As a half Liberian half Gambian, you never lied about the jollof rice thing. The originators Senegambians and Liberians make it the best with the seasoning down to the bone and onion based cooking technique.

My mom taught me how to but I totally forgotten. I will asked her again. And it’s the best!!!!!! And than you can also make torborgee without the bitterballs. Great. Very honest. You didn't like it and you said it. Cool. As of Jollof rice, it is tomato paste, not tomato sauce. Nigerian just use excessive tomato paste and no vegetables and little flavoring unlike Senegal and every other places around, like in Gambia, Sierra Leone, Guinea or Ivory Coast where it is mixed with a lot of vegetables like carrots, cabbage, green beans, fresh tomatoes, onions and a lot more ingredients as seasonings. Nigeria Joloff is just Rice, tomato paste and little oil. I totally dislike it.

@@Searchforuhuru: I think I did eat Togborgee once or twice in my life. Never like it. But the essence or importance of eating Togborgee is, simple. It serves as a cleanser. It purge your body and cleanse your entire system. It's like Detoxing your body and purging it of all the junk. The bitterness helps cleanse your gut and stomach and build the immune system. Essentially, every Liberian dish has much-needed nutrients for the body. Different from foods in the U.S. That's the real soul food.

LOL, Both of you are tripping. I lived in Liberia for 5years and taught at BWI in Kakata for 4 years. In Monrovia, I lived at Paynesward and Ashmun street behind EJ Roye building, I have eaten every Liberian food ever including the so-called Torborgee, I hated it, but all the same, I love and still today eat Cassava Leaf, but I beg to differ about the Liberian food and all that jazz you guys talking about, there are no comparisons, it is not the best as far as I am concerned, it stands on its own. Between Liberian women and their food, I rather have a Liberian woman over their food. I think they are the most beautiful in West Africa, that is my opinion.
