It's more about personal preference at that point. Nah. Hakeem has been overrated since he retired. Hakeem had a couple great playoff runs, but he wasn't universally feared for most of his career. In fact, at the time, people would have said Robinson and Ewing were just as good. And they were probably right. Hakeem way overrated in these convos.

Also the average center in WIlt's time was 6'10.5" so he wasn't a fott taller than the whole league. The overall talent he played against was better because the amount of spots on the teams were less because there were less teams.
Duncan's size was that of a center, but he played pf not c for most of his career!
@@quitinfolkes4639 Nah, he was listed at center for 10 of his 19 seasons, which is more, and even in his seasons where he was a 'power forward' he still spent about 40% to half of his time on the floor at the 5. Once he turned 30 and Robinson had retired Duncan spent essentially all of his minutes at center.

Hakeem Olajuewon wasn't just a great center but he's the only center who can say he dominated his competition in the most dominant era for Big men 80"s/90's. Olajuwon went head to head and outclassed David Robinson and Dikembe in playoffs, he got the better of Ewing and Shaq in a finals, Hakeem was unstoppable in his prime I would've loved to see the Rockets of 94 and 95 season against the Jordan Bulls idk who would've won but that was going to be a 7 game series!!

Wilt could easily benchpress over 500 pounds, had over a 40 inch vertical leap, the only player in the history of the league to play every single minute of the year, meaning his stamina was off the charts. Wilt Chamberlain would dominate in any era. He is a true freak of nature.
Yet he couldn't beat Russell for the championship. Russell is the most underrated NBA player hands down.

@@sprince0029 Wilt was too nice on the court. He had all the physical talent you could want, but not that killer instinct you needed to win. If the game was only played 1v1, then yes Wilt was better, but the game is played 5v5. Russell was a master of strategy and an all around player on both ends of the court. He did what was needed to win championships and that's why he was better overall.
