I’ve had mine for 3 months now. There is no preparation for this type of dog. You have to seriously drill what you want them to know early and they turn out good super smart dog
Cool adventure. Reminds me of my red Merle driving around with her on the lookout for deer or cows in what else but a Red Jeep. Had her for 14 years. I miss her, just the best type of dogs those azies. Have fun with yours.
Your reunion was so cute! Just goes to show even when training calmness when we depart and arrive, there are times when it goes right out the window. You both deserved it! ❤️❤️
For the burs, I use a little coconut oil (I think almost any oil should be fine) if the area is too delicate, it slides out pretty easily after. You two are awesome!
i had a cotton de tulear long haired dogs and ours got a ton of burs i have learnt that its easier to do it if the dog is in water since the fur is loosened unless its already twisted, then scissors are the easiest way
i don't know if this is going to be helpful, but i have a maltese that also gets a lot of burrs on his hair, so to make it easier i usually comb with a wide metal comb and sometimes if its really stuck i put a bit of detangler (i think you can also use coconut oil but i'm no expert so please check it if it's safe for your dog first) and then keep on trying! i love your channel and your relationship with frankie, thank you so much for brightening my day :) wishing you guys the best!
Grats Frankie! You got 25k, you’re definitely worth that. I’ve been following for quite a while now and I don’t think I’ve ever watched so many videos from the Sam channel as this one. I’ve truly waited for every new video and been so excited every time. Congrats again :)
It's official: I'm getting an Aussie. I absolutely love being active and I love how intelligent these dogs are so, so intelligent :D I'm kind of scared but I'm so excited
Consider adopting❣️Lots of people get them for the same reason you are, then they discover the Aussie is smarter then them. Remember they need HOURS a day of enrichment and exercise to make them happy and balanced. Most Aussies in rescue groups are in foster care, therefore they are assessed which makes it easier to find a good match. And you’re saving a life! They will thank you every day for it! Good luck🐾
I’ve had several family Shepard’s (German and Aussie) in the past and I’m about to get my first pup Of my own now that I’m off on my own adult whereabouts. Super excited and loving your channel
Nothing better than an Australian Shepherd wiggle butt welcome ! As a pup, Doppler got ticks on the top of his head, just being in the backyard. If you are in US, you can send the tick to East Stroudsburg University for free analysis.

. Those awful giant cockle burrs are the worst! Best idea is to get them out immediately before they imbed next to the skin, especially under their armpits. Even if you have to snip them out, get them quick! Enjoying Franco and Joey's adventures.

Hello! I've been watching you for the last few months since getting my dog, thank you for all of the great tips you've been giving to us! I'm just wondering where you went hiking, I also live around Ottawa so i'd love to take my dog out there. It looks super fun :)
Do you treat Frankie with flea & tick meds? I’m just curious on your personal preference. I have a new MAS puppy & Im on the fence. Would appreciate if you’re willing to share.
Maybe I missed this in the video but, what kind of flea/tick/heartworm prevention do you use? I have been hiking with my mini aussie pup and she loves it! But now that it's getting warmer ticks are a big fear. I have pulled 3 off her in just a few days!
@@FrankieToTheMoon thanks for the reply! My pup is on a hydrolyzed diet for food allergies so some chewables don't work, but it depends on the flavoring. I will ask my vet about the nexgard ingredients.

I love your videos, thanks for making them. So how much does Frankie weigh? We're "in the market," deciding between a standard and mini. I'd like to connect Frankie's visual size to a number. Thank you! And do you think there's any temperament difference between males and females?
Frankie weighs 40lbs! So he’s a very large mini. And yes there are definitely temperament differences between the two. I find the ladies are a little more laid back, and the boys like do be apart of the action at all times
Awesome that you are giving Franks some good food! Just so you now: Bold by Nature is not NRC balanced: so dogs don't get a complete balanced meal. You can feed up to 20% without any issues, but if you feed more than you have to balance with the kibble and the raw. Many companies will lie and say their food is balanced: If it's truly balanced: than it's supposed to meet NRC standards. :)
@@FrankieToTheMoon Hi! Hope you see this: Damn your right. Sorry about that, I know I normally comment with some advice, but I know that has a negative side. I can get a bit OCD sometimes. Not trying to sit on my high horse at all. I'm not a professional and definitely get things wrong and make mistakes! Just really passionate about dogs: there's a lot I didn't know before and wish people would tell me. But I know that sometimes that's not welcome, or sometimes I can get a little too excited! I think you guys are great, and I really enjoy your channel. I can see how seeing those comments often can be annoying or taken personally, I would probably think that anyway. Genuinely sorry about that: at least you know that I had good intentions! I'll fix that up don't worry. Take care!
I use a undercoat rake first then a slicker brush last, undercoat rakes are kinda the same they have teeth spaced apart. The fork thing sounds funny try the undercoat rake, I think I paid $6 for mine at Menards, they are pretty cheap.
Hey Aussie owners, do any of you have tips for dog reactivity and stranger danger? My Aussie was good but learned to bark at other people from a family dog. Now she reacts to everyone. She’s still a pup and I’m sure will over come this. Please no one tell me she’s doomed and should be put down. Already herd that and didn’t listen because I believe she can get over this. Just need some tips on how others have over come this. We are seeking a trainer soon but for the mean time need help.
Use people walking by. Put some peanut butter on a spoon. Make the dog sit. As the people come by start talking to the dog. Say easy or something. Use the peanut butter to distract the dog to get him to ignore the people walking by. Use the word yes to let him know he’s doing what you want. It took me at least 9 months and a TON of treats to get my Aussie no to lose it when she saw another dog or person. She’s 14 months and doesn’t pay them any attention now.
When I looked up the definition of a dynamic duo in an encyclopedia, I found you two!🥰

It is super high in Omega 3's / essential fatty acids! For the breed specifically it really helps their coat be healthy and stay shiny !
