    great video Giles, you're doing great, 7.07 relax, lol. we all been there. When you have your life in your own hands, It's difficult to relax. until you realize. The aircraft will fly itself most of the time . just like paramotoring, let it fly itself, Your tutor is very good, he seems to see what you're going to do with the bar and the rpm before you do it. look at the video again, you'll see you've nailed the takeoffs and touch n goes, they all seem natural , well done , its something i may get into next year

    Did my first day formal training, exhausting! I am at Lake Macquarie Airport NSW Aus, it is shortish with the sea on one side and the lake on the other. This is not a problem if the engine keeps going. The problem is high trees close to the north side of the strip, we had a north breeze, and so rota. Anybody with experience would not have a problem, I don't have experience... A very hard day, confidence is not high. Still watching hoping for the click.

It's amazing what you can learn from flying the length of the runway in terms of precise control of the aircraft, and if it touches down then call it a landing.

A few places I land at have a line of trees 150-300m before the threshold, or to one side. When it is breezy you get a lot of turbulence off them and therefore require more height and a steeper approach … just a thought … otherwise you're looking like you've got the landing sorted!!! Hi....i just wanted to thank you for your great videos on your learning process. Your attitude has been commendable. I have been taking trike lessons on and off for over 2 years now and only accumulating about 16 hours. My sporadic lesson schedule has really hurt my learning process particularly landings. I just can't seem to get them right and have considered pursuing other interests. I feel however that if I can just overcome the landing process, I can see this through to getting my flying certificate. I just wanted to ask you what you practiced, thought about, and really concentrated on to help master your landings. Any advice would be appreciated.

    • @GolfFoxtrot22
      @GolfFoxtrot22 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Todd, I really struggled with landings also. Having the camera footage, especially from the side really help me analyse where I was going wrong. My instructor taught me low powered approach ( not sure what your instructor/s are getting you to fly), but it allowed me to aim at a point, then transition to a flat powered flyby, 1-2 ft, then off the power and then stop it landing. Forward, flow flyby. I was really tense in the beginning but learning to be fluid on the bar is key. Landing is energy management, be it in a glider or a 747. The Flexwings just run out of the energy really quickly, my PeaBee more so. Once the bar goes forward, it never goes back ( I do try, I'm not perfect). I do admit I spent time with a broom handle, sitting in front of the TV with landings and physically landing holding the bar. in my living room. I appreciate this is a long reply and I genuinely hope it helps. I hope the other videos help as well. I'm still learning and I still get it wrong, it's all on camera.

    I did maybe two or 3 power on landings Like that during my training. All the rest were close in patterns, power off when Abeam the numbers, base to final no power. It's a steep approach in a two seater.

    Fly like a girl.Let that bar move around a bit.Dance with it and let the wing lead.Until the last ten seconds.Then you take over and show her how it's done.When you get it it right on a P&M trike it's almost a three point landing.Love my GT450!

      I'm getting there. I am letting the bar dance, I might not be obvious. I'd be knackered if I tried to control all the oscillating. It's starting to come together. More next week.

    Maybe you mentioned this, and sorry if you did, can you please tell me why you lean forward? Is it to give you more flexibility in your arms, or is it to bring your weight more forward in the trike for balance. Thanks.

    • @GolfFoxtrot22
      @GolfFoxtrot22 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's so I can actually get the bar fully forward to fully flare. I'm a bit short and my instructor mentioned to me that u should never have my arms locked out, so to achieve this I have to lean forward. It also allows me greater fine control as I can't achieve this by moving my body at the end. So by me pre leaning forward, I get full bar movement a and not lock my arms out. It seems to have worked.
