Its all a moot point. The games are selling so badly, there's no way they're gonna raise enough to fund the manufacturing of the controllers.

      Grumpy Pants strikes again!
As was mentioned to you elsewhere, "chasing sales" at the startup level is a naive and remedial mindset. You establish your Market FIRST. John is doing that real nicely right now and will build along.

@@PuzZLeR_00 Ah yes, the classic argument of "Sales data is a terrible way to judge public interest in something!" from the same smooth brain that brought us "They don't need a console!" and "They're really just selling the family experience!"

@@SomeOrangeCat Initial sales data IS indeed a bad way to forecast, especially at the left side of the product cycle curve in Innovator and Early Adopter stages.
Even when the sales were reasonably very good with the pre-orders it was still no reason to celebrate yet.
There are chasms along the way that need to be conquered towards Mainstream ("family experience").

I'm a big fans of the original Intellivision ,but I didn't spend any money on the amico for funding the new console , probably because I'm back with the retro gaming since a year approximatively, so I didn't live the amico hype when they just started. I might buy in the future the amico controller if they include one or two games with it , we should be able to use it with the BBG entertainment intellivision games that they are selling on steam

You know I was thinking since it's just an Android style device why don't they just simply make it a handheld. This way you don't need to produce any controllers that work on phones but they could just simply play right off of a handheld system itself. They can still produce the amico home but have a few exclusives on the handheld. I think it will be more logical these days. It'll be easier to add through a store and everything. Or maybe it's just me. Great video.

Amico never meant to be a "Retro Machine" long term.
A massive retro library would be nice, but that "something people really want" would be in the minority (you and I included). The real lucrative market is Casuals, Boardgamers, etc.

I'm once again excited for the Amico, if only to get a chance at indie development. The controllers combine several great ideas from generations past that I thought would catch on but never did: the private display on each controller from the Sega Dreamcast VMUs, inter-system connectivity by using Game Boy Advance units as GameCube controllers, and all the features that were shoehorned into the Wii Remotes and Wii U GamePad. With just the controllers, the Amico has all the gimmick it needs. The unit itself could just contain a Raspberry Pi for all I care, but I still want to get the console, if only for my parents who are not as tech-savvy.

Dude, great comment, and I reflect such in my comments in this vid. And I too, as you know Comrade, am SUPER EXCITED about the Indie Dev Program.
And, just for the sake of OG for the moment, the Amico controllers would be absolutely fantastic and the best experience for playing OG games (such as Vectron, Deady Discs, Night Stalker, Baseball, etc.) that are an absolute pain on only a D-Pad (and a keyboard, regular emulation, whatever).

I am amazed there are still people who look at Tommy and the crew he assembled and somehow are still talking about this thing like it's legit. They "spent" 17 million. That money might as well have been blown in vegas casinos.
What is it going to take for anyone who gave these guys money to even take the most tepid change in tone? You were lied to and stolen from. You should be angry...not criticizing anyone else with the common sense to see the amico scam for what it was. This should be a lesson but I am not seeing any lessons being learned from the same sorts of people. IF you came into this with no conception of what a conman is, you now have one in Tommy and Jon respectively. They arent your friends. If you think fondly of them it's because youve gotten yourself into a parasocial relationship with them no different than your average swiftie to taylor swift.
Dont be a mark. Dont be a rube. If you were conned out of money here, and arent even slightly embarassed about it or angry, then it will happen again.

Hey, I love Intellivision and got my first one in 1980. But why are we still talking about Amico and it's controllers? It's an epic failure and people lost a $#!T ton of money on that disaster. They don't even have the funds to manufacture controllers by themselves.

You're waisting too much energy thinking about all of this. Regardless of the Amico cult or the Amico haters, the fact is nothing other than Amico Home will be released. The Intellivision organization is just a couple of guys at this point. They don't have the money or knowledge on how to release any type of hardware.

The uniqueness of the controllers is really most of what Amico hardware was all about and the console was really just a lightweight base and hub for them all along. The console "light show" can easily be simulated with a USB/Bluetooth dongle accompanying the controllers.
You don't need the console. It's nice to have proprietary hardware, but why bother when it's way too problematic for a small company? Also, there is plenty of established hardware already out there, like, for instance, the MILLIONS of Android devices in homes RIGHT NOW.
Beware the future of "consoles" such as on nVidia Sheild - look for Sega, Atari, Neo Geo and others to make some huge console comebacks of their own when this is successful.
