2010 spring turkey hunting, it was around noon and had a slower morning hunting so I stood up from my spot on top of my ridge near Treloar Missouri, took a couple steps and then something caught my eye, 80 yrds down the ridge to my left was a black mountian lion app. 175lbs and the tail was longer than it's body and the body was taller and a half body longer than my pet 105lb Akita, and was running across the bottom of my ridge so I got to look at it for a good 30 to 40 seconds about 80yrds out. I was in shock and disbelief not even sure what I was seeing. Turkey and deer are plentiful so I knew why it was around. Went to Missouri conservation up the road a few days later to report and they were not surprised as I was. I knew mountian lions were sometimes spotted in the region just never knew they could be black.

The black panther I saw in the wild in WA state, had beautiful lime green eyes...I never expected to see one in the wild, but glad I did! When I noticed it, in a small community, on our driveway, it was too late to try to make it back into the house, so I confronted it, from about 25 feet away. At first he paced back and forth, then sat. I told him to go south, since I knew he was too far north...:-)
Later, a man reported seeing one further south.
It was just beautiful and difficult for me to break eye contact with it, since it's eyes were the most unique I've ever seen!

Leopards are on record for hunting gorillas and eating and a jaguar has a stronger bite than a leopard. You'd thin k a jaguar coudl also eat a gorilla but they 've never seen anythign tht big in S/ America . I think instinct woudl take over once it was hungry enough yes the gorilla is toast. I have house cats that have made pitt bulls tremble in a corner of a room with one claw strie to the pitt's nose. Naturally the dog or almost any dog ifit can bite the cat it's dead that's happened to but it's really hard to surprise or out run a cat. They're just to fluid . It's liek tryign to catch a shadow or the wind.

A lot of people confuse black Jaguars and leopards for Panthers. They are of the predatory feline species of big cats but Panthers are larger, broader and have more mass than a jaguar or leopard. They're more like a sleek black lioness than any of the other big cat species.
