Hi Adam, If you retrain as a sparky you'll never be out of work. been trying to get someone to do a couple quick jobs at the house. everyone's too busy! Good luck and well done for doing what I never had the guts to do. I'm an old retired guy but I love to hear about the plans of you youngsters!
@@michaelpage2151 thanks. I'm 3 weeks in now and I think I'm doing a good job. I've had bad days and good days. It is difficult having to learn a new trade and does get stressful but I think its worth it
This video is about me changing careers but I can see why you'll think its about riding a motorcycle. Good luck with that. Riding is great fun. I recommend you look at the royal enfield himalayan. Its a great starter bike and is fairly inexpensive
Good luck with the new job man. It’s hard to up and change direction like that. I’m 40, have been a nurse for 15 years and think of changing career the whole time. I haven’t the stones to do something different as of yet.
Excellent! I changed job/career after 19 years in the same job. Almost a year in my new workplace and couldnt be happier! I'm 3 years older than yourself. Go for it is my only advice! Personally I'd have kicked myself at 60+ had I not changed.
Good luck mate, I know you'll epic it. I'm 62, I change my job every few years as they change my working conditions. I'm starting to learn how to ride a motorbike so you can do anything .
I worked for retail for 17 years and then went and changed it up to something completely different around your same age. You are def not too old man. Good luck on the future job!!!
It's a great opportunity to learn a valuable set of skills and be paid well whilst doing it. Grab it with both hands. It'll be a lot of hard work to begin with, but sparkys get paid well. Happy for you and hope it all works out well.
You will be unpleasantly surprised when you find out most jobs have gotten over-regulated, not just your previous one. I'm a trucker, and it's exactly the same here - mix of technology (computer surveillance/control) and bloated office and health&safety department. It's everywhere and I don't think you'll escape from it going into construction as much as you may want. Keep us posted, good luck with this major change!
Good for you, Adam. No, of course you're not too old. I was 44 when I switched from wholesale plumbing to Tech. Support - the best decision I ever made. 👍 🏍
@@EpicAdamMotovlogs I did not change countries. Apologies - I missed the bit where you mentioned that. :-( I think being an electrician in India will be a massve challenge. 👍
I got T boned in my Volvo on that Chivenor roundabout on Saturday 🤦🏼♂️ Trained as a plumber when I was 18, if I could go back I’d likely be a general builder and learn as many trades as possible
Chivenor roundabout is dodgy if you're turning into Chivenor from Braunton because people don't see you. I was thinking about training as a general builder because the new boss wants me to be multi skilled.
37 isn't too late. I've known people do it well into their forties. I can imagine that being a chef might be getting difficult in the near future if the cost of living problem gets worse.
It's strange to think that we could have crossed paths with you in the RN & me being a contractor for the MOD. The RN definitely provided you with a lot but it's good to be out
Well Adam they say change is as good as a rest and your change is a bigun 😁 electrician is a good choice .Hope you enjoy but remember the grass ain't always greener and winters on sites are cold unless your working in a lived in environment .👍
Good luck bud, the sparlie game is good, but the paperwork is a pain in the buttocks. Still it will be good for you to try something wise. You know where I am if you need any elp👍🏍️
I changed careers in my late 20’s. I don’t think it matters what age, within reason. I wouldn’t recommend a someone in their 60’s trains as a tree surgeon. Good luck! I hope it all works out 🤞🏼
Hope all goes to plan mate, learning a new trade is exciting plus you'll be able to do bits on the side and put the money into a bike fund that the Mrs doesn't know about 🤣🤣
Sounds a good offer. Same pay but you get training. Hope you end up getting some transferable qualifications out of it that allows you to continue along that career path. You're definitely never too old to change career path. Think I was about 42 when I'd had enough of management roles in factories. Took voluntary redundancy and set up my own landscape and gardening business. Good luck 👍
Good luck on your new venture Adam. Yes I retrained on tankers and I love the job seeing parts of Devon I would not normally have visited. Up on the Moors and right along the coast. What happened to your mirrors?
You’re never too old to retrain bud. Maybe that person was smiling at you because they saw North Devon’s second biggest motovlogger 🤷♂️ Hope it all works out for you.
I was about your age when I changed from working for a diving company after 18 years to running a picture frame shop for the next 27 years. Covid put an end to that, like it did for a lot of small businesses. I started all over again last year working from home in something completely different. Trust me, it's a slog at 64 starting over. It'll be a breeze at 37. I have tee shirts older than that 🤣 Re catering/hospitality - chefs are underpaid, most people in hospitality are well underpaid. You can see that as they can't fill the hospitality vacancies here or in holiday regions in europe, but what do they expect when you can earn more filling shelves at night. Hospitality workers have had a re-think, and come to the conclusion in a lot of cases it isn't worth it.
Have you retrained to do something completely different after years of doing the same thing?
3 times, ,😂😂 most people learn the first time, always good and learning is always fun!
Worked in IT for 10 years then retrained as a teacher. May well move into something else in next few years. Who knows.
Yup, went from a machine operator to an engineer on a submarine, to a health and safety bod at an airport! :-)

I hope not! I just turned 48 and I’m about to buy my first bike, I hope to get a lot of joy and new friends

I got lucky. My sister trained as a nurse late in life and now she's thinking about changing careers again.

I'll see you at Bideford Bike Show hopefully.
