- Once again joining the SROL group, this time for their classic Le Mans 2.4! After a fun race at Riverside, this one will be quite a bit different. Not only will it be a bit longer (2 hours and 40 minutes), but I will be driving the (relatively) diminutive Chevron GT. Powered by a BMW M10 with just under 200 horsepower, the Chevron reaches a blistering ~160mph on the Mulsanne. With the top class MKIV GT40s and Chapparal's capable of 220+ mph!! it will truly be a mirror watching affair
But as long as I can stay out of the way of the leaders there will be some great racing. The Lotus 47 and maybe the Porsche 904 and 906 will provide some entertainment. If I put together a competent strategy, avoid mistakes and really charge through the twisty bits, who knows how far up the 50 car grid I can make it?
Sounds like a lot of fun either way :)

Came for the historic racing, stayed for the jazz
"Esso." _Esso_ is short for _Standard Oil Company,_ once upon a time the largest corporation in America. It was found to be in violation of anti-trust law and ordered broken up in 1911. This led to the formation of new "Standard Oil" companies, _Standard Oil of Indiana, Standard Oil of California,_ etc. Many of these "Standards Oils" later changed their names or were subsumed into other corporations. Standard Oil of California, for instance, became Chevron. There are even a few "Chevron" gas stations branded as "Standard" still in existence in order to protect the trademark from being "squatted on" by any other company in America. Internationally, ExxonMobil holds the trademark rights to the names "Standard Oil" and "Esso."

I had a huge lag here because I forgot to turn off replay and I streamed the race on Discord so my memory was overloaded. However, after I stopped the stream, the fps became normal.
Hahaha. So much RAM nowdays, and people find the way to have not enough. Unfortunate!
I love driving the unique and weird cars in stuff like this. Even if they are absolutely horrible like this car. It's always good fun
Finally got the chance to sit down and watch after only getting to see quali live, great race and even if not a race race from your side its a great insight into what it must have been like for the rear runners of the old lemans. Seeing these beasty Fords come blasting through the field and seeing the battles happening right there with ring side seats, including all the incidents etc. Great to watch it all unfold on the VOD Jake, cheers for streaming it.

1:15:45 Yeah...this was about 25 SROL regulars and 20 new guys. And I didn't recognize any of the names crashing into the walls and sandbanks....
to think we made this race back in january with the THR League. 6h of absolute madness, 115 drivers, it was absolutely amazing. (and we finished podium in our classes !)

2:09:40 My top speed was borked from getting my front end smashed in on lap 3, so I was going the same speed as the ISO Grifo....but still handling like a Maserati. Giotto Bizzarrini worked for ISO after getting fired from Ferrari. He quit ISO after a couple years and kept making the same car under his own name. The only difference is the grille.
There's a fascinating book by Peter Grimsdale called High Performance all about the heyday of the British Car industry with a focus on the maverick builders who designed some of the greatest racing cars of the past. It's a great read.

How do I get that realistic sun glare? I'm running the paid versions of CSP and Pure. Only thing I've seen suggested is to turn on sun rays, but it doesn't look like that.
There's also a setting called "sun blinding" in the PP settings app while in game. It's difficult to find, admittedly.
... I'd try create some sort of do-Hicky that would allow me to mount two chains just for redundancy.

1:45:50 ... watched it several times in slowmotion ... he was too agressive, as I see it. He could not expect you to stay left in that situation. And if you would have stayed left, the car in front of you would have killed him.
That dude crashed almost every lap for 2 and half hours. I have a feeling we're not gonna see that guy next time.
It’s a pity that you were given one of the slowest cars available, it would’ve been nice to see you in a more competitive car, dicing for position especially given the amount of exposure that you give to the SROL as compared to any other streamers. Maybe something for the organisers to think about for the next one.
