Every bike is a touring bike if you tour on it. I've taken camping trips for days and hundreds of miles on a 90's ninja 250. Gotta get your butt used to the bike. And there's no such thing as "not designed for touring" once an engine is running it makes no difference to the engine. It could be 20 miles or 1000 as long as your valves are in spec and your fuel system is fueling, the engine has no opinions about it. Awesome video, i enjoyed watching! I just like to spread the word that you don't need a huge expensive bike to go where you want to go and take the trips you want to take!
I have a 125 CC and honestly traveling is a real pain in the ass when you cant go over 100km/h, when the bike is so light that you fly away when the wind blows
I toured extensively on a 2007 Sv650 and it was fine, except for the fact my buddy on his Multistrada would kill my bike when we had use interstates to connect to the twisties. Smaller fuel tank was not really a problem because it's a good idea to stretch every two or three hours. I DID upgrade to a liter bike eventually -- Triumph Sprint ST.

I bought a SV650N in 2007. I kept it 1 year and 4000 kms. I changed it for a v-strom, nothing to compare on fuel mileage and comfort. I kept the v-strom 11 years and 60000 kms before reselling it easily (one week) and buying myself a second hand Versys 1000
Top tip for making your seat comfier for a long journey: sheepskin. I bought myself some for £15 and its amazing for long trips. Beats expensive gel inserts or air pads or whatever.
I've owned my 2017 FZ-07 for almost 1 year now. The only upgrades anyone needs and I made are the comfort seat and the flyscreen. The flyscreen is very small but somehow manages to deflect a lot of wind away from the rider. The comfort seat is self explanatory. Excellent review. As for long distance touring, I'd much rather take a FZ-07 over a supersport like the R1 or R6. Much more comfortable and much better fuel mileage.
I tour with a 2002 SV650S , people always tell me how uncomfortable it must be... It's not... 500 kms on my Honda Shadow I can't walk, 1200km on my SV and I can get off without pain... If you have core strength, aggressive riding style doesn't hurt a bit... Now, if you are soft and out of shape, yes sport bikes will hurt your core muscles until they tone up.... You will get used to it if you try... Oh and I am 51 with a back injury, slipped and herniated discs....
You should reach out to some of those companies and speak to them about sponsorship. They won't come to You. Well most of the time. But you have one of the few GOOD channels with great reviews. I bet you'd have no problem if you'd get out there and start beating down doors. Good video my dudes. Love the fz/mt 07.
Thank you for the tip! That is the exact plan I had, I just want to put out a bit more videos before starting to contact companies, but this channel is growing much faster than I anticipated so we'll see. Thanks for commenting I really appreciate it :)
I tooo my fz-07 with a giant 22 in windscreen and a tail bag on a huge 2 thousand mile trip in the US from the north Georgia mountains to Pensacola beach and back. Great time. The frame sliders doubled as foot rests and the tail bag was a back rest. Super comfortable.
I have the FZ 07 with a windshield that helps a bit. A little easy trick for extra seat comfort; I bought a pair of padded bicycling underwear from Performance Bike and those help reduce the pressure points. The pants are designed to wear under normal shorts and, although they feel at first like you are wearing a diaper, the comfort improvement is very noticeable. Haven't tried Gel pads as yet. At times I am tempted to buy a cruiser just to be more comfortable on highways, but the FZ is a blast on twisty roads, whereas cruisers are not so much. Safe and joyful riding to all.
It actually works prety good! 😁 I covered over 3500km of eastern europe with two friends in 10 days with my MT/FZ 07! :) no issues! Just my but was hurt hard!

Joy Buning I changed mine from a s model to a naked because of the riding position. Much more fun as a naked but with fairing its better on the highway.
I took the mt-07 on a tour around the Izu peninsula in Japan for 4 days with a backpack strapped down to the rear. Wickedly fun bike but I had knee pain after the second day. The XSR700 is a better choice for the higher seat and wider bars. I’m 5,10”.
I upgraded to the yamaha comfort seat on my FZ-07, added a puig sport windscreen and im using a pair a saddle bag for my luggage (keeps the weight low). I have done a few trip with that setup and it works!
It is much harder (but still comfortable) and the foam still offer support after hours of riding. Not sure if it is better than gel insert or gel cover or air cover, but I like being able to do some sporty riding while touring and it works great for that.
cerealk53 thanks for your input. Seat upgrade is on my list, i don't like how the front of mine opens up and leaves a gap when I'm sitting on the back end of the seat. All the same the seat is good for casual riding but i do intend for a bit of touring in the future.
Great video and I find you more trust worthy than some of the bigger channels that don't want to piss any brands off. It's just plain honest thoughts. Anyway I've found in my short two years experience that looking into what bikes CAN do is a ball ache when put to the test, an extreme example is you CAN go round the world on a 125cc sport bike but don't obviously hahah I went around Scotland on my moto guzzi bobber 900 with the intention of wild camping, ended up paying for campsites and it just rained heavy every day so I'll be doing cheap hotel's next time. Great if it's you're only option though.
I did it this summer, with no preparation, 500km on my stock mt07 in the middle of the night to join my girlfriend who was on vacation. It's not a bike meant for that at all, the tank is too small, no windshield, the seat is really bad. At least the cold air, rain, wind and noise will keep you awake !
@@emirbenaissa3441 I said "with no preparation", it was not planned, I began my journey at 10pm and was on destination at 3 am, you can't rent a bike after office hours where I live, you have to plan a little Ah, and I wasn't rude, a little sarcastic, that's all
Plans I have on the mt07 (if I ever got one) to make it a mile muncher - windshield from wind, handlebar riser for relaxed straight posture, rear hard case for storage and drop the rear sprocket by 2 or 3 tooth for slightly extra range.
I just purchased an SV650 for my wife and had to ride it 300km from where we’d purchased it. I can say without a doubt it has the worst seat I have ever had the displeasure of experiencing. Needless to say I was walking like John Wayne for several days after.
FZ07, good touring bike? No, no it's not. I love my FZ for heading downtown, or making any 20 mile commute way more fun, but 3hrs or more in the seat and your pelivis and spine will remind you that you're no longer in your 20's! If it's going to be a ride longer than 2 hours, I roll the Goldwing out of the garage.
Oh i believe the bike is fully capable, my butt however is not. You must have buns of steel! Sounds like an amazing ride! Are you riding on a stock seat, or an upgrade?
Do you have kidney protectors? People usualy say their back hurt from riding but acctualy it is their kidneys hurting from micro vibrations from the bike... Maybe that's it?
Great storytelling in the beginning. But yeah, mechanically there's nothing that stops you from touring. It's the amenities for the rider that make the difference.
Thanks!! Just filmed one yesterday should be up in the upcoming weeks. I'm just trying to film as much videos as possible to get through the winter when the snow comes, that is why it takes a long time for those videos to come out :)

I made 1850 km for 3 days with my MT07 2020, from Isaccia(Romania) to Dresden (Germany) I would say, that was completely ok, 130-150 cruise speed. Wind was kinda annoying, but overall was ok.
Great video guys, perfect suggestions. Any trips longer than an hour and ear plugs, a better seat and a windshield is a must Just got my SV a month ago, fuck new exhaust I need a seat first 😅
I have 2018 mt-07. I couldn't ride for more than an hour because of the seat. I didn't get a new seat. I got padded bicycle pants. I now ride regularly for 4 hours a day without the pain the in the ass.
My friend and I just did 9400km on our FZ07s....... amazing, but everything you said is true. Any bike is a touring bike if you want it to be. Grip it and rip it.
2 friends and I did 11600 miles around the country and Nova Scotia on 500 Suzuki 2 strokes. We added windshield and panniers. It was all the bike we needed, That was 1973. I ride a gsxs1000f now,3 times the power but still only use 25 ponies to do 85 mph
Get the Puig touring screen, the nelson rigg mini saddle bags that goes with the tail bag (I have the same tail bag) and a Bell large gel bicycle seat and strap it with a nylon belt. And, the Crampbuster motorcycle cruise assist. You are good to go...
Everyone always says wind is a bad thing while riding on a naked bike. I took my Z900 on a 3.5 hour ride and the wind I never felt it. I never feel the wind causing me fatigue. I just never understand why or how wind affects so many other riders but I never have the same experience. Wind is a only a problem for me when at 120mph my head's being ripped off due to sustained speed.
Nakeds on freeways are not the best when it comes to wind blast.I fitted my 2016 er6n with an aftermarket PUIG Windscreen and it helps a great deal for those freeway rides.
Seat hardness on the SV has been an issue going all the way back to 2009 with the Gladius. Also there have been complaints about mirror adjustment on the SV as it seems to use the same mirrors I had on my 1996 GSF 600 Bandit which required the tool kit to make an adjustment. I understand the SV is a budget/value bike like the MT07 and z650 but for the life of me, I don't know why Suzuki hasn't addressed these simple issues. Put another 1/2 inch of foam on the seats for goodness sake. I don't think the increase in seat height of 0.5 inches is going to destroy sales. Also, since the introduction of the new SV in 2016/17, I don't think Suzuki has done anything new to their model except the paint scheme each year for the last 3 years....perhaps addition of ABS. Both SV and the GSX-S models are still using an old box style steel swingarm while every other major manufacturer has gone to a cast aluminum swingarm...not sure if there is a major weight difference (I would think it would help decrease the weight slightly of the SV allowing it to compete better with the lighter z650 and MT07). I had that same steel box swingarm on my 1996 Bandit. Love the SV and perhaps Suzuki is worried about making changes that could affect sales like they did with the Gladius. But outside of engine performance increases in 2016, nothing seems to have changed at all, year after year, outside of paint color. Add a cast aluminum swingarm, a bit more padding on the seat, better adjustable mirrors, and petal discs would give an updated look without a major price increase or destroying the classic look IMO.
Hahaha i did the exact same thing with my mate! Sitting on the freeway and realise that i got no fuel left. Got lost and also had to ask for directions to a petrol station xD
Every bike is a touring bike once you're used to it. Hundreds of miles a day was never an issue on my Gladius, my V-Strom is only easier because I've ridden it significantly more. The benefits of now being motorcycle-ony
in the philippines some riders did the philippine loop(7000km) using a 125-150cc motorcycles. every motorcycle you use for touring is a touring motorcycle (not all will agree but who the fuck cares you are the one using it). not all can afford a goldwing, hell its a luxury to afford a 300cc here...
Currently riding 2006 SV650 s owned an 07 also but had to sell when funds were low...to any-one considering one. my vote is a solid yes. Fast enough to kill you and slow enough that you won’t and still have a blast everyride... if you can be self controlled.... lol... 0-100 awesome much over that and just asking for trouble. Personally I save that for my vfr800.😎 more planted..
Reading Jupiter's Travels at the moment and he rode round the world on an old Triumph through the most apalling conditions. Even these mid priced naked are a magnitude better in every respect (apart from perhaps their tolerance for crappy fuel). I think you can tour on anything. But for the money you'd obviously get a Versys, an older Africa Twin or similar with better luggage options.
Suzuki has an accessory roll top seat for the SV it's supposed to be more comfortable. I think it's the same one on the SV650-X but don't quote me on that. An damn that Red and Black looks awesome they are only selling the Blue here this year.
I would probably make a system to get more bags on the bike. I can weld something together for sure. Because if I go touring (out of the country) on one of these I need more room for clothes and tent and so on. If my CB500 can do touring then these can too. Although the Cb500 got a lot nicer seat.
I can get about 180miles out of my sv650 before the gas indicator comes on. Still has about 50 miles after that before I am running on empty. It is pretty rare that I find myself somewhere with over 230 miles between gas stops. My sv is a 2007 model though. Not sure if the tank size has gotten smaller since.
Yes, the Gen 3 models have a 0.7 US gal smaller tank than the 2nd Gen models. So only 3.8 vs 4.5 gal (14.5 L vs 17 L). Combined with the harder seat of the new model, they're not as good for touring as the previous model.
Anh Ấy Get a naked and a large windshield to deflect wind over your head. Your back and your wrists will thank you for avoiding a sport. I’ve owned both and my sport hurts my wrists and back after a couple hours.
I started wearing bicycle shorts under my jeans on long trips. They have built in jell pads. Made such a huge difference.
Never thought about that....great idea!
Now that's smart.

I love SV650. More video please~
SV650 vid coming out next week Tuesday, going to be a fun one :)
Can't decide between these two bikes, what do you think?
Vstrom 650 n tracer 700 makes more sense for touring 😁
I would say perfectly fine just plan your trip so that you avoid highways you get better mileage, less wind, and a more enjoyable ride in the end.
It’s nice up here in the Muskokas, Port Sandfield Bridge, recognize that.
Great video :D
Thank you!! I really appreciate it :)
Hahaha i did the exact same thing with my mate! Sitting on the freeway and realise that i got no fuel left. Got lost and also had to ask for directions to a petrol station xD
The gas range is a feature because it forces you to get off the uncomfortable and stretch at the gas station every hour
Like the sidewalk launch at the end! I'm a V-strom 650 guy. What part of the world are you peeps in?
Very nice video keep it up
Every bike is a touring bike once you're used to it. Hundreds of miles a day was never an issue on my Gladius, my V-Strom is only easier because I've ridden it significantly more. The benefits of now being motorcycle-ony
great video gents
in the philippines some riders did the philippine loop(7000km) using a 125-150cc motorcycles. every motorcycle you use for touring is a touring motorcycle (not all will agree but who the fuck cares you are the one using it). not all can afford a goldwing, hell its a luxury to afford a 300cc here...
damn that Dainese mesh jacket looks good bro
Good reviews about all the gadgets you used during the video...
Can you do one actually on the bikes???
Just uploaded the SV650 review, the fz 07 is coming soon :)
Seat and windscreen are not problems at all.. Can be easily modified
Great video! I've been looking at an SV and was wondering if I could take it on a 6 hour ride
Adam Kreuz I had an sv650 for 14 months. 6 hours is easy save for the seat, which can be uncomfortable.
I go on 6 hour rides on a dr650. You'll be fine.
FZ-07 Corbin seat ftw. Took a while to break into my butt shape but can sit on it for hours w/o fatigue.
Suzuki has an accessory roll top seat for the SV it's supposed to be more comfortable. I think it's the same one on the SV650-X but don't quote me on that. An damn that Red and Black looks awesome they are only selling the Blue here this year.
The tuck and rollI seat is the same as the SV650X. It's a little thicker but not by much.
Nicely done boys.... F**k conformity, I luv the bridge maneuver :D
Even tho I HATE reggeaton, dude that "dale mas gasolina" was priceless lol 🤣
Which of these two bikes would be better for a 6.2 tall and 260 pounds heavy rider?
Good reviews.
you guys are cool. I'm looking into the 650 for the city
I would probably make a system to get more bags on the bike. I can weld something together for sure. Because if I go touring (out of the country) on one of these I need more room for clothes and tent and so on.
If my CB500 can do touring then these can too. Although the Cb500 got a lot nicer seat.
Is that a 2015 FZ-07??? Nice video, btw! 🙂
Others way to deal with those seats is being a KTM duke 200 rider (like me) or ride a bicycle for long journies
You should always wear earplugs. Hwy or street.
Honest question
Some say Sport is more comfortable on touring than Naked, Cuz of...air-hide-position (sorrei for bad inglish)
Is it true ???
Anh Ấy Get a naked and a large windshield to deflect wind over your head. Your back and your wrists will thank you for avoiding a sport. I’ve owned both and my sport hurts my wrists and back after a couple hours.
hi, can you help me? i'd like to ask what do you call to your bag at the back and what brand?, thanks
I put the Corbin Saddles seat on my 2018
