    I don't know if you come back to look at comments, but your five minutes describing the RX7 experience is "perfect." I've owned an 83, an 85 and currently an 1982 GS and, of course, you have to have driven and owned an RX7 to appreciate your comments. The car is simply perfect. For an enthusiast, it doesn't get any better. Well said!

    Damn Justin! Not exactly sure what you’ve been through but good job on being tough and I loved the video and the whole topic and how you did it! Reminds me how it feels to ride a motorcycle.

      @JustinReves  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Max! Thank you! And yes, you smell JUST like when you ride a motorcycle. Every time I get home my wife: “You smell like gas”. It’s like cologne for the adventurous. (At least that was the case on my ‘84 CB400T too)

  • @thom100

    I'm still in the process of getting my wife to agree to me getting a 1971 Dodge dart, my first car. Sure I can do oil changes and a few other things on my new vehicle, but working on the old girls is definitely therapy.

    • @JustinReves

      The classics are definitely easier to work on - very little computers and simple. And usually some space under the engine, too! Wishing you ALL the best in convincing her!!

      It's too bad they're bad on gas and unreliable if you don't take real good care of them. Because they are really special. I might try and get an RX-8 after this one dies. It's practical with 4 doors and 4 seats - basically the perfect family car ;).

    FB RX7 is my dream car. Fell in love with the rotary the second my neighbor gave me a ride in his street port with full racing beat exhaust.
    It angers me, because I could have afford one SEVERAL times if was willing to put the work into essentially restoring one. There were two things that always held me back from actually getting one: 1) they are consistently a good 40-60 miles away and had no way to transport it or 2) I simply had no where to put it.
    All I keep saying to myself is "one day". I know my time to own is coming soon, just waiting for that moment to arrive!

    nice vid. I have the '84 version of your car, same color, brings me endless smiles. BTW, these cars are really easy to make fast, and the apex seal thing isn't really a problem if you premix!

    • @JustinReves
      @JustinReves  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nice! I do always premix just to be safe. I love that I can hammer on this and it never gets me in trouble. I’ve done an S5 turbo swap into a 2nd-gen before. Was a little quicker but not as reliable as this one has been. And these ones still look GREAT. 2nd gens weren’t as timeless.

    My Dad had the same car with louvers on the back that was passed through three different family members, good memories learning to drive stick. My Grandpa even bought a replacement factory motor in the 90's. Unfortunately the rust became too much and he gave it to an old friend that collects RX7's.

    damn... Rx-7s to the rescue. Same here, going through hard losses and failures, no hope of looking forward to anything... then this little lady ( 1985 FB RX-7) shows up in my life. Dirty, broken, no engine or trani... And as I build her up, she builds me up. Now I have hope. Now I smile as I walk up the dark driveway after an exhausting day. Everything will be ok.

    Justin I’ve seen quite a few of your vids over the years starting with the Nikon vid (owned a Nikon at the time). This might be the best yet. It’s clear that you’ve learned how to master your craft to tell the story you want to tell. Shot on a G7 but honestly, might as well been on Netflix. Who cares about the gear! Story is king and this nailed it while being so tastefully shot. Not trying to look like anyone but yourself and just telling a story. I’ve subbed.

    the reason your rear feels like its loosing grip is because you have the worst dogshit tires on earth on the car, there are NO good tires from the stock rim's on these car's . Upgrade to 15 inch rims and put godo tires on the car, yo uare selling yoru car short, they have more grip than most modern sports car's and were true legends on the track.
