Got two aussies (4years and 5 months). Pro: having them play together and seeing the pup learn from the big one. Con: older dog misbehaving because he sees the puppy misbehaving and thinks he doesn’t have to obey to the rules anymore
Same here are older girl acts like she’s deaf all of a sudden like genuinely doesn’t even turn her head but this is a dog that can do all kinds of incredible tricks and training and has been trying for years and years
We had 2 Aussies both big males black tries 60 lbs+. So much love and fun but they both passed away early because of cancer. I miss them every day. they would keep other company , play and play, didnt seem to be any extra resonsabilty with 2 but if there was it was well worth it. Enjoy your doggies while you have them. Its so sad that dogs have such a short life and they must die old and sick.
I have 2 Aussie’s standard, they are double the fun, both are less than 1 year old. The hardest part is training separately. But it’s worth it. They play while I work…They takes a lot of time.
3 Pro 1 company when you are at work etc 2 creates them to challenge each other in a good way - exercise and play 3 double the fun 3 Cons 1 Vet Costs 2 Different Needs - training techniques - diets ( separating foods due to allergies ) 3 living space
I found that the effort for two Aussies was three times the effort of one: the interaction between me and the one, the other, and between the two. But three times the love too... But you have to go into it eyes wide open.
The second I bring my camera out, my Aussie immediately pretends literally ANYTHING else is more interesting. I have very few photogenic photos because she just knows
when dogs get older, having two can be extremely helpful for their quality of life. growing up, my family had work and school during the week but my two beagles were like siblings and hung out with each other all day. they would cuddle together and play together. one of them went blind later in life and the other would help guide them around. if you have the time, money and energy - having two dogs is for sure worth it!!
Pro: our dogs keep each other company when we are at work during the day. Con: it can be harder to get a friend or family member to take care of 2 dogs if you need to go somewhere and can't take them with you. Depending on the needs of the dogs it can be a lot to ask to take 2 dogs rather than just 1.
I have 2 Aussies. I had not planned to get them so close together but i got them 3 months apart. Training 2 puppies is very challenging and would not recommend getting them so close together. Train your first dog thoroughly before getting the second. However, they are so much fun! I can’t imagine my life without them both. They get along well and it’s fun to watch them run, play, and wrestle together. Lots of laughs!
I have 3 Aussies. 2 Mini, 1 standard. They’re all somehow runts of their litter. But they have all the energy of an Aussie. Pros: They play together, learn from each other, when one gets in trouble the other gets to learn from it as well. And it’s basically the same as having 2, it’s just more. Cons: More Fur. Also, the older male doesn’t like the younger male ever since he was a puppy. The older male acts out more because of jealousy. The female is an Angel of course. I’d say the HARDEST part is you can’t train them simultaneously. I mean you can, but they are either distracted by each other or they’re competing for attention rather than following the command being taught. I have to wear them out physically before I can start any mental stimulation, as is with most working dogs, and if I really want to make progress I have to separate them to teach tricks. It really is a lot and anything more than 2 Aussies is definitely extra work, but it’s worth it because the 3rd has become a better friend than the 2nd. And the 2nd is a moody cuddle bug that only wants to be with me or other humans and depises other dogs. The 2nd also loves running with me and is the most behaved when being exercised. They were all relatively socialized they just have different personalities, quirks and preferences. More of a ramble than a pros and cons list but they’re so great and I’m resisting getting a 4th every day 😂😂😂😂
Getting a 2nd Aussie for my first Aussie was one of the best decisions I have ever made when it comes to dogs. They were best friends right off the bat
Pro: Bandit (a collie mutt we rescued who is about a year old) and Tom (My 1 1/2 year old Aussie) they will play together and Tom teaches Bandit the territory boarders and come and things like that. Con: they do fight over food (and me) Tom is VERY protective over me and his food so they often get into a barking or growling fit.
We also had 2 Aussies, but recently lost one of ours. Your Franke reminds me of our Piper who passed away this past May. I really just wanted to thank you for all your awesome videos. Makes me miss our Piper, but at the same time laugh at how funny and awesome they are. Looking forward to more of your videos.
I have a 2.5 yr Black-Tri and a 1 yr Red. Both Aussies and both have similar, and at the same time completely different personalities. My oldest grew up with my (at the time) 5 year old Norwegian Forest Cat. He's so calm, sits like a cat - very reflective of having spent close time with a cat. My 1 yr old Aussie is my "quarantine puppy" and because I was home a lot, I never gave him many restrictions so he's pretty energetic. What I love about both is that my oldest really has taught him a lot and especially how to act around their 7 year old cat sister. Even my oldest "speaks" a lot more and has gotten more playful which I love to see. Yes, there is more hair, more mess, more poop cleaning, but none of that has ever been a problem for me. The only thing that is a bit burdensome is that it's easier to go places like cafes, music shops - enclosed spaces with one medium size dog, but having two (esp with one a bit wild) is a bit much. BUT working with their trainer to get them calmer esp the youngest so it's easier to go to places together. I have my own house with a front and back yard so they have the space to run free. My work is a hybrid schedule where sometimes I work from home and sometimes I go into the office. And even then, the office is dog friendly. All of these things give me the freedom to have both and for them to also live comfortably. If I lived in an apt or worked outside of my house all day, I would not have gotten another Aussie. So, definitely take a look at where you are in life before you take on another dog, especially an Aussie.
First of all,... I truly enjoy your video's! I just discovered your site today (07JUN 23). I was just chosen this morning to adopt a mini Aussie which I'll pick-up in the coming days. I'm SO EXCITED!!! I'm recently retired and have nothing, but time to dedicate to my new family member and other members!!! To your question,... I've had as many as 4 dogs of various breeds at one time, ranging from 50 lbs to 65Lbs, while working full-time. Two of them have passed in the last 18 months do to age. My current remaining 2 are so bonded. They do everything together! So when I have to step out for a few hours, I know they are in good paws with each other. I can't imagine having just one dog ever again. But that's me! 🙂
Two Aussie family! But not just two aussies... two DOUBLE MERLE aussies!! Both are deaf! Chantey (2yrs F), and Ollie (7mo M). I love them both they are nuts. Pro: play pals! The cats get harassed less because the two dogs are more interested in each other and have the same play style (reenacting the final battle of The Lion King...) Cons: Sharing... Ollie wants to share and be part of EVERYTHING, Chantey sometimes wants to do her own thing and isn't thrilled about having a sidekick 24/7.
It’s more than double the work when getting a second dog. People need to know it’s not like your current dog will teach your new puppy everything. You need to take time and explore everything with your new puppy, while maintaining training and socialization with your older dog and still keep being a leader for your dog. I thought it was hard being a leader for one dog, but when getting another dog, it was a lot harder. But after getting two dogs and learning how to control them and being a leader I feel like I could get 10 dogs and still be fine ❤️
@@TheScoobysteve in my opinion, dogs don’t get jealous. That’s a human feeling. Dogs claim you and that’s the thing you need to look for. If I give one of my dogs affection, I push the others away
I have 2 mini Aussies (a 1 year old and a 5 month old). We were worried at first because my older dog has so much energy so we thought the other one would be like that, but the puppy was actually easier with the training in general! Pros: they both get along and entertain each other, the younger follows the oldest lead and doesn’t chew on things because is playing most of the time. / Cons: at some point my older dog stop listening as much. But finally things are going back to normal 😅 I love watching this channel! It was the first one I started watching when I first got my older dog Luna! And it helped me a lot! Frankie & Indie are awesome!
Indie doesn't come across as a typical Aussie :-) She seems very calm! I could not agree more with you! A dog doesn't need another dog for companionship. You're your dog's best friend! If I wasn't my dogs best friend, I would really question myself as a dog owner and as a person.
I have my working Therapy Dog Aussie, Hunter, and my mini-Aussie, Lucky. Hunter would have been perfectly fine as an only dog, but he also loves being “Doggy Daddy”. I went on to foster fail two more littles - a chi and a muttly, and we call Hunter “Big Daddy”. He takes care of all of them like they’re his babies, and keeps them in line when they step out! Having multiple dogs is definitely a lot more responsibility and it’s a financial obligation as well. I know everyone loves dogs, but I don’t recommend getting a dog unless you have the time and financial ability to care for it the way it should be cared for - and that means, as if it were your human child. Dogs need a lot of interaction, attention and care. They need to be registered, licensed, fed good food, taken to the vet regularly, and provided with medical care from the vet when something isn’t right. These things cost a lot of money. If you’re not able to provide those things for your dog, you should rethink getting one. And two or more is not double - it’s more like 10 times the requirements. So yes, I recommend having multiple dogs - but only if the human is able to care for them appropriately. ❤️
Happy Easter everyone! I love the new intro😂 Frankie and Indie are such well-behaved dogs it blows me away every time. Also, that picture of Indie and Franks looking over the back of the car seats is so cute! 3:55
I have 3 dogs: 2 older labs and a 1 year old mini Aussie. The hardest part is walking all three on a lead together. All my dogs are well trained and heal and sit etc but 3 is just a lot. Best part is all the kisses.
I have 2 male Aussies myself, currently 5 months and 6 months. I've had them since they were 6 weeks old. We chose to get them close together to get house / potty training over with. 1st one was potty trained by 8 weeks old, but the 2nd one kept having accidents up to 3 months... That was the biggest con for us. Also when it came to training sessions, we'd have to separate them to maintain focus when learning new commands. Lastly, sometimes they can play pretty rough but knows when to switch off for their daily naps throughout the day. Which I feel like is due to our consistent daily routines in the household. But also it was important for when choosing a breeder that breeds well tempered pups, 🐶 I feel like thats a big misconception when it comes to Aussies.. "They're all high energy 24/7". Also, a lot of people don't know that theres a huge difference between show line vs working line Aussies. To conclude: no matter how many dogs you have consistency and routines are key. We love our Aussies so much that we plan to add a 3rd one soon! ❤ They've taught us patience, compassion, empathy and just overall love love love.
I know it's not the same than having 2 dogs, but I have a 5months australian sheperd and a 3 months kitten, and it's exhauting cause you have to give each one attention, and then you also have to be careful when they're playing, so that they don't hurt each other, or they don't make a mess of your house :') But when they lay down for a hug it is so damn cute you forget everything else ^^
Most cats are very independent. Even if you don't give them much attention, they will never be destructive. They like doing their own stuff and sleeping most of the time. Dogs need to have discipline and training. If not, they will become very annoying, destructive and even aggressive. I have 3 cats. They only need about a total of half an hour of socializing everyday. I just adopted an untrained 2 year old Aussie. She needs constant attention, lots of intense exercise and walk. 1 hour is not enough for just 1 Aussie. And she is aggressive toward my existing dog, bicycles, motorcycles, and sometimes even people walking and talking on the street. She hates noise and is very nervous inside my minivan and even walking on the street. She was an outside dog with absolutely no indoor experience. She wasn't really potty trained. I bet her previous owners never walked her outside of their property. I believe she was never socialized with other dogs. It is a nightmare. Cats are always much better in terms of maintenance.
We have 2 mini-Australian shepherds and it has worked out great. I think because we are both retired and they get our full attention. I totally agree you have to have the time to spend with them❤️❤️
We have an old dog (border collie) who will be twelve years old. He has back problems. We have also taken a puppy aussie. In the past we've always had two or three dogs. There have never been any problems. Now it does cause some problems and they do not correspond to each other. Sometimes they match and sometimes they don't. We can take the moments out of it, eating moments, moments of attention and playing moments (of the puppy). So we also ensure that the oldest dog gets enough rest and attention, separately from the puppy. We also leave them together but make sure that things don't get out of hand. Greetings from Belgium.
I have 2 dogs. Tiffany (a black lab) is 4 and Kylo (Australian Shepherd) is 1. They play Constantly and are Best, Best Friends! Tiffany has taught him sooooo much like how to protect himself if he needs to (playing taught him that), how to walk nice on the leash, how to not get too far away from us when not on leash. Watching them together never gets old. This is absolutely the Best!!
Two Aussies would be too much for me...the wife and I can barely keep our one boy occupied! We do have a second dog and he is a 100 lb. Rotty/Chow-Chow mix. He is not too active (lazy, actually) and just loves to be around his people and occasionally play with the Aussie. I noticed that when you let the dogs out of the Jeep you had a harness and leash on. Good job! And make sure you pull up on that leash and harness when they jump out to prevent the dog from hitting the ground with full weight on the front legs. Our last Aussie jumped out of our pickup at age 8 and screwed up her leg. It bothered her off and on for the rest of her life (she lived to age 14 and still took her daily walk 'til the day she died). Pros of two dogs? Twice the love. Cons of two dogs? Lots of fur (we vacuum twice a week)! Loved seeing both of these dogs and their two unique personalities!
As the owner of 3 dogs, it is mostly better all around than having just one. The best part is that you get hilarious dog-to-dog behaviors you would not see out of your dog any other way. They cuddle, they play, they tussle, they take care of each other, they plot to get the best of you. The downsides are not that it is more work or a lifestyle change because you are mostly into that situation anyway. But it is a bit more expensive in terms of healthcare costs, accessories, and food. And there are times when their needs are different and you have to slow a walk down to accommodate your smallest or oldest. The other hassle is that they can sometimes get into each other's food or squabble over a toy or chew. But having had just one dog several times and for many years, and also having had 2-3 dogs for many years, I feel like I strongly prefer the multi-dog mode to the single dog mode.
I love watching your videos, I have two golden retrievers and they are literally the same as your dogs.😊They are totally different, but that's what I love about them❤
We have 3 Aussies. They are all sisters from different litters. Three totally different personalities and while being 6, 4 and 2, they all keep us VERY busy and entertained.
I have two dogs, I think the most important thing is knowing what sort of personality would gel with your existing . If you get that right, then happy days.
My husband and I have a full size aussie that we rescued. She is 3. We have an 11 year beagle mix boy. One pro is seeing how different they are in personality and just everything. A con is it is a lot of work with two. Vet bills especially. Just make sure you can take care of both of them. My husband and I go to work 8 to 5 but then we are home most of the time.
I have two dogs (one is lab mix, 14 months old, the other one is mini Aussie, 8 months old). The older one used to be shy and afraid of people in general since he’s been abused and abandoned before. But his personality changed a lot after we have the second puppy. Pros: They accompany each other all the time. They learn from each other. They play with each other at home. They’ll never be bored. The older one feel so much more confident with the second one. Cons: They learn bad habits from each other too. So be careful to have the second one if you haven’t trained the first one very well yet. My second pet dog used to be protective of food to the first one, like growling when the first one came close to her food. I spend quite a mount of time to train the second one to be friendly and generous on all the resources with the first one. She’s doing quite good now. They never fight with each other for food or any treats.
I have two dogs. We have Lucy, our 4 y/o blue merle border aussie, and we have added Rider, a 4 month old blue merle mini aussie. they do amazing together and having little Rider gets my lazy lucy outta the house and running. Having two dogs is awesome!
Two years ago i found a wonderful little black tri girl. Shed run full speed around the yard so happy "being chased", i swear she was smiling. A month later i was able to get her sister....litter mate red tri. She was like omg....i know u!!! They r inseperable. I spend one on one time when they are being grumpy with each other. They are perfect my little monsters. I feel so lucky that i have them both.
Have always had two dogs. On my third set. First one growing up was a toy sheltie beagle mix and Irish Setter. Second set was a boxer and a blue tick coonhound. Currently a Borderhealer and Aussieborder who are first cousins and they are two months apart in age. In each case the second dog helped to mellow the first. The hardest thing is having to separate the dogs during initial training. One pup at a time. Otherwise it is a joy having two
I have two dogs (a 1 yr old male blue Merle Aussie and a much older border collie mix) the pro is I don’t worry as much leaving them alone in the car or at home because they’re less likely to freak out since they have each other, also having the border collie to play with my puppy is really nice for energy terms. The con is when they are best friends and one of them runs off to maybe do something “bad” it’s possible the other one will follow and then it’s harder to get them both to come back to you especially if one of their recalls isn’t as good as the others. Basically if one of them is barking at something then their both barking at that something and that’s a different situation to deal with.
We have three mini aussies…14, and two full blooded sisters one is a year and a half and the other is six months old…they make amazing pets if you are ready for dogs who can and will work together to get something they want…even if they shouldn’t have it 😅😅😅
We have 2 dogs, and have for the better part of almost 12 yrs. JUST got our 6 months old 3 wks ago, Louie a black tru aussie he have our 8 year old cattle dog rescue mix. We lost our senior aussie in June. Love this breed. Its a lot with 2 but I wouldnt have it any other way. He plays but Izzy doesnt. Bery different personalities. She is very independent, he is more needy, like our last boy.
We have two minis. One we adopted just before Christmas. There is never a full moment in the house or our lives with them.....but couldn't imaging not having both and wouldn't change it for the world
I have 5 dogs all different they are all different ranges and can be protective of who was here first but in the end they play together and pro they all are amazing and there different in there own ways but con they all are different wen liking things a certain way but they are literally my family even in the bad days. 3 weeks ago I got a mini Australian Shepard and he’s literally everything to me know but u have to show attention to my older dogs which yes is a pain sometimes but they somehow connect in some way.
I have 2 aussies a blue Merle and a ghost or phantom Merle. Wevdo have acreage and cows for them to play with. They have a lot of energy at 3 and 5 yrs old. I am watching my daughters 2 yr old red Merle for 6 months while she moved to another state. Adding a third is craaazzzzzyyyy. It’s crazy how one more to the mix is totally crazy once there is more than2 you should have 10 lol.We play a lot of frisbee, catch, swimming in the ponds and herding cows.
i also wanted to say that i had 2 dogs ( one of them died last year ) and it is pretty hard on working with them when they are younger but when they are older they get easier.
Pro: I have 3 doggies (5 year old Yorkie, 10 yr old black lab, 9 yr old Aussie) that live on a farm, these dogs have brought so much happiness and love in my life! I learn so much from each everyday!! Con: I am a grad student and 3 dogs are time consuming but it’s a nice break from life and school!!!
Cool! Thanks for talking about this. I personally think that Indy is the perfect 2nd dog in ur situation. It would be totally different with 2 energetic dogs like Frankie. Indy can help calm and Frankie can help ramp up. Perfect combo
with some dogs, having a second alleviates or prevents separation anxiety in homes where the owner is away at work all day [we will get back there] - so nice to see Bruce Pit again!
I have two dogs (soon to be 3) and it’s definitely something that takes getting used to but 1. Your dog will have another dog to constantly socialize with and a con is that they can be more expensive because there’s vet bills for 2 dogs rather than just one, you have to buy more food, grooming for 2 dogs is more expensive than one and the dogs might take a while to get used to each other but honestly a lot of these cons you already have dealt with because you have indie over often it’s definitely awesome having multiple dogs it just takes some getting used to and you need to make sure you have the money and time to care for two dogs!
Also i would say invest in a trainer, I know it seems like you can do it yourself, but having a professional trainer for 4 weeks 1 hour day made all the difference. When May comes around we will do 4 weeks of of leash training to get the proper license to take them hiking. As you stated they are living creatures and they get distracted easily. It is amazing how people just let their dogs off leash and start to yell at them to come back and they don't because of another dog or other distraction. For me having a great experience with my Aussies has been teaching them to do things like park it, or roll over or fetch, and jump up or hold or break. But the fun part is that you have to keep training them every day 30 or 40 mins at time.
Needed to see this video Joey thanks!, I have really worked with my two Aussies and fighting and jealousy has gotten better. Baylee only eats while in crate with food manners. And pua has gotten 3x better with food manners. Baylee is slowly understanding that it is not okay to hurt her sister or act up :) my mom or step dad hasn’t complained about their behavior to me , and I think it’s getting better. Ima keep training even tho it’s difficult😁
I have a full sized Aussie (10 months), and an 11 year old Jack-chihuahua mutt/mix. They DO NOT get along, my life is VERY busy taking care of both and making them both happy. Pro: I love them both like crazy and DO NOT regret having both wonderful dogs. Con: I’m very tired!! 😅I really enjoy this channel, thanks for the great content! PS: The most peaceful times are when I’m training both dogs together. They are both very food driven and focused. If they are not getting along this totally redirects both dogs attention and can get everyone balanced again. 👍
Don’t have two dogs now, but did when I was like way younger. It really depends on where you live and what’s your lifestyle, and how you are and how your dog is. We had german Shepard’s. We lived in the country and they had plenty of space to roam though they never roamed too far. They’d go visit a neighbors dog, or go talk to the other humans in the general vicinity while I was at school. There weren’t much cars around and they’d wait at the driveway where I was let off the bus and then they’d eat and we’d play and stuff. And go on walks. They never had official training but I think like cuz I’m an anxious person and have been an anxious person, they just learned to stick close otherwise I’d freak out. Pros: They have each other as company when you can’t give them 100% your attention. Cons: They have each other as company when you can give them 100% of your attention. They get each other into trouble. And they know when they’re in trouble or have done something bad. They’ll blame each other. It’s funny but the messes are ugh.
What a great video we have seen Indi before in some of your other videos. we have two Australian Shepherd‘s one blue merle, one red tri, they’re both minis weighing about 38 pounds apiece they are each other‘s best friends they’re both female they get along and are bonded in fact I don’t know what would happen if one of them wasn’t here. the pro is they are such amazing companions you are absolutely right when you say you that you have to have time for your dogs if you don’t they will find ways to entertain themselves! but that’s not the con the con is oh my goodness all the fur it’s everywhere there are no vacuum cleaners made that can keep up with shedding Australian Shepherd‘s LOL!! but the love and the companionship makes it worth it. Keep the videos coming. Brad and Diana It’s about time now
I have 2 dog's. My older dog is 6 and he is a border collie and I have a 1 year old belgian malinois. Pro: they can keep eachother company at time. Con: they both have different energy levels so they tend to get mad at eachother.
I have a 3 year old black tri male Aussie. I lived in a one dog household for 3 years before I moved in with my sister who has a dog and then we had two. My dog had never lived in a multiple dog house so it was a big adjustment for him. But I think it’s so much better because: 1) my sister’s dog is older than mine by a couple of years and is a lot more calm natured than my crackhead lol. He taught him how to relax and chill out when needed and my dog taught my sister’s how to play and interact. They balance each other out perfectly and are best friends. 2) the nightly cuddles with two dogs is just unmatched. Nobody loves harder than dogs and there’s never enough cuddles haha. 3) my dog actually started to listen much better to me once we went from one dog to two. I don’t know the reason for this but I’m not complaining haha HOWEVER the only cons I’ve really got to complain about are the amount of freaking hair. I vaccume at least every other day. 2 black dogs is just a lot.
I have a 14 year old black tri male and 1 year old red Merle female. The male, Dalí, has a heart murmur Dulce wakes me if Dalí needs help at night. Dalí shows her the ropes of doggo world. The cost is the only down side. Your advice on introducing two dogs is spot on. Thanks
Pro: younger learns from the older one so the learn quicker. If the second isnt a pup, their personalities mash. Have a crazy 4yr old golden and added “calmer” aussie pup 2 years ago and the golden calmed down a lot. Con: when you have a well trained dog you forget how hard puppy/ crate/ potty training was
So, you had one dog and now two. Your dogs are wonderful, very compatible and seem happy. I am extremely loyal to my animals and they are to me. No way I would give my animals away. They are family. My wife and I feel the same way which is very important! Wishing you and yours a good day every day!
Sage 1.5y and Ty 1y are completely different personalities. Each one has different training needs. Exercise is key! Agree with not getting a second Aussie if you don't have time for the first
Hi my prettyminiaussie_juliette is my best friend ❤ I've been inspired by your playfulness and love for Frankie. We take long walks and swim at the beach. But always looking for a rescue for Juliette to play with but living on Grand Manan Island NB isn't easy. But some things are meant to be! I'm definitely going to build an obstacle course instead. I recently did a huge reno and couldn't decide what to do with all the wood scraps. I can't wait to find a carpenter to build it! I'll keep you posted! 😊
When the second dog is a puppy, the amount of work is crazy. If you have your own place where the dogs can play together its gonna be easier. I chose my breeds together wisely and minimized the energy needed when put together and chose a breed that natirally learns from its elders. We havent hit the 2 year mark yet with the younger one but have to say that having a senior and a junior together is rather easy. A 10 year old doesnt have the energy of a 2 year old so i dont need to run with two dogs. But got to say that their bond is amazing. They get to be dogs together everywhere we go ❤
Have 2 aussies, kinda similar to yours (one was owning since a puppy and is almost 2, the other was adopted at 1.5 yrs and is almost 3). Pros: Seeing the differences between the two every day. They have such different personalities, but their bond is crazy cool. Con: They will build off each other's energy. So if one is on alert, the other is immediately on guard and ready. It can be difficult to calm down both at the same time if you're by yourself.
I have 3 dogs the first one is a 4 year old German Shepard, The 2nd is a 4 year old Jack Russell as well, and the last is a 1 year old Catahoula mixed with a Bluetick Coonhound, the Catahoula mixed puppy is my emotional support dog, he is in training. He is very well mannered but my other two dogs, my German Shepard has been ran over 3 times and is VERY skinny, My jack russell is a drama queen she likes to bark at my other dogs when they do any little things... I would say im over run by them all lol
Besides my Aussie I have a mix breed rescue dog and two cats. They all used to be high energy, but my Aussie drained them and now is ready for his next 6h walk.
My family used to have 3 dogs unfortunately two have them have died (1 German Shepard, 1 one Cocker Spaniel, and one unknown breed though she was a small dog.) The Cocker Spaniel is the one left and we recently got an Aussie. Pro- None of your dogs feel alone when your out and they always have a play mate Con- When the dog is feeling alone they have other dogs to be around
So, had collies around 49 yrs. Currently have coĺie/ ausshep + collie both male, they play rope tug on their own everyday. 7 + 5 yr Olds. Very tiring. For stimulating their brains get a soft squeaky toy, just sit on the floor & hide ball on you, they LOVE to search for it, that works for half an hour of search, find, search again. An exercise ROUTINE is essential. My boys also get to run around the ranch all day keeping their collie eye on horses.
I just love all your videos!!! Camera angles are amazing and such good thoughts and discussions. 4 more weeks until my boyfriend and I get our Aussie and love hearing your tips!! So helpful
I have one dog she is a mix australian sheperd/ border collie and then my mom has a border collie and hè is with us now and then. There bought still pups. And I can tell you it’s a lot of fun but also a lot of work.
I have two dogs, huskies. One is 11 in December and the other is almost 9. A positive is that they keep you on your feet. With mine I always have one that is always doing something it shouldn’t be doing, so your kept on your toes. (Don’t know if this is a good positive but it is for me, I have anxiety and my boys help keep my mind off it, and the one has anxiety too so we support each other 😂). Negative is that there can be fights, mine have had fights over treats or bones and the one decides to take it off (doesn’t happen a lot).
Having 1 dog is like having an only child. I’ve owned and bred dogs since before I ever was. When I was born my parents were already breeding Great Danes. I’m 50 now. Of course some breeds do perfectly fine by themselves, such as Shih Tzu’s, but high energy dogs such as Boxers, Aussies, or even Dachshunds do a lot better with another dog. It alleviates a lot of their anxiety issues and they will play a lot with each other, which allows you to do other things.
Info: I have a pit bull mutt and a purebred husky both at around 2 years old. My boyfriend had his husky when we met and I got my pit bull about 4 months after. Pro: we each have our own best friend that matches our personality. And someone to play with when we go out (we work odd hours so not many other dogs go out when we do) Con: they help each other get into trouble and sometimes they can get confused if I ask them to do different commands from each other
We have two 7-year-old mini Aussies that we got six months apart. They’re best buds. Pro: They play together throughout the day so they don’t require quite as much exercise/attention from us. Con: The younger doggo gets major separation anxiety when his buddy has to go to the vet without him.
Got a second dog (great pyrenees) when my aussie was still a puppy (around 6 months). Pro: Aussie has someone who will tear around the big backyard with her more often! So even on rare days when I've got too much work to do the dogs still get plenty of exercise and playtime without me, and they love playing together. Also they keep each other company when we're not home. Cons: Aussie gets territorial over her food which has led to fights with the pyr and we basically have to feed them separately to be safe. But to be fair she even gets jealous when she sees me feeding our horses and thinks I'm giving away food that belongs to her - it's a thing we haven't been able to train out of her yet, in general. So far the most improvement we've seen is she doesn't fight over their regular dog food anymore but if we ever want to give them special treats/bones, they have to be separate.
I have 2 Miniaussies, Willow (red merle) who is 2.5 years and Aspen (one of her pups, a blus merle) who will will be one. In my case is waa different because I didn't have to worry about there first meeting. PROS: To see them play together and run in the bush puts a smile on my face every time. They are truly inseparable. They even have to walk side by side when on leash. If for at any time they have a burst of energy they always have each other. The pros out way the cons hand down. CONS: Everything you did say in the video is true (expense, more dog hair and more time consuming re brushing...) But I find it somewhat impossible to spend time training one of them if the other is close by. The other gets jealous, as you know aussies always want to be with their owners. The other thing I have found is going over to someone else's home. Bringing along one dog is one thing but have 2 can make it challenging. They have their own Instagram Mini.aussies.aspen_willow Willow will be having another litter hopefully in the next 3-4 months. Love your videos and I also leave about 4 hours away from Ottawa
So I have a 3.5 month old Aussie and I love him. Slowly I’ve grown to feel like he really sees me as the leader. He is becoming a close and loving friend. I do want another Aussie to play dog play with him but if we never got another it would also be ok. I have short clips of him on my channel and how he is with my toddler. Tbh I only have one child and do not wish for a second but for sure would take another pup
Our two dogs were pretty easy. they were 10 years apart, and our oldest was pretty lazy and didn't like dog parks (didn't even like toys) and our puppy is really energetic. So I spent alot of one on one time with both since they were opposites.
I have a German shepherd heeled mix and a pug. Pro: the dogs will pick up some of the others mannerisms, traits and habits. Con: the dogs will pick up some of the others mannerisms, traits and habits lol. Meaning if one is lesser trained or has a flaw like my pug will run outside and bark endlessly at passers by and my German shepherd heeled mix picked that up so be careful and make sure that the dogs don’t pick up bad habits that the others may have especially if your adopting because obviously they were trained by a different person
My neighbor got a second dog because they were too lazy to play with the first. Dogs never leave their yard. They don’t even walk them. 🙁 I have one Aussie. She’s my second. Almost 4 years old. First lived an amazing 15 1/2 spunky years. New to your channel. Willow say wuff!
I just found your channel and I love it!! You make great videos and the dogs are gorgeous and clearly well loved. I only have one doggo at the moment - a border collie. I love dogs so much, but I'm just loving being able to spend so much time one on one with mine and I really don't want another one at the point in our journey. He's only a year and a half, I have had him since he was 6 months. He came from a pretty rough home, and he's come so far in every aspect and we just have such a special connection that I don't think there's room right now for another. And he's happy with that too I feel, because he loves his alone time and has a best friend he visits alot. In saying all that I think if you are equipped and prepared, the more the merrier. But intentions have to be in the right place too
Pro: they clearly love each other and adore spending time together Con: if they’re on different food when they first come home ours only wanted each other‘s food which made it really difficult to feed them. Second Second most important con: I need more hands to pet them do is not enough when they both white face pets (Both female Aussies)
We got litter mates. Husband: “it will be easier”🤦🏻♀️ Me: does ALL the training (exhausting to train 2) While they have each other and we love them both. Everything is so much harder. Also I feel such guilt to kennel one and work with the other. Or kennel one and walk the other. So much work! I’m Sure in the end it will be worth it.
You have the best of both worlds with Indie! Frankie has a companion when she's there and then you guys have one on one time when she's at her house. Hope to bump into you and Frankie at Bruce or Conroy Pit someday 😊
Hope everyone enjoys the video, hopefully these comments wont convince me to get rid of one of the floofs 😂
bah, two aussies is easy. Lets see you do two border collies.
Try 3 really energetic dogs and a rabbit
Do they chase the bunny or does the bunny chase them? Lol my rabbit would have chased them. 🤣
Got two aussies (4years and 5 months). Pro: having them play together and seeing the pup learn from the big one. Con: older dog misbehaving because he sees the puppy misbehaving and thinks he doesn’t have to obey to the rules anymore
Ohhhh that is interesting! I do even see that in Frankie when indie is over and vice versa depending on which household we are in
@@FrankieToTheMoon One of Scout's dog friends doesn't have the same level of impulse control and whenever she is around he forgets all his training.
Same here are older girl acts like she’s deaf all of a sudden like genuinely doesn’t even turn her head but this is a dog that can do all kinds of incredible tricks and training and has been trying for years and years
same here but with the cat, the dog is like "how come this little bastard can jump on the table and I can't ? Neverminf I'm going !"
I have the exact same thing. Two Aussie 4 years apart. One caught the frisbee, the other thought it was rugby.
3 Pro
1 company when you are at work etc
2 creates them to challenge each other in a good way - exercise and play
3 double the fun
3 Cons
1 Vet Costs
2 Different Needs - training techniques -
diets ( separating foods due to allergies )
3 living space
I found that the effort for two Aussies was three times the effort of one: the interaction between me and the one, the other, and between the two. But three times the love too... But you have to go into it eyes wide open.
I have two shepherds, they learn from each other . Every day is a new day. Looks like you are a good 👍 pack leader.
Cons:
More Fur.
More of a ramble than a pros and cons list but they’re so great and I’m resisting getting a 4th every day 😂😂😂😂
Hello! Hops all is well. I have a standard Aussie. Do you have video or photos of the standard next to the minis??
@@gilianXlr8 yes I’m sure I could find some
I love the clip when Frankie brought the stick from behind 9:06
-Drop it!
*clunk*
love that =D
The cats get harassed less because the two dogs are more interested in each other and have the same play style (reenacting the final battle of The Lion King...)
Cons: Sharing...
To say nothing of the fact that the first dog can become super jealous and possessive. It's quite confonting seeing a new puppy get snarled at.
But finally things are going back to normal 😅
I love watching this channel! It was the first one I started watching when I first got my older dog Luna! And it helped me a lot! Frankie & Indie are awesome!
Indie doesn't come across as a typical Aussie :-)
She seems very calm!
Aussies are my favorite types of dogs and i love them and your videos
I look forward to Frankie and Indie videos. Thank you 😊
Happy Easter everyone! I love the new intro😂 Frankie and Indie are such well-behaved dogs it blows me away every time. Also, that picture of Indie and Franks looking over the back of the car seats is so cute! 3:55
He is getting more and more comfortable in the jeep again!
I have 3 dogs: 2 older labs and a 1 year old mini Aussie. The hardest part is walking all three on a lead together. All my dogs are well trained and heal and sit etc but 3 is just a lot. Best part is all the kisses.
9:06 this part is so cute 😂 he listens to you so well hahaha
Three totally different personalities and while being 6, 4 and 2, they all keep us VERY busy and entertained.
why does Indy always look like that girl that walks into the party, and realizes that another girl has the same dress on lmfao.
omg
ha
😂😂😂😂
Love your videos! We've been thinking about getting an Aussie but not sure how it would be like. Your videos are amazing!
I have one red-tri Aussie. Adopted her one year ago and she is just about to turn 5. I really enjoy your videos. THANKS for sharing!!
I have two dogs, I think the most important thing is knowing what sort of personality would gel with your existing . If you get that right, then happy days.
That is a great point!
Great video .. I have a 2 yr aussie .. I find your vids so relaxing..
My 1st dog is a mix breed rescue. 2nd dog is a mini-aussie puppy. Pro is they play a lot together!! Con is you miss the alone time with your 1st dog.
I also have two. A Red Tri Mini and a Black Tri Toy. They are great pups. Jake and Shiloh
I almost thought you were not going to show us the lights on the tree at night, they came out really well. I love your videos, keep them coming!
Brad and Diana
It’s about time now
I have 2 dog's.
But I think it’s so much better because:
1) my sister’s dog is older than mine by a couple of years and is a lot more calm natured than my crackhead lol.
I don’t know the reason for this but I’m not complaining haha
HOWEVER the only cons I’ve really got to complain about are the amount of freaking hair. I vaccume at least every other day. 2 black dogs is just a lot.
Lol, when Indy didn't recall and Frankie went to go get her. Super cute.
Agree with not getting a second Aussie if you don't have time for the first
Hi my prettyminiaussie_juliette is my best friend ❤
I've been inspired by your playfulness and love for Frankie.
The recovery on that rabbit joke😂😂, nice video!
Outro song is called "Light Workers" by Magdy Haddad
There it is! I never know, i just found it in TH-cam's library one day
I have 3 dogs the first one is a 4 year old German Shepard, The 2nd is a 4 year old Jack Russell as well, and the last is a 1 year old Catahoula mixed with a Bluetick Coonhound, the Catahoula mixed puppy is my emotional support dog, he is in training. He is very well mannered but my other two dogs, my German Shepard has been ran over 3 times and is VERY skinny, My jack russell is a drama queen she likes to bark at my other dogs when they do any little things... I would say im over run by them all lol
Pros: more protection, helps with working.
Cons: More dog food, more vet bills.
Besides my Aussie I have a mix breed rescue dog and two cats. They all used to be high energy, but my Aussie drained them and now is ready for his next 6h walk.
me who just got two australian shepherd pups like youtube couldn’t have gotten more specific
Hahah how is it going
My family used to have 3 dogs unfortunately two have them have died (1 German Shepard, 1 one Cocker Spaniel, and one unknown breed though she was a small dog.) The Cocker Spaniel is the one left and we recently got an Aussie.
Pro- None of your dogs feel alone when your out and they always have a play mate
Con- When the dog is feeling alone they have other dogs to be around
So helpful
wow thank you so much!
And someone to play with when we go out (we work odd hours so not many other dogs go out when we do)
Con: they help each other get into trouble and sometimes they can get confused if I ask them to do different commands from each other
We have two 7-year-old mini Aussies that we got six months apart.
They have their own Instagram
Mini.aussies.aspen_willow
Willow will be having another litter hopefully in the next 3-4 months.
I have one Aussie. She’s my second. Almost 4 years old. First lived an amazing 15 1/2 spunky years.
New to your channel. Willow say wuff!
8 muddy paws to wipe each time they go out! :). One taught my other who was not a barker to bark. But double the love is a bonus. 🥰
But intentions have to be in the right place too
Pro: they clearly love each other and adore spending time together
Con: if they’re on different food when they first come home ours only wanted each other‘s food which made it really difficult to feed them.
Second Second most important con: I need more hands to pet them do is not enough when they both white face pets
(Both female Aussies)
We got litter mates.
Husband: “it will be easier”🤦🏻♀️
Me: does ALL the training (exhausting to train 2)
While they have each other and we love them both. Everything is so much harder. Also I feel such guilt to kennel one and work with the other. Or kennel one and walk the other. So much work!
I’m Sure in the end it will be worth it.
Be careful with littermate syndrome!
You have the best of both worlds with Indie! Frankie has a companion when she's there and then you guys have one on one time when she's at her house.
Hope to bump into you and Frankie at Bruce or Conroy Pit someday 😊
That reminds us, we need to visit Conroy Pit soon!
