed and helpful! I was wondering however, if you could tell me the thickness of the pieces of wood that you used. Thank you!
Thanks Holly. The wood is 1x stock or 3/4 inch thick.
So simple yet so creative
oh yeah, and what type of wood glue do you suggest? I have everything, I just need to know these few things
elemers glue is 100% the best😂
Onya mate, great video :-)
So cool I'm going to try it
can u post your drawing that u briefly show in the tutorial? nice job!

Very easy to make.
I love it...so creatif!!
Thanks.

Great job. I'd like a picture of the bottom of the top. It seems like it doesn't lay flat? Thank you.
Where do you get the instructions to make this??
I need help with measuring all the wood.
The link is above in the description.
When I try to download the file it doesn't work
Bryan Perez You need SketchUp or SketchUp Viewer to see the drawings.
awesome, very detailed ^^ love your channel
Thank You.
Can you refill the jar? Oh and awesome tutorial!
Thanks Natalie. Shure can refill it. Just unscrew the jar. Refill it, then turn the dispenser upside down and screw it back on.
Could you give more measurements for the slider
this would make a great treat dispenser for dogs, an IQ toy
amazing sir, my friend and I interested to try it soon. God Bless You :D
Thank You.
do you know we're i can get wood and really cheap woodthat size less then $15:00
+Armani Alahmad Pallets, wood skids.
Ok thank you fir answering 😆😆
Hey this is an awesome idea! I was wondering if I could use your idea as reference for my project?
Thanks. You are welcome to use the idea. That's why I post them.
Correction: 3:57 not 10:54. Sorry.
Where did you get the wood?
Thanks Rock, it works real good for regular m&m size candy.
That is so cool
Sebastian Mateo Thanks.
I like both of them
Thanks Jenny.
Can you use anything else an eletrical cutter
I love it 😋
