      As long as you don't overdo it, by learning multiple languages at once, like I did by English, Latin & German.
      Although, in my case I hadn't exactly a choice, given my circumstances; my parents pushed me to follow education on a Latin/Greek school (kind of Elite-ish/snobbish school if you ask me).

    Great tips. But don't forget the long term memory also has a shelf life. I knew a Spanish guy who moved to the UK in his mid 20s He was about 50 when I met him and he told me he struggles to remember Spanish when he visits his family over there. He struggles to comprehend and struggles to say things. Crazy!. A native Spanish speaker, born and raised in Spain, went through the Spanish education system, lived and work all in Spanish, now struggles to speak Spanish after he left Spain. So when you learn a language you have to stick with it for life to remember it.

    The technique I use is: Just speak, don't even think. Train your brain to react more quickly when you need to find a word. Train your mind to be adapted to react faster and than the words will flow as a true expression of your being, not as a meticulous action. For me, learning a new language is more about how fast your brain can work on your target language then anything else.

    Fully agree with the tips. If you don't want to forget what you learn you have two options. 1) you get a lot exposure or immersion; when you do this it is less probable you won't encounter a word you learned again. If you learned the expression "rush hour" and you live in a city in the US you will probably retain that. Of course you can also create an environment at home 2) You figure out your own best way to counteract the natural 'forgetting curve.' Answer the question "How am I making sure I don't forget "rush hour" in 3 days, in 7 days, in 30 days?" There are apps that help with this.

    When i started learning English language it was not easy for me to comprise what people say. But i was really good in speaking than listening. There was long time ago i went on TH-cam and listen any video. In the past, i didn't know which accent should I choose when speaking English. But i never ever quit to persist look for best info for my changes. Very often when I talk to z group of people my accent looks like American accent and on the other hand, British accent as well. But i wrap up to opt for one between the two accents. My main problem was ,, listening skill'' but from now i train it seriously on podcast academy and audiobook. I'm happy to understand anyone who talks to me. I'm french but I'm so happy to know to speak English language a little bit. 🇨🇵🇬🇧💗💗💗. May God bless me.

I'd say focus on the sounds, and take things one at a time in pieces (learn 1 or 2 cases, one conjugation etc. Then don't be afraid to move on to another before 100% perfecting what you learned). Don't just learn long lists of words - learn phrases that are useful to you and u can use right away pretty much even if you don't fully understand the cases yet. The phrases will become muscle memory but you'll learn why certain things are said a particular way later.

    I really love how you think. Not many people think this way even if you tell them the truth of what works it all depends on the willpower. We are exposed to many things and invaluable information. Mostly about spending and desiring things we don’t need. What we need is knowledge and knowledge comes from God.
    Unfortunately when we continue in our ways because it’s “easy” and “everyone is doing it so why not me?” We become comfortable instead of seeking more about our life and purpose.

      @@beacrox ¿Qué consejos podrías darme para aprender Chino, ya que es un idioma totalmente diferente?

    • @beacrox
      @beacrox ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Derverruckte03-sz3xo Lo primero y que considero importante es aprender la pronunciación del pinyin, hay sonidos que al principio suenan muy similares (como sh, ch y zh; z, c, x y s) pero en realidad no lo son una vez que tu oído se acostumbra.
      También no dejes de lado los carácteres, aunque haya algunos que tengan la misma pronunciación no significan lo mismo.
      Y uno que marca la diferencia es que el mandarín es un idioma tonal, los tonos (prolongados, bajos, cortos) también cambian por completo el significado de la palabra.

      hi, follow the advice Ruri was giving in this video. I agree with Beacrox advice regarding pinyin, it is an essential part to figure out the sounds and tones. Don’t stress too much about getting it 100% correct all the time in the beginning, it will take some time to get used to but with practice you’ll get the hang of it eventually.
      Plus watch tv series in the language, even better if you can find youtube content in a subject you already are interested in the language you're studying (in the beginning you probably need some subtitles in a language you already know). Rewatching the tv-shows/youtube videos helps you catch more words and sentences and familiarizes you with common expressions. I've learned so much from this it's insane and another plus is that it doesn't cost a bunch of money (there are tv series in mandarin on ex viki for free). I don't recommend movies in general for language practice b/c a lot of everyday conversation gets cut out (inorder to focus on the plot, which is understandable lol) and for me that's the most important base of the language. Reading is fantastic, even if it's just simple sentences b/c context makes it much easier to remember new words etc. Reaching the level where you can read in books Mandarin is not unreachable but it will require effort, reading blog posts/articles etc online is a good place to start b/c of how easy it is to copy words in order to look up the translation. Later on re-reading books you've already read and know the plot of is a fun way to practise. My best advice is to find material in the language you want to study that you find fun or interesting. It will help if/when you don't feel like studying :)
      But in general examine what has worked in the other two languages you've learned and try to apply those things to Mandarin.
      I’m far from fluent in Mandarin yet, but I think I can eventually reach my goal of being able to read books and watch movies without subtitles comfortably. It hasn’t been high up on my priority list b/c life has come in between, but all the advice I’ve written here are things that have worked when I was learning English and helped my Mandarin immensely.

    The first chart about memory 'decay' should be given more explanation. When I taught junior school I explained 'methods to learn' at the beginning of the year, and the idea of revision after an hour, a day, a week is an excellent reply to someone who blithely says "yeah, I've got this", because you can guarantee they have only "got this" on a superficial level.

    Sometimes the worse problems we find is to use the correct grammar... each language has they own grammar and sometimes that sounds more confused than the the language at all.

    • @ShakeelAhmad-vh7iv
      @ShakeelAhmad-vh7iv ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Indeed it is so, but mind language is first in order and Grammer later, so it is better and easy to first learn the language and then later on its grammer----one doesn't know the Grammer of his/her mother tongue even, yet speaks it quite fluently.

I agree with most of your points, I think we really learn from our mistakes because they stay at the forefront of our mind, as we feel embarrassed or upset that we got something wrong... But being able to accept that mistakes teach us something, and trying no matter what is how we improve!

    I managed to unite learning vocabulary with journaling, I'd said with writing thoughts in diary. I just compound sentences with unknown words, I take group of such words, 5 or 10 (or even more when I can find common sense) and I try to create stories from my life and change them in funny way, and I admitted that the more bizarre and funny stories I write the more quickly and effectively I memorize such words) so before to give my dictionaries to someone else I'd carefully censored them)

    The french language takes a long time to learn, it has many verbs and conjugations, i know how long it took me at school to learn it, german for those who learned it from the first year of school, practically does not experience great difficulties, that's how it was with me, in compulsory school in Luxembourg, everyone becomes polyglot, only in the compulsory school system, luxembourgish, german and french are learned with the option of english later, and those who speak another language their mother tongue because they are, for example, of japanese origin or turkish, they add 1 or 2 more languages to the 3 compulsory at school with english by choice, Luxembourg is the country in the world that probably forces the most to learn more languages in the compulsory school system, i was born in Luxembourg and i speak 4 languages including my mother tongue

      Hurrah to Luxembourg for such a nice system of language teaching---that be, verily, a heaven for a polyglot and language Lover like me.
      Anyhow, I need add a few words to your stance: French is very hard to learn, esp its spellings and silents, and more so it's articles 'cause you could not add an article to any Noun untill you know, in advance, whether it is masculine, feminine or neuter---Shit.
      Besides, the "eg-ghek" sound of R is more than weird and unlike all other languages of the world.
      Whereas, German is a very fine and systematic language, though it's gammer is hard to learn and use properly.
      Still I praise Luxembourg for teaching it and you for learning it.
      Auf wiedersehen,
      (SHAKEEL AHMAD, U.K)
