Vice Virga - Great fill maker for drums

  • In an earlier Beat Mangler video I tried out the Jam Jam from Noise Engineering, and had a hard time getting what I wanted out of it. Turns out what I really needed was a Vice Verga. That's arrived, and is clearly the answer to the question: "What if you want some interesting drum fills on a regular basis, but don't want to do it manually?"
I used a 2hp Burst in this patch, but I'm guessing if I read more of the Pam's
manual there's probably a way to do it entirely within Pam's.
Either way, Vice Verga is a great fill maker for drums.

Very cool John. Been looking for a clever way to do interesting fills. You have found a musical one. Thanks

Love the VV, I have one and made a similar patch, it kicks ass. I'm intrigued by the JamJam but can't quite sort where I'd use it based on what I've seen.

    Hi John,
You say the drum sounds come from the C. Rhythm sequencer. But a sequencer is not a sound source so where does the drum sound come from? And if it comes from your sequencer there is a rhythm of the drums already. Then what does the VV do? I dont understand sorry. I thought the VV does the variations and all the rhythm of the drums- (?) Could you explain it with few words pls? I would appreciate it a lot. I just wanna understand the exact patch .So you have: Pam, C. Rhythm , Burst, Zadar, VV. Thx, David

Not the drum sounds, the drum *sequence* comes from the Circadian Rhythms. That's the set of CV triggers Virga is mangling. The drums are all individual modules...some Prok, probably the SSF Ultra Kick, um...I forget the others. But the main thing is that the Circadian Rhythms is outputting a set of triggers, which go into the Virga. Virga then swaps those triggers around between the various outputs (which each go to a different drum) whenever the signal comes in from the 2hp Burst. Make sense?

@@JohnSchussler Thx! Ok! So I have an Eloquencer sequencer (8 channels) and each channel has its own individual CV outputs. From these outs I go to VV INputs then Im good? The Eloquencer would do the sequencing as I programmed and the VV would "mess it up" rigth? In time. Still in tempo. Do I understand well?

@@Molluszk Yup. Well, it would "mess it up" in the sense that each of your outputs get scrambled.
