    Erin, this video was so wonderful. Especially that timeline at the beginning. You have come such an amazingly long way, and you just look so incredibly gorgeous! So much of your experience rings so close to home for me. The physical changes, the emotional changes, the mental changes, everything. But I think especially what you spoke about at the start, that whole new feeling in life. The confidence you have to just be yourself, and how that changes the way you interact with other people and the world around you. I feel like I am just so much more outgoing and fun and comfortable than I ever was before, and life is so much more enjoyable because of it. I am so happy you are experiencing all of this joy and euphoria too!
    Now don't mind me, just gonna run off and re-apply my mascara real quick after all these tears. 😅💜💜💜

      Ashleigh, thanks girl! I'm glad you liked it and I'm so happy you are relating to all the things I am going through! We are finally able to express ourselves without judging ourselves. It's a decision you should make in order to move forward as a transgender person in my opinion. And I have realized this....its all about embracing the little experiences you never had before (as a girl). They are the ones that add up and make the whole picture beautiful 🌈💜 I hope you didn't get any in your eyes!!! 🥰

    Super uplifting video. 🎉 I like that you covered the mental aspect. I think allot of people can focus way too much on the physical. The mental can be harder to explain. I have heard it explained like running on the wrong fuel. Anyways, congrats again on your first year.

Keep up this wonderful journey and continue to share it with us. This video was great timing as I had a rough day emotionally and I had something to look forward to. I hope you have many more wonderful days and continue your journey strong. Congratulations! I was on HRT for five months. My doctor started me out on a low dose of spiro, and the patch, two months later, went from the patch to estrogen tablet. By month five, I got put on progesterone and never saw a difference. Wished I would've started on all three at once and not one by one. I saw no change, so I stopped taking it 😞

    Congrats on hitting your 1 year mark on HRT! It has been super euphoric to watch this entire video because of your constant positive attitude! I also love the subtle (well clearly obvious 😅) encouragement for all still closeted trans-people to start on HRT! Like countless others I watched this video late at night because im so filled with anxiety all day of struggling with my gender identity thet this is the only time I have to watch these videos. I'm also glad you mentioned how youve also taken anti-depressants in addition to HRT. Is it normal for most trans-people to also be perscribed that before &/or starting HRT? I know I need therapy first, but is there a certain point when you know you need to take those anti-depressants to try and cure your depression first though?

  • @njlauren
    @njlauren ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Erin-
    You look great! Every time I see you ,you look so much more like the young woman you are, it comes out ( and you look a lot younger than you are). You are looking more and more like a pretty, intelligent young woman, it comes out from your entire being, I really see no sign of your old self in Erin, that was there in the early videos
    HRT does a lot of things as you point out. It was weird, besides feeling calm, the way I thought changed. I was always intuitive, but after HRT it was heightened. What was really weird was my sense of smell was heightened, when I smelled things it was like I could smell the components.
    I was fortunate, I didn't have the roller coaster from hormones. Injectables used to be horrible with that kind of thing. In a sense hormonally HRT kind of subjects you to what pregnancy seems to do.
    As the women that taught our lamaze class told the women, you will cry at anything:). The swings also tend to level out over time.
    Depression is common with trans ppl. Me personally I couldn't stand being on anti depressants, the effect was worse than what it was curing, on a pediatric dose I was a zombie, tried them all. I have a suggestion, I am not an MD and by all means ask your doctor if there is any contra indicating with HRT, but I would suggest trying St.Johns wort. In Europe they use that before they use the pharm stuff, it helped me bc it wasn't so strong.
    One thing I did want to say with HRT is that it isn't a cure all..I understand the feelings,and how much it brings, but it also is only part of the puzzle. The reason I am careful with this ( and I am by no way,shape or form criticizing you,Erin, you know I am cheering you on!) Is that not surprisingly a good percent of trans ppl have baggage, comes with the territory, and like with depression HRT may not make it go away. A lot of girls go into it thinking HRT is the magic bullet, it is gonna make them look femme, it is going to bring out the real them, etc and get disappointed when it isn't. The problem is HRT can only do so much, it isn't a magic bullet& ppl end up depressed bc it isn't totally magic. HRT can also make things worse,the emotional surges and the like can compound existing issues like depression or hopelessness or the like. HRT is an amazing thing, ,some of it is physical ,some of it is joy at making that step. It is also why HRT is a great test of sorts, for someone who isn't really trans, who has some sort of fantasy or is otherwise not in that space, it will rub the wrong way. Especially those where it is a sort of sexualized thing, when HRT cuts the libido, where they no longer have the huge sex drive T gives you, it weeds out people,makes them realize what they are not..
    Again, the feeling on HRT can be amazing as are the physical changes, just saying it isn't a magic bullet for everything. It is why I recommend to ppl work on the whole package, work on the emotions with a trained person, that and hrt together will do a lot more:)
    Thanks for sharing your journey, every voice out there is a voice helping others to find themselves and hopefully help non trans ppl understand us.

      Erin-
      Hopefully I didn't come across as an old grump. Your obvious happiness and joy is really a good thing to see, you have faced a lot of challenges and the work shows. My perspective is my own, too.
      It isn't really limited to being trans either. There are people who say 'i will be happy when I am making more money', 'I'll be happier when I move to x', then find out they aren't, that they were pushing the happiness of on something else. I saw girls who were full time, been on HRT for years, who put their happiness on getting GRS..then found out that wasn't it.
      HRT is a huge step and don't let me minimize it, it can and does do a lot..body shape, facial features, body hair going pfft, the emotional stuff, it is amazing. Even things (to me) like orgasms or the ability to fully experience sex was a huge effect of HRT ( and everyone with that is different too)
      I hope you continue to be this happy and enjoy it, this really is an opportunity for you to be the teenage girl you weren't allowed to be, have fun with it. Nice part is you also have adult wisdom so you won't do the more questionable things teens do:)

    I think you’re very lucky! You have a beautiful body and a wonderful personality. You are young. I’d be proud to have you as a friend, but that is probably not going to happen. I live in Europe and besides, I could be your father. My tragedy at my age is that I am too old to come out now. I have to say, though, that this urge did not start until a few years ago, although I started wearing pantyhoses that I secretly borrowed from my mom at the age of 11. But let me be clear, this is not just about me cross dressing. I am questioning my sexual orientation as well.
    Anyway! I hope you find someone special (if you haven’t already). I hope you find love and your soulmate.

      It takes a while for most ppl. 1mg is a pretty low dose IME, when I started it was 2.5, and they then jumped it to 5 ( these were oral doses, it would be different for pstches or injectables since they are direct). It also varies by the kind of estrogen they are using.
      The other thing is are you on an Androgen blocker,like spironoaldactone? Hormones dont work well alone.

  • @sjm8067
    @sjm8067 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    HRT is hormone replacement therapy, if you didnt have the hormones to start with, you can't replace them. The term HRT is for women going through menopause who are struggling with the symptoms of their naturally declining hormones.

      Endocrinologists use the term with trans ppl to. It indicates in a trans person that you are replacing what they had with something new. With a trans women and a woman in menopause the goal is the same, to get the estrogen levels back to what a woman has pre menopause. In a trans woman it is basically flipping the testosterone to estrogen balance from make to female
