I really like the pump, it works great. Ive burned up 2 in the last 2 years though.(home use) The first one the bladder went and it cycled so much it burnt out the switch, second one blew out the intake and burned out with no water intake. 159$ cant be beat tho. the everbilt is made for shallow Wells and you have a deep well. You have to do the conversion, which is really simple, but your well looks to small to fit the ejector into it.
Those Drummond are a good value, it will definitely get you by but not super long term. I actually installed exact same pump. Worked pretty good for about 2 years before i had to make repairs to it, then i got another year or two before it completely went. I think i got about 20 years out of my submersible pump in comparison but 10 times the cost too and i do everything myself. So if you just needed something to get by or dont need water all the time these Drummond arent bad for the price plus they have built in pressure tank. Install is about as easy as it gets with well pumps. One line in, one line out, set air pressure on tank 2-3 pounds less than cut on pressure, make sure to fill pump completely full of water to prime pump, plug in and your ready to use.
the pump will work very well, the only flaw i find is the elbow that goes into the tank. mine cracked within 2 years. i had a pressure tank like you so i removed the hose and put a plug in the pump and i was good to go.
Shallow well pumps are only designed to pull water from about thirty feet down. Gravity prevents the weight of the water drawn any further. As mentioned by another, you need to put a venturi on your pump which pushes water down another pipe which offsets the weight of the water being pulled up. It works like an elevator with a counter Balance on the opposite side of the elevator car. The pump doesn't work as hard and won't lose prime.
Yes the HF web page of the pump shown in the video says it can be used with depth up to 26 ft. I’m still wondering what are good options for a single pipe (
I had a 30 foot deep well with a convertible Sears pump. It could run as a single pipe "suction" pump or a 2-pipe jet (deep well) pump. My water level was only 16 feet deep so a single pipe installation should work fine. However, I achieved much higher output with the equipment set up as a deep well pump. I had to buy the poly pipe (2 different sizes are used) and I used the supplied ejector. The instructions were quite clear on what performance could be achieved in both configurations.
Thanks for this video, I've been trying to decide on a pump for my 2000 gallon water catchment system that will supplymy 40 ft container unit. Would love to see/hear your ideas on the solar setup as I'm using an 11kw solar grid to powere everything. Thanks
I have a 3 inch dia well pipe into a shallow well 10-12ft deep. I use it to refill an in ground pool after vacuuming . Started having prime loss a few months ago and had to revert to house water refills after vacuuming.. water bill cost is horrible! I see u r not using a well cap..but using a towel.why not? I cant find a 3 in cap for mine and tried that but it worked terrible. Now replacing well AND pool pumps! Expensive!! Modifying a solid pvc cap to use as a well cap..might just work! Wish me luck.
It is about 60 feet down to the water table in my well. I am far from the grid and I like it that way and at the moment a little pump like this is all I can afford. I am hoping it will pull water from 60 + feet.
@@alwaysavailabletree5349 no. But it may be that I have a bad foot valve. I had a couple of heart attacks and quadruple bypass so I've not been able to work on it again yet.
@@alwaysavailabletree5349 l think it just takes time. I've prolonged my recovery by trying to do too much too soon. 3 weeks after I left the hospital I chop the tree down with an axe which evidently was not a good idea. But things are progressing so I just have to be patient. Hopefully I will get to that well eventually. What are you trying to do with your well?
So good of a video. How far from the well can I have the pump? If I have a well that’s 30 feet down and 20 feet from that well, will this pump work you think? I’d like to be able to keep the pump in the garage and use it for yard sprinkler, etc
Hi I live in rural California and we deal with PG&E power shut offs and loss of power in the winter time in our only water supply is electricity so I'm wondering how many feet can I use a piping to go on my well my love I deep well but there's no product for this what this work I've got tons of PVC pipe from when my mother-in-law lived on the property looks like the same size you used
I have a summer place where I get water from a creek,, used to buy Wayne pumps for my service wound up working on system at least twice a summer,, for whatever reason pump i was using ,a wayne, failed hardware was out of stock and i put in an everbilt from Home Depot, that was 6 yrs ago empty it in the fall ,reprime it in the spring ,have had no issues will never buy anything but Everbilt in the future… bty on the video the guy said pump would not pull the water,,read the specs that pump has a 25 ft height limit,,,, a submersible pump is the recommended type for that depth
Do you have a tutorial for entire setup I'm new to this, but our city water has high levels of lead, and radon I showed the water department and they said they can't fix it. So I got a well permits approved
Is this a 1hp 5 gal. hardened steel alloy tank Maximum flow: 950 GPH (gallons per hour) Pressure switch operation: 30 PSI On / 50 PSI Off Maximum suction lift: 26 ft. Stainless steel pump housing Maximum water pressure: 50 PSI Thermal protection with automatic reset Intake and discharge ports: 1 in.
I'm trying to pull water from around 70 feet down, really hoping this pump will handle it, a little confused about priming though. Does the pump have to get primed every use or can you put a check valve in near the inlet? Any advice would be great!
I would put a check valve towards the bottom of the well and another one at the top. I put one on my existing pump when it started to loose water when shut off.
I have one of the Drummond pumps for my shallow well how do I adapt the bladder tank a secondary because that bladder tank isn't big enough and I see you have one adapted to it
If I'm understanding you correctly you are wanting to run piping from the small tank that's on the pump to the bigger one I have on the video? If so you will need to run a tee pvc fitting to connect to the Drummond tank then to your bigger tank and the open end will supply water to your desired location.
Great presentation - right to it!! So I have a shallow dug well that's only about 14 feet deep and water is at around 7 feet and so that suction part should be no problem for this pump. Also, I know a lot of pumps at 1hp have a maximum water lift of around 100 feet (meaning vertical) now the area I need to water is probably only around 15 feet vertical lift - BUT - the hose length would be a little over 200 feet -- do you think that hose length would be fine for this pump??? I see many others say that with similar pumps that they have no problem with long hoses. Your thoughts on this are greatly appreciated and --- thanks for the great share!!!
How far Down is the draw pipe? I have a 62ft well with the water table at 25ft. I was told this wouldn’t pull if I put it down to 35ft. I have one and I’m still going to try it. Love the video and this product.
Do you have a video or suggestion for your setup for solar on this. I just installed mine and it pumps great, i just don't want to need to take a generator to it daily
I believe that other pump is not meant for drawing water upwards from a well, and more for pushing it fast through a mostly horizontal system, like a pool or jaccuzzi. don't quote me, but as far as I know water pumps need to be very purpose built, because moving water upwards is hard as shit
It is a shallow well pump, it can pull from 25 ft feet, any more and you would need a deep well conversion pump or a submersible pump. I use this exact one at my boat dock for washing down the boat etc.
If you live in the south which I assume you do (though I could be wrong) you might get a kick outta this yankee sayin' of course it aint gonna work if ya plug it up! 30+ years in Alabama and it still makes me chuckle! Plug it in/plug it up. The other one is 'mash' that button. Now don't just press it OK! Great video brother!
Bought one installed it, nothing, Has no suction at all. Yes I have put pumps in before and yes I did prime it. Not sure if I want to mess with another one or just go get from some where else. It will not even pull water from a bucket.
Is your pump from HD a shallow well 3/4 hp pump it's good to 25 ft. Deep well 3/4 to 1hp pump needed for anything greater with foot valve for good suction . Imho.
I bought the green harbor freight pump the other day. I'm having problems. The well is 21 feet down. The pump sucks up water but I don't have alot of outlet pressure from garden hose. Only when I plug garden hose with my thumb the pump pressure will only build to 29psi. Once I release my thumb all the water shoots out and pump won't regain pressure unless I block oulet?? Please help.
Due to the laws of nature ( atmospheric pressure and vacuum) a wellpoint pump of 1hp will draw water only if the water table is 25 feet or less measured vertically below the pump. The secret is ensuring that their are no air leaks on the suction side; even a loose joint letting in air will prevent the pump from drawing water. My water table Is about 12 feet below the surface, so I sunk a 20 feet x 20 mm pipe, it delivers about 1300 litres per hour at the outlet. The higher you go above the pump the less will be the flow coming out of the hose. ( Convert litres to gallons by dividing the litres by 3.78.) I can run one sprinkler from this. I did a wellpoint for a friend and got him 2400 litres per hour at about only 12 foot depth; the water table was very shallow. To run a sprinkler system from such a wellpoint, pump from the wellpoint into a storage tank, and connect your sprinkler system to the storage tank via a booster pump. You will have to have a system whereby when you switch on your irrigation system, the Well point starts pumping and refilling the storage tank. You will have to balance this, to avoid the storage tank being depleted. Remember, the enemy of wellpoint suction side is air leaks, and a shallow wellpoint pump can only pull water from max 25 feet vertically below the pump. Place your wellpoint pump as close to the well as possible. Place a non return valve on the suction line just before it enters the pump. Make sure that the slots in the bottom of the suction line that let the water in are covered by biddum, a geotextile, to prevent sand particles being drawn in with the water; this will often prevent the non return valve from working properly, and you will lose prime on the pump. I hope this helps, and regards from South Africa.
I have a rain catchment system (975 gallons above ground) Today I hooked-up the drummond pump to my walking sprinkler and it cycles way too much. Sprinkler works great. Drummond runs, takes a few seconds to get to 50 psi turns off in less than a second, drops to 20, pops back to 50. repeat. What do I need to do? Bladder pressure is 25 psi.
Sorry you are having to deal with that issue. I'm assuming it's either a pressure leak or the pressure switch on the pump needs adjusting in order to correspond with the pressure tank. Can't quite remember what I did being this was years ago, but I remember having a similar problem once I added the tank.
Thank you for the video. Does the pump come with a plug or do you have to wire it yourself? Also did you have to prime it or did it draw water right out of the box? Thanks in advance
You are very welcome. How kind of you to say that. :). It comes with plug but of course you need power to plug it into outdoors. The priming is very simple as it simply requires you pour water into the opening on the top.
I see yet another well seal with bolts removed and not being used. I don't understand why nobody likes to use well seal's to keep their water clean and safe.
The blue tank has a built in gadge where air can be added or released, so there is no need for an actual pressure switch. The pressure is automatically regulated by the amount of psi in the tank. Please let me know if this is what you are referring to. Thanks. :)
@@Remnant144000 it some what does answer it. I'm just confused on how the install guide with the pressure tank tells you how to set it up vs how you have. Maybe its just saying it needs a pressure switch if ur pump does not have one. I go to home depot for the blue pressure tank and it says it requires a pressure switch in the installation guide. But it tells you to wire that switch into the pump to let the green pump know when it needs more pressure. But I feel that would be redundant to have two pressure switches. My understanding of the blue pressure tanks purpose is to store pressure from the pump to supply the house water lines so the pump does not need to run every time you need water. So does the blue pressure tank require electric? Also do you know what psi ur tank delivers to you house? Sorry for the long post. But I plan on basically copying your set up set up. I'm doing an off grid set up with rain water collection. If u have any ideas for me I'd love to hear them! Thank you very much
@@malled1989 you are 100 percent right about the blue tank and it does not require electricity. It comes preset to correct pressure and yes its to save life on the pump from cutting on and off especially with off grid setup.
Hello Greenleaf thank you very much for the video I have I have a well that hasn't been used in probably 6 7 years there's a 2in pipe going down into the ground I tried using a water hose and it collapsed from the suction so I got a stronger water hose wasn't able to go down all the way may be a one foot left seems like the pipe get smaller as it goes down. I get water shooting out maybe every 30 to 40 seconds My question there is a pressure gauge on the side of the green tank are you supposed to feel the green tank up with water and is that pressure gauge supposed to move ?? I never see it move off of 0
will the pump crack in the freeze winter if it out door ??? i bought 1 from Lowes it only last 4 yeasrs then it cracked/ leaked water from the pump ! thank you
Where I am located it more then likely will not. But whenever you have a closed in system that doesn't constantly move you will get swelling. So I would take precautions and double insulate all exposed piping etc.
When the pump motor is above ground and there is only 1 pipe going down to the well, that is a shallow well pump, that is less than 25 feet to the water. There is no way that would work down to 100 feet
you need to have a Pressure Switch for Well Pumps and Brass Check Valve so you don't get overheated, let alone run out of water pressure because all the time running causes the line to the well to dry
It's a very simple wire job from the power cord to the connectors from what I remember. The instructions are included and from a scale of 1 to 10 for beginners I'd give it a 2 or 3. I had no problems connecting it and I'm no electrician.
I’m working on an irrigation system powered by that green Drummond pump.. where did you get that black manifold fitting for the intake between the pump and pvc ?
harbour freight to my thinking is first place to shop. i am just a customer and i really think customers are getting treated fairly a harbour freight with good products.
Actually It only has power going to it when I turn on my grid power to the house. It's not continual power. Just when I am wanting to use it. It maintains prime whether powered or not. Does this make sense.
It holds water and is factory pressurized; however this system is not dependent on the blue tank for pressurization. It does however keep the pump from having to run continuously due to its water holding capacity. The bigger the better for this purpose. I hope this answers your question.
GreenLeaf Natures Solution I have a pump just like it it works awesome. But when i open the water hose it automatically turns on. I was thinking to buy a bigger tank to hold more water but my question is do i need a pressurized tanknor ir can be any tank without the pressure-stat. I can only find them with the pressure stat
@@Acruz1994 I'm no expert, but the purpose of the tank is to hold water, but if there is no pressure coming from the tank then im not sure how it would work. What would trigger the pump to shut off? Maybe a flotation device? It's not the pressure per say that is causing the pump to cut back on, but rather a drop in water level which is triggered by a reduction in pressure. The pump will cut on once the faucet is opened and the water level within the tank drops. But if there is no pressure within the tank I'm not sure what would trigger the pump to stop and utilize the reserve water stored in the tank. If you do not find a certain answer before I do, I'll update this response with a more technical explanation from someone I know who specializes in this.
Hopefully someone can answer this for me. I had a well on my property and just bought this pump. I was seeing that a foot valve in recommended. I believe it’s a filter that’s at the end of the pipe inside the well. Since my pipes are already there, I don’t know if there is something like that installed already. Concrete was placed around the pipes, so I’d hate to break it to pull the pipe out. Do I really need that foot valve to get it to work? I was just hoping to plug in the existing pipes and get some water to use for the grass.
Don't break your concrete - put a check valve either before or after your pump it will keep the water from draining back down the well - just make sure you face it in the right direction.
I've since sold the property, but while I was there it gave me no issues. As long as it's protected and has adequate filling tank to prevent continual cycling i do not see why it wouldn't last.
HI THE LOWS PUMP HAS TO BE CONVERTER TO DEEP WELL PUMP YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE HEAD OFF AND CONVERTED TO TWO PIPE GOING DOWN TO THE WELL AND THE HEAD WITH THE TWO PIPES GO DOWN IN TO THE WELL IF YOU LIKE GO TO HOMEDEPOT VIDEOS HOW TO CONVERT SHALLOW WELL PUMP TO DEEP WELL PUMP. THANK YOU.
If its not holding pressure there is a leak. Is it connected to home yet? If not then the pvc or brass connectors that lead into the tank may not be sealed properply

Thank you so much this was a blessing
You are more than welcome.
Yes I would love to see application too 😊. You could place a tripod there while your working💕
Do it ofto keep priming ,after first time priming
No it should automatically pull from that point onwards without priming unless the water levels became extremely low and the pressure was lost.
Absolutely perfect !!!! I will keep in touch for questions .
Thanks, I've subscribed !!!
It is about 60 feet down to the water table in my well. I am far from the grid and I like it that way and at the moment a little pump like this is all I can afford. I am hoping it will pull water from 60 + feet.
Did you end up getting it to work with a well that deep?
@@alwaysavailabletree5349 no. But it may be that I have a bad foot valve. I had a couple of heart attacks and quadruple bypass so I've not been able to work on it again yet.
@@rodneyslinger6316 Sorry to hear that. Keep on going buddy. Hope you get better.
Your words on God gained my subscription.
He has been wonderful to me. Thank you. 😊
Helpful and thank you. Just wish that it was on another platform as youtube sensors stuff so badly.
You mentioned it's been through a couple of freezes. How did you keep the pipes and the pump itself from splitting open during the freeze?
@DanielDuffySan South GA had mild freezes. Basically Nortb Florida weather. But wrapping in weathering blankets with heating coils work well.
thanks for this. seen these pumps at HF awhile back. its time to buy now so i think ill take a flyer on it
IUs that the 1 hp model?
You are welcome. It's been awhile but it was the 1hp or 1 1/2. Can't quite remember.
So good of a video. How far from the well can I have the pump? If I have a well that’s 30 feet down and 20 feet from that well, will this pump work you think? I’d like to be able to keep the pump in the garage and use it for yard sprinkler, etc
Hi I live in rural California and we deal with PG&E power shut offs and loss of power in the winter time in our only water supply is electricity so I'm wondering how many feet can I use a piping to go on my well my love I deep well but there's no product for this what this work I've got tons of PVC pipe from when my mother-in-law lived on the property looks like the same size you used
Great video and info -! ... how is your off-grid journey going? I am just starting mine!
@HarshHazeStudios it's going very well. Have since relocated but the new homestead is developing well.
Yes submersible it recommended for deep well applications. This pump happened to work well for my application. And it fit my then present budget.
Do you have a tutorial for entire setup I'm new to this, but our city water has high levels of lead, and radon I showed the water department and they said they can't fix it. So I got a well permits approved
Is this a 1hp 5 gal. hardened steel alloy tank
Maximum flow: 950 GPH (gallons per hour)
Pressure switch operation: 30 PSI On / 50 PSI Off
Maximum suction lift: 26 ft.
Stainless steel pump housing
Maximum water pressure: 50 PSI
Thermal protection with automatic reset
Intake and discharge ports: 1 in.
What was you're luck im I. The same process
I really like the pump, how much the TCPrice in 1-set
You mentioned it could be powered by solar... How many watts?
Hi there. Can this pump up 25ft to 1000gal rooftop tank please. I’m looking for something that can do that. Thanks.
How about a foot valve or check valve to prevent water from flowing back to the well?
@@jmalinowski1000 definitely.
Do you have a video or suggestion for your setup for solar on this. I just installed mine and it pumps great, i just don't want to need to take a generator to it daily
Do you recommend that green pump for a rain water harvesting tank running to a greenhouse or do yoi have a better suggestion?
We’re is a pressure switch on this I can’t find it keeps blowing out my top fitting
You are able to pull water from a 100 feet well with this pump?
I have a 60ft well. I was wondering if I could use this pump?
It will do 60 feet. If you can prime it it will pull.
I trying build one myself. Could you show step by step
Bought one installed it, nothing, Has no suction at all. Yes I have put pumps in before and yes I did prime it. Not sure if I want to mess with another one or just go get from some where else. It will not even pull water from a bucket.
Yep, return it.
Is your pump from HD a shallow well 3/4 hp pump it's good to 25 ft. Deep well 3/4 to 1hp pump needed for anything greater with foot valve for good suction . Imho.
Any chance you happen to know the capacitor rating for that Drummond well pump? A surge blew up the capacitor and now it's unreadable.
What kind of solar set-up will you use to just run the pump?
Loved your video. Thank you for your honest info!
If you don’t have a pressure tank any pump will cycle that fast unless you are outputting at full flow.
RAN Institute thanks for getting back to me! I have the power all set up and ready. For the price it looks great, I’m gonna get one and give it a try
@@Jinkinsonsasa please update us how it works out for you. Mine has been great. And you are welcome. :)
Just found this video. Did you ever put the solar
Would this be powerful enough for a water supply for a Tiny home or Cabin, With a shallow 2" well?
It worked well for my 300 sqft structure which was over a hundred feet from the tap.
How much the TCPrice in 1-set of this harbor freight well pump pls
You did plenty with your explanation!! Thank you!
@@YourpainRx very welcome
How the pump work? Its making louder noise or not?
Thanks for this, i wonder about how much in lift you are pulling. how far from pump intake to top of water column?
Anybody know how much power it draws? I couldnt find the watts and I am off grid using only a 2250w generator.. will that be enough?
1200 watts approximately.
I see yet another well seal with bolts removed and not being used. I don't understand why nobody likes to use well seal's to keep their water clean and safe.
Do i need a pressure switch on the well tank(blue tank)? I figure not because the drummond pump (green pump) has a pressure switch built into it?
Also can the drummond pump be drained during winter when not in use
I get water shooting out maybe every 30 to 40 seconds
My question there is a pressure gauge on the side of the green tank are you supposed to feel the green tank up with water and is that pressure gauge supposed to move ??
I never see it move off of 0
3 year old video. Is the pump still working ok man? Thanks for the video!
Update ? Pump still good? I'm shopping around.
Good advice. Thanks!
You are welcome.
Can this pump be used to boost city water pressure?
will the pump crack in the freeze winter if it out door ??? i bought 1 from Lowes it only last 4 yeasrs then it cracked/ leaked water from the pump ! thank you
Where I am located it more then likely will not. But whenever you have a closed in system that doesn't constantly move you will get swelling. So I would take precautions and double insulate all exposed piping etc.
How can I take off the grey hose
What about longevity throughout the winter?
I got me a habor freght well pump but it blow off on the outlet side why is it ?
Praise the Lord Thank you
You are very welcome. Not bad at all for the cost at that time. Don't know what latest prices are.
That comes with the pump, both the pressure switch and check valve.
Thank you
Very welcome. :)
Do the pump Need any wiring? Are it comes ready to go..
It's a very simple wire job from the power cord to the connectors from what I remember. The instructions are included and from a scale of 1 to 10 for beginners I'd give it a 2 or 3. I had no problems connecting it and I'm no electrician.
I’m working on an irrigation system powered by that green Drummond pump.. where did you get that black manifold fitting for the intake between the pump and pvc ?
honeydewbunson It came off the everbilt pump I believe. But that is a common part that can be purchased from any plumbing store.
harbour freight to my thinking is first place to shop. i am just a customer and i really think customers are getting treated fairly a harbour freight with good products.
Do you have to keep the power on 24/7 or is it safe to have this on a timer to turn off/on daily?
Actually It only has power going to it when I turn on my grid power to the house. It's not continual power. Just when I am wanting to use it. It maintains prime whether powered or not. Does this make sense.
I keep mine off for days at a time sometime.
Question, the blue holding tank is just for holding water? You are not using the pressure stat that comes with the blue tank?
Yes it goes on the end of your first PVC pipe that you insert into your well hole. It's a screen brass piece (at least the one I used).
This screens any excessive debris from pulling up into pipe.
Don't break your concrete - put a check valve either before or after your pump it will keep the water from draining back down the well - just make sure you face it in the right direction.
How has the pump held up? I hear the newer China-made ones only last 6-18 months.
I've since sold the property, but while I was there it gave me no issues. As long as it's protected and has adequate filling tank to prevent continual cycling i do not see why it wouldn't last.
faith in God AMEN!!!! new sub. God bless man!
thank you for your words
Very Welcome
HI THE LOWS PUMP HAS TO BE CONVERTER TO DEEP WELL PUMP YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE HEAD OFF AND CONVERTED TO TWO PIPE GOING DOWN TO THE WELL AND THE HEAD WITH THE TWO PIPES GO DOWN IN TO THE WELL IF YOU LIKE GO TO HOMEDEPOT VIDEOS HOW TO CONVERT SHALLOW WELL PUMP TO DEEP WELL PUMP. THANK YOU.
Good night am trying to install one of those pumps put for something reason mine keep and not shutting off.. Can you tell me what is going on?
Does it shut off when all faucets etc are closed off?
It like it not holding the pressure
It starts at 20and shut off at 45. Then keep start up shut down start up and shutting down..
I even put a one-way check valves on it to the exit side
If its not holding pressure there is a leak. Is it connected to home yet? If not then the pvc or brass connectors that lead into the tank may not be sealed properply
