    Your footwork videos have been excellent on nailing the basics! Very succinct and well thought out. Hopefully you can show some full footwork patterns and maybe add additional tips for in-game specific timings and decisions.

    Can you do a video on Lin Dan's footwork? His footwork is the most energy efficient and the most stable.
    I would like an analysis on his footwork.
    Thanks!

      Yes, Lin Dan defintly has an amazing footwork that is extremly efficient. He is also brilliant in reading the game and anticpating, so he doesn't have to make corrections to his footwork so often and it always looks like he knows already very early where the shuttle is coming. I will think how I could make a detailed video about the footwork of topplayers =)

      Tobias Wadenka Lin Dan's footwork is very different from lee chong's and our footwork. He has a unique footwork that needs a lot of hardwork to learn. Moreover we all are taught Lee's footwork in many coaching centers. Watch this video to understand it better:
      Lin Dan and lee chong wei epic 1 step (Madminton). So it's better if you recommend Lee's footwork.

    Many thanks for the great videos, Tobias - really well explained and illustrated. Do you think you could make a video explaining where the focus should be during singles (in other words, what the player should be looking after hitting a shot: the shuttle, the opponent, their racket etc.)?

    • @tobiaswadenka8435
      @tobiaswadenka8435  5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      A good question and also a very complex one. During your own shot it is important to look at the shuttle. When your opponent is hitting there are many things you should try to observe, first of all where will he hit the shuttle, how much pressure does he have and is he in or out of balance. The three aspects of room, time and balance will give you a good idea of what shots he can or cant play. During his shot there are a few more keypoints you could focus on, like the hip, the elbow, the racket, the body tension before the shot... You see it is very complex and there is not a specific point to focus on. I will try to make do something about anticpation and reading movements in a future video.

    I have been busted in many times in this position 2:47. After playing a net/drop shot in the forehand side, my opponent sometimes takes it early and plays either a (net shot) to the frontcourt backhand corner or (low clear) to the backcourt forehand corner. The issue I face is that for the next shot I have to move perpendicular to my stance in either case. If I move out of the front corner too early, he plays the net shot in the same place. I m losing rhythm and time. It would be a great help if you could explain (maybe in a video) how to do the footwork, where one takes a net/drop shot, playing a net shot, and then preparing for the next shot in all four corners. It may have to do with weight shifting between legs and its timing while doing the retracting motion. Please enlighten on this.

  • @tfreeddynelven9958

    Helo, I have a question. From what I understand, in real matches, we adjust our tempo so that we only get back to the centre when the opponent hit the shuttlecock, otherwise take the time to look for the opponent's movement while getting ready in the recovery. Is that it?

    • @tobiaswadenka8435
      @tobiaswadenka8435  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, don't rush back to the middle if you don't have to but use the time to recover a little. You should always look at your opponents movement, but slowing down can make it easier

      One of my learning in those kind of situation is, you move to the center, but STOP and PREPARE to change direction when your opponent touch the shuttle.
