      @@gabrieljcardoso9387 Custom version of Android made specifically for the RG505 and the RG405.
      It improves performance, battery life, fixes everything that was wrong with the RG505 like the trigger buttons not functioning with some games and adds a lot of features like controlling the performance of the handheld to get more power and thus more fps from the console.
      Or if you would like you can downclock the RG505 to get upwards of 20hrs of battery life at cost of performance. So let's say you just want to play Snes or PS1 games, you can set the performance to low and it would run everything from PS1 and below perfectly and you would get 20hrs of battery life but if you attempt to play PSP or PS2 at this mode you won't be able to.
      If want to play for example PSP or PS2 or Wii games, you have to choose performance or max performance mode. Performance mode would get you the same performance the stock OS would give you so PSP perfectly played and a decent chunk of PS2 games BUT, if you use max performance mode you would simply be able to play more PS2 games because that is like an overclock mode.
      Gamma OS has many other features those ar the most important and its constantly getting better through online updates. In short Gamma OS gave life to the RG505 and it made it a strong rival to the RP3+ and imo it made it even better than the RP3+

    When I first wandered into the retro handheld market around 3 years ago, I found a few affordable devices that got good reviews but one thing I was looking for was n64, saturn & ps1, and as those devices came out and got better I found myself thinking I need psp and dream cast, but now I want ps2 and GC, the next device from ether of these companies will solve that, but then il want ps3 and xbox...

      I personally would be satisfied at PS2 performance topping out. The reason being is the library on the PS2 was much more enriching than the PS3 was. Personally, I'd much rather play Gamecube games than anything offered on XBOX as well.

    The consideration about OLED is that it's still dependent on the software being used. If it's got a lot of brights it will consume more power than an LED backlit display. Some devices will lower the brightness if a solid white screen is shown to offset this.

  • @slickslabmcknabful
    @slickslabmcknabful ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You didn't mention an important part of the screens...while touting the RG505 being better for PSP, or better for battery because of the OLED screen, it's a lower resolution compared to the RP3+. 960x540 vs 1334x750.

    I'm a newb in the retro handheld world but have narrowed my options to these two devices.
    RP3+ has HDMI which may be good for times I want to play on a tv, but apparently for beginners, the Emulator/ROM setup is a lot more of a task compared to RG505.
    But just for clarification, if I order the RG505 excluding the 128-256gb card option, there will be no games pre-installed, correct?
    If I go the route of getting my own sd card then, can I simply just connect to WiFi and get ROMs via google chrome app?? Kinda like on a Samsung Galaxy phone?
    All this tech stuff for a dusty gamer (my last system was Xbox 360 lol) seems to be a lot at first...thanks!

      @@honoredshadow1975 while i appreciate russ' reviews, he really doesn't take much time in setting up the devices he review since he has to review too many things. TH-cam is his main job now since he quit the army, so he has to cash in with the latest of the niche. You can see some his gameplays had choppy framerates while other reviewers were running the same games smoothly. I believe i came across a reviewer who mentioned the rg505 update where it fixes the diagonal resistance, but there is still a tough spot on the very edge of the lowest corner which to me as a whole even with that remaining flaw the anbernic hallsticks is still far better than any other devices within that price range, especially when compared to rp3+. That's why some users were trying to mount these hallsticks to their rp3 devices. However, you still get the hdmi and better ergonomic and a denser dpi screen with the rp3+.

    Might just be my opinion but that bezel on the Anbernic device is horrible and too big. Why have the name plastered in a large font in the front and have the same company name on the back? It makes like zero sense. I like how it looks more minimal on the RP3+. Also, even though the RG505 has an OLED screen, I heard it has worse pixel density than the RP3+. I also heard there were issues with the HALL joysticks on the RG505. Supposedly there was an update but it didn't improve things too much. Not a fan of those inline shoulder buttons. Also, the RG505 doesn't have HDMI out but the RP3+ does?
    Just to point out, I am not hating on Anbernic. I own a couple RG351Ps, RG351M, RG552, RG280V, a couple RG351Vs, RG351MP, and an RG353P.

      Emulating on solely Android devices can be quite intimidating. I'm not a fan of it myself either. I like how Anbernic uses Linux and EmulationStation. It just makes everything so neat and uniform, whereas on Android, everything looks kind of sloppy, ie open this emulator for these games, open this other emulator for these games, etc. Yes, you can use a frontend like DIG or something, but things look a lot more uniform in Linux.
