Just finished my 6th week as an advisor. I feel the training and onboarding has been abysmal. I have the personality and drive, but this job is made needlessly more stressful than it has to be due to no one training me and giving me an outline of "what to do when...."

Is it commissions based? If so how much is your base-pay. I just got offered 650/week salaried for like 50+ hours at the job. Also what is the normal commissions structure?

@@nivp_6933 what is the commission on top of that?

I think a lot of it is just from experience, I've been chewed out for not knowing things I couldn't have known but knew what to do the next time.

@@Cresta-fm8uj got out of advisor work awhile back. Not for me. 6 months was all I could take. It was the worse culture I've ever been part of

I've been an advisor for 6 weeks. No training what do ever. Learning on the fly. I definitely feel that for the amount of effort, the money is lacking. Everyone says stick with it and the money will come but I'm averaging about 16 an hour and that just isn't cutting it.

My onboarding with a Lithia dealership was a major disaster. The manager put me on the line and abandoned me. No training. Nothing. Soon after they wrote me up for not hitting the expected goal in service sales. I could not quit that place and run away fast enough. Horrible experience.

Warranty will only cover so much. Example...with Toyota, they'll cover the steering rack, but not the alignment to finish the job. That's how it is. The customer doesn't have to like that, but it's up to the advisor to manage those expectations. The owner can decline the alignment, if he wants to, but there's no blindside. In many cases, as in the steering rack example, they'll happily pay the $100-150 for the alignment for the sake of a $1500 (or more) repair. It's all about expectation management. From the time it takes to get the job done, the costs, wait time for parts, possible side effects...a massive part of an advisor's job is expectation management.

Sounds to me like the tech that called in is catching hell for using parts like trim clips, cage nuts, push nails ect. All of these things fall into the "shop supplies" category. He should quit if his employer doesn't provide that sort of support or expects him to pay for those items himself. Actually the middle manager giving him a hard time should be fired.

lol I was triggered a bit triggered from the 2nd guy. If you've been working at the dealer for 17+ years, regardless, you should know how the game is played.

I wish this job was as easy and awesome as you say! I started last week, and I work with some smart-ass people! Also the girl I work with wants all the big jobs, and wants me to just wrote oul changes! The dealership um at is very busy, but no one cares about anyone except themselves. I can do this job I do believe, but the people I work with suck! I will be trying to find another job here soon. I actually almost walked out today

Lot to handle and learn but if you’re a good sales person you can make a bunch of money.

"Service advisors" are a sure sign that a customer is paying too much.
