I remember snorkeling off of Maui a few years back. I saw a sea turtle and was hell bent on catching up to it. I didn’t realize how far off the reef I had swam until I looked down and saw nothing but deep blue. I’ve never swam faster back to safety in my life.
Imagine how scary this game would be if it simulated "the midnight zone" in the ocean where the crushing depths and dark waters have a lot of "demonic looking" predators.
I tried loading up Subnautica when I got VR and it was _jank as hell_ to say the least. With playspace moving it might be possible to fix some of the problems, but it looked like VR mode was slapped on wrong as an afterthought. Might be fixed by now, been a few years, but I doubt it. It might be up to technical issues why there isn't one. It'd be a hell of a workout in any case!
@@EdwardHowton you have to play it more like the old hitman VR, using the hmd in order to look around and doing everything else with keyboard or controller. It's less of a VR game and more of a VR experience but I wouldn't call my experience with it janky.
@@heyviper1238 My issue was that for some reason my head was in what the game would normally consider to be the floor. As if I was -10 centimeters tall. Never did figure out why, my height was set up correctly. Actually looking around with the headset is tricky with the Index anyway; get all tangled up and turned around. But I'm glad it works for some people at least.
I agree - this game is fast becoming my best ever standalone VR game (VR game that is purely VR and not a VR option, such as Assetto Corsa). Can't believe how gorgeous it is!
I like that this game just tries to tell you stuff through audio and worry about your air and danger it makes you rely on your instincs a bit more. I hope more games does this insteadof spamming UI all the time😄
Wolf, you should play sharbait vr. It is one of the best vr underwater games i have ever played. The game has quite a different art-style but it is still (in my opinion) one of the greatest vr games out there.
I feel like I need to play this in prone position. Was thinking about getting a weight lifting style bench and laying on that.I might even use it to do some weights on!! 😀
Sorry about all the messages but the flatfish you found is either a fluke or a flounder depending on how many eyes are on the side of the head I believe one eye is a fluke and two is a flounder if I'm not mistaken I may have it backwards but that's how you tell the difference in the two one has one eye on each side and the other has two eyes on one side
This experience is amazing. It's also a bit steeply priced, considering this is just that, an experience. You have merelly 3 zones to explore, and they're not really that big. Plus 4 really small ones. All in one, if you get super into it, you'll find 100% of the stuff in what ... 4 hours ? And that if you want to really comb each centimeter of sand. More realisticly, you'll feel like you have seen all of it in a couple hours. This is super well made, but 25 euros for that is a bit much.
As a scuba diver myself, I would have loved to see my wetsuit and to be able to customize it. Also, to use a dive scooter or simply your fins to move forward instead of constantly waving your arms around, because this is not really scuba diving
I really hope they have many levels it looks like it could be a short "tech demo game" looks fun, but I expect a lot more now after paying and playing too short vr games like Kayak mirage just not enough content to justify the purchase it does look fun tho my favourite underwater vr game is subnautica below zero with the toby vr mod Its so fun to explore subnautica in vr
I bought it and idk... it was $22.50... relatively it's not a lot of content for the price, but there's nothing else like it and it's fantastic. It's the cost of a meal... lol. I'm the same way don't get me wrong, but I think we take price too seriously sometimes. Sometimes the experience is just worth it.. literally you'd spend $25 at a movie theater for 2 hours or 1 hour at a restaurant... its not that bad. This is a solo dev. To me I'd say its worth supporting so we get more gsmes like it. Maybe even an official subnautica vr (I've tried it in vr and it's just not immersive enough imo compared to flat screen).
@@YoBrand15 Its what really makes a game the time if you cheap out on consumers and give them a short experience when they have several other games that they got (on sale) for a similar price it does matter I have several games I bought for 25 bux that I consistently play after 2 years because they have a lot of content if the devs consistently add new areas, biomes, randomized areas so that the 20 hour game gets filled out to a lot more then it will last and ppl will want to invest in their future projects. It looks nice so far, but how much content is the base game going to have is important or you play it once and go back once or twice
@christuusgnosis I think you have to think about it a bit differently though... I agree I have a lot of games that I got for $20-$40 that i played for longer than ill play for subside. However, probably 80% of those aren't one of a kind experiences, or novel ideas. That's the difference here. Yes, content is light. But there is literally nothing remotely close to it in vr. Vr is still in early stages. A game like this could be a gateway to longer experiences if it does well. This is what makes it worth $22 to me. I don't personally need $1 per hour like others do. In fact, I have a bad habit of not finishing games when there is too much content even if it's phenomenal (rdr2 is the best example). I'll end up enjoying this for probably 5-10 hours at least. Less than a few bucks an hour, and overall like I said it's the cost of a meal or movie lol. I just look at it differently
@christuusgnosis I also don't see this as being cheap with consumers... its a solo dev with detailed areas and pretty good physics. It's a passion project which I appreciate
I recorded some Bootstrap Island on Air Link and there was this weird line that would make a double of my controller if I put it on the left, is that why Quest Link is better?
Both are practically the same, one is wired (Link), one ins't (Air Link). Link is generally better due to better visuals (since it doesn't rely on streaming) and at times, better performance (that usually would exist only if your network is crapping itself + general performance hit from streaming stuff). Downside is the cable obviously. You should try Virtual Desktop, a lot better than Air Link in my opinion.

Thalassophobia is named wrong. There is absolutely nothing irrational about being afraid of the depths. It's not irrational, it's not unreasonable, it's not even excessive. Swimming in the ocean is _terrifying_ and that's even if you never dip your head below the water line. I don't like swimming much in any case, but that one time I let myself float for a bit and almost got carried off by the tide to my death and had to swim back as hard as I could through a stomach cramp and barely making headway against the slow pull of the calm water definitely made me realize that _there is nothing irrational about fearing the ocean._

That sounds terrifying. This comment alone can give me nightmares.
Never chase a turtle, they are deceptively cute but they will do serious damage if they feel threatened
Imagine how scary this game would be if it simulated "the midnight zone" in the ocean where the crushing depths and dark waters have a lot of "demonic looking" predators.
Think that the twilight zone would be more appropriate, bc freedivers have actually made it to those depths. Plus it's more biodiverse.
Please do a whole series of this!! Love watching you play this one 😄
