Thank you Kathleen for making these videos. I’m doing a Dip in psych and the journey is going to be long. Watching your vlogs and seeing your determination makes me want to work harder and not give up when it gets difficult 🌷

Your determination is impressive! Rejection has really held me up this year. I'm going to be entering a second gap year from my study goals, and it is honestly disheartening. But as you said, we all have different journeys. Thank you for the validation! I am grateful that I have a roof over my head, am relatively healthy, and can eat well every week.

Hi, my name is Tayla and I am applying for the MPP for next year. I finished my honours in 2023 and originally applied for MCP to start in 2024. Unfortunately, I didn't get in anywhere and it was a huge let down for me. I felt very lost at the time and didn't know what I was doing or where I was going. I felt like I had this plan and when things didn't turn out the way I thought they would I completely spiralled. But now looking back, I felt like I really needed this year to work and reflect on what I wanted my next step to be. To be completely honest with you, I wasn't even sure about clinical masters, but at the time I felt like that's what I was 'meant' to do and what everyone else was doing too. I had never even though about the 5+1 pathway before this year and I didn't even know you could go on to do clinical masters after you gained general registration until this year either. I've learned a lot and ultimately made the decision to only apply for MPP this time around. It feels like it will be a better fit for me and I feel like I have made the right decision. I just hope this time around I actually get in somewhere aha. But I guess only time will tell. I only just stumbled across your video, but I really appreciate you being so open and honest about your experience! It really makes me feel less alone on my own journey, which hasn't been as straight forward as I thought it would be. So thank you!

This is the second video I've watched of yours and as an undergrad student in my third year it is so helpful hearing about your psychology journey. You have an incredibly warm and comforting energy, watching your video makes me feel more certain about my pathway. I completely agree about the misleading nature of Pyschology in Australia, its frustrating that Clinical Psych is pushed as the 'most ideal' pathway. I have so much love for Psychology but I think the system within universities and competitve nature, is incredibly discouraging. I've currently applied for honours everywhere and recently got an offer from Monash for a Grad Dip in Prof Psych, however the course is full-fee paying. I would love to go to Monash, the location is ideal and I love the campus and uni life, however this course is full-fee paying at $33,000. I'm not sure if its worth paying that much and possibly exceeding my HECS/FEE-HELP amount if I continue into Masters. I am still waiting to hear from other unis about honours offers, however I am very drawn to going to Monash. I would love if anyone could possible give some advice!

It really is such a slog applying for all these masters courses!
My ideal course is Ed&Dev, though not feeling confident about getting in at all. I have already received an MPP offer which I would be glad to take though, and financially it would be the smarter option too.
All the best with your applications.

Hey. So, I just finished my honours. I made first class, but WAM is 83.9%. So, I don't know if I'll be in a similar situation as you.
I am so over study. I think I could qualify for clinical, but I couldn't see myself handing 2 more years of study right now.started in 2019...and at this rate it will be 2026 before I'm fully registered.
This is such an unbelievably challenging and long path.

I am sitting here watching your video and eagerly hoping you will tell us that you got an offer for the Master's program :) Well, that will be me in 2026 applying for the Master of Neuropsych, which I am interested in.

You have a first class Hons and that wasn't enough?! Oh that sucks. I also have first class Hons and recently inter for a MCP, now I'm not feeling confident. I also applied at Monash and that one was the most challenging one for me to apply for too. Good luck with your applications and thank you for sharing your journey and information on courses.
