    Hi Kathleen . I’m Laura, Im 15 from the uk with my uncle who’s lives on the Gold Coast of Australia. I’m currently year 11 and will sit my GCSE’s this may. That will determine what sixth form I get into and I really want to do sociology,psychology and French (I am half French) and then after my a levels I would like to go to unsw to study psychology and hopefully take it on from there and maybe live in Australia. I’ve wanted to be a physiologist since I was about 13 after I started to realise what an affect trauma was having me, family and some of my friends. I’ve always had a passion to help people and I’m really enjoying watching your videos as they give me hope for the future. Thank you

      Hi Laura, thanks so much for sharing this! I think we have some things in common - I studied French + psych during my “A levels” equivalent 😁 I’m really glad the content has been helpful - the UNSW campus is beautiful. Some other good options are the ANU in Canberra (it’s a beautiful campus and Canberra is a good student city), or the university of Melbourne - it has an incredible psych faculty and the city is really fun! Trauma is also a fascinating and rewarding area to get into - we really need more people who specialise in this. All the best on your journey! 😊

      @@kathleenanne Thank you, I will definitely look into all of these because I’m really looking forward to leaving England and trying somewhere new. I’ve always been a traveler with my parents and even on my own (I’ve went to Paris alone and met my aunt there) and I find the thrill of it so exiting. After my alevels I would definitely like to go to Australia for a year , stay with my family and then hopefully I will be going to one of the unis above. Anyways with my big ambitions I’m just trying to get through gcse period and look up to my dreams of being a psychologist. Although I’m aware it’s going to be hard, I’m so ready to put in that effort and your videos are so inspiring to me.

    Hi Kathleen, I just discovered this channel yesterday and very grateful for it! Wanted to share something that might be a controversial opinion, I hope not. My psychologist once told me that when she was first starting, her mentor told her that most of your best clients will be the ones who pay in full, and pls don't cancel me, but even if they were going through difficult circumstances. Of course everyone's situations are unique and they didn't choose it, and this is also not justification to demand more money from people than they are capable of. But yeah, over the years she found that to be true. My own situation was very hard financially and I struggled to pay for sessions. However, the conviction to get better made me diligently save what little allowance I got as a teen and early 20s (even surviving on 20$ a week sometimes to cover groceries, transport etc.), and I applied myself even more to every minute of sessions because of that. I guess the client really needs to get to a place where life has hit them so many times they refuse to end their story as a fallen hero. That's my situation anyway lol thanks for these videos!

    hello, I am wondering what the medicare rebates are like for a general psych in terms of specific therapies you can provide with rebate? I have seen online that there are only some therapies that general psychs can provide with rebate, how does this work?

    Thank you Kathleen for the excellent video 🙂👍I completed my Engineering back in 2007 and work fulltime in IT. I want to get into Psychology (for a number of reasons) through a Graduate Diploma. In your opinion would a Graduate Diploma give me a legitimate shot to get into these very competitive Honors and Masters, or do they prefer regular Bachelors and Ill just be spending a bunch of money to drop halfway. I would very much appreciate any guidance. Thanks again.

      So glad the video helped! 😄 A graduate diploma should give you an equal shot - you could also apply for the advanced grad diploma instead of honours and this pathway should give you an equal shot as well - best of luck with your psych journey!

    Could you please explain how your hypothetical salary is so high compared to what ive seen? Is that because of the discrepancy between working for a business compared to working for yourself

    • @kathleenanne
      @kathleenanne  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes that’s correct - running your own business allows you to earn a higher income and a lot of psychs aim for this
