I love you used the sheet of paper to show how you folded and cut the fabric! It was so much easier to follow than a lot of other skirt tutorials! Thank you :)
These are the most accessible instructions i have seen for a circle skirt. By that, I mean that I understand the math of it(,finally!) Thanks for the clear and simple explanation. I'm subscribing! I'm sprucing up my wardrobe during ramadan after making do in the last few months since Harvey got us.
My grandaughters' class is doing a historical reenactment and we volunteers are helping make the costumes. This skirt is perfect for that!!! Thank you so much...so easy to make!!!! Have a great day! Dianne
YAY Im super tall too....nice to know there are more of us out there that have gone to rely on making our own clothes since stores cater more to average height
#teamtall it really can be hard to find things long enough so we have to make it work. :-) and even if they have a tall selection it's never the cute stuff #thestuggle lol
Yes girl the struggle is so real, I got mad at the gap the other day because they sell long jeans, like 36- 37" inseam, but their workout pants only go to 28-32" inseam....I mean do they not expect that tall people will not work out ???
Please keep doing the tutorials. I tried your DIY super easy maxi skirt and it was my very first time sewing EVER and it came out great.! I'm actually in the process of making this circle skirt now and I'm planing on trying your "How to make a maxi dress" next. Please keep the DIYs coming.! I love it.
Thank so much for this!! I’m Guyanese hindu and wanted to learn to make a lehenga but I don’t know hindi/Punjabi and needed an English tutorial, thank you so much!!
Ive been looking for a cheap long circle skirt but i couldnt seem to find one, and i couldnt find a good tutorial either. THIS IS THE BEST ONE. THANKS FOR MAKING
Thank you! I love these skirts but seem to only find them in exotic or old fashioned patterns that don't flatter my plus size and limit the tops that can be worn with them. Now I can make some in solids and mix and match tops. I love the teal blue one!
I love how you showed us with paper. It makes it so much easier to see and understand. Also, just wanted to say you're gorgeous and that skirt looks amazing!
Thank you so much, it's pi(3.14) times 2 don't ask me why it works but it does. :-) And you would use the same number no matter the waist size unless your not making it with the zipper. If you using an elastic band I would add an inch. Hope that helps. :-)
Thanks you SO much for such clear instructions - the math on the written explanations i was finding online was making my head spin, but now my 3 year old has a gorgeous circle dress and she is completely smitten!
Awesome! I am tall and plus-sized. Sheets are a great idea. I also use bed sheets for curtains. The top of the sheets have that fold that a curtain rod will fit right in. Also used to use bed sheets for the backing for quilts when I did quilting.
Yay, your welcome. I would love to see pics! & omg why have I never thought of using thrifted sheets? The next time I go thrifting I know what I'm getting. :-)
aww alhamdulilah thank you so much and I'm glad you liked the video! :-) I would love to have a few overhead abayas but it's so hard for me to find them long enough. I may need to make one. I like to have casual shoes chasing after my daughter so I try to find ways to be cute and comfy. Plus I just really like chucks :-)
This is exactly what I have been looking for. I am so pleased that you shared your knowledge with the world. Once I give a try with a sheet I will make a skirt for praise dance. Thank you
assalamu alaikum sister im super tall too im 6'1" and finding skirts long enough you know is horrible. honestly its yours and a few other sisters videos that inspired me to make my own clothes. im a revert so im trying to build my wardrobe and im finding that most skirts are coming down to my calves or are super high waters. haha. jazakallah khair. i look forward to more videos! 💖
i clicked on vid when i saw the Leopard skirt and told my self IM GOING TO MAKE IT. but when i saw the blue skirt!... i definitely am going to make that 1st. Lovely done girl, thanks for sharing and yeah i have subbed :)
Aww yay! Thank you so much, I glad you like it. :-) I made the blue one first and deleted parts of my video so I had to re-record(story of my life). Thank you so much for watching and subbing. :-)
love your video, going to buy me some sheet tomorrow and try to make me and my daughter one. I will be follow your direction. The only thing that I hate is that I am on the short side. lol
I just took some measurements for this skirt using your tutorial, and it looks like i'm just short enough that I can use a standard width fabric. :ooo Thank you so much for this tutorial! It was a great help.
+starPLATINUM Great I'm glad it was helpful, here's a video where I used fabric instead of a bed sheet to make the circle skirt, you might find it helpful. Thanx for watching th-cam.com/video/gGWJoQCPRFM/w-d-xo.html
Fantastic tutorial, you make it seem so much less intimidating that I might actually get around to making a circle skirt! I have a pair of jersey (stretch-knit) twin sized flat sheets, 1 red & 1 black, & they're perfect for this project. If I have enough fabric left over, I might add a dress bodice. PS Also your hands are like, insanely elegant.
Great video. I think I may have worked p the nerve to try making one of these skirts. I never thought of the bed sheet idea, that certainly saves a lot of time and trouble. I have a question regarding your methods of calculating the measurements. When you used the number 6.28 in the equation for the waist, can you please clarify what that is for, and do you use that same number no matter what the waist size?
Making mine now, the only bump i ran into was because i bought my fabric from a frabic shop the size of my fabric wasnt wide enough so i had to do some prep work before, other than that its coming along nicely.
Thank you Sis, sorry I'm responding so late, I would do 2 pieces of fabric each a yard and half long. Then sew them together length wise(from there follow the rest of the tutorial) and that should be long enough for you. :-) lol I wouldn't mind being shorter, it would make it so much easier to find clothes long enough. :-)
Thank you so much for this tutorial. It really helped me to make a circular skirt much better and easier, but I did not see the tutorial to add elastic from your site and how to do the measurement for that. I will check you out on FB
This is good...but instead of a bedsheet I found the fabric I need at a fabric store but I have to pay by yard so how do I calculate how much I need to buy?
When u said a bed sheet because ur tall, i was like..YYYEEESSSSS!!!! Finally! 🙌🙌🙌
I love you used the sheet of paper to show how you folded and cut the fabric! It was so much easier to follow than a lot of other skirt tutorials! Thank you :)
This is by far the easiest and best circle skirt tutorial, thank you.
I'm also 6ft tall and plus size and thanks to you my sewing skill went from 0-100 real quick.....😗
This was explained so well....loved that u showed it on paper first 👍🏼
I agree...was about to say the same..
Wow. I really like that you used a paper sheet to show how the skirt should be cut out. This was a really good tutorial, I'm glad I found it. :)

This is the best tutorials I have found for a circle skirt! Thank you, thank you, thank you for explaining it so well and so simply!

Thank you so much for watching! :-) I'm happy it was helpful I always worry that I'm not explaining it well. :-)
I like the way you demonstrated what you did with the piece of paper, very helpful :)
I love it.
I always use sheets for fabric. i get mine at the second hand store for $10. I've made two items from sheets.
Thank so much for this!! I’m Guyanese hindu and wanted to learn to make a lehenga but I don’t know hindi/Punjabi and needed an English tutorial, thank you so much!!

Thank you for the thorough explanation of how to take the measurements in the beginning
This is exactly what I have been looking for. I am so pleased that you shared your knowledge with the world. Once I give a try with a sheet I will make a skirt for praise dance. Thank you
Using a bedsheet is cheaper than buying material not a bad idea!!
Exactly, that's why a bed sheet is one of my fave fabrcis :-)
Nadira037 yes I love this tutorial I have used curtains before to make a dress👍👍
Thanks for posting. A lot of people are making the short circle skirts but I wanted to see a longer one for a costume I'm making. :)

Use bedding for fabric. What a awesome idea.

When you used the number 6.28 in the equation for the waist, can you please clarify what that is for, and do you use that same number no matter what the waist size?
this is like the best exsplanation ever thank you
+Review with Renee awesome, glad to hear it! Thank you Renee!
Thank you
that was very easy to understand. thank you
As Salaam Alakium I love the pink skirt
Thank you! With my height I have to get creative with fabric options ;-)
This was great to see ,thank you..very informative...
Great Tutorial, complete beginner so apologies but where did you get the 6.28 to divide the waist by?
Thank you so much for this tutorial. It really helped me to make a circular skirt much better and easier, but I did not see the tutorial to add elastic from your site and how to do the measurement for that. I will check you out on FB
Very usefull information
This is good...but instead of a bedsheet I found the fabric I need at a fabric store but I have to pay by yard so how do I calculate how much I need to buy?
your tutorials are great!
Assalam Alaikum. really like ur sewing videos.
you have such beautiful hands! nice tutorial :)
I wanted to try to do this but im still wondering that is it comfortable to wear if i use a bed sheet?
If I wanted to make an extra extra, very extra flowing Chifon skirt, what would you do? cut two skirt and sew them together?
Yep she's 2 going on 22 :-) Thank you! :-) I try work at it and stay in shape :-)
