    I got way better results using your facebook ads method, than i ever got when i tried playlist push, myself.

      Yeah its crazy how expensive PlaylistPush is for what you get. With SubmitHub at least its so cheap where it can be nice to blend into a plan that includes FB ads. The ads get me way better results both in volume and quality of data.

    Major props for throwing your money down the drain for us, dude! I am surprised though that you were able to get as many submithub playlists as you did given that the song wasn't new, I've had folks decline on there if one is 4 months old. Anyway, great video as usual!

    Andrew, truly appreciate you brother! I've been in the trenches since 2022 focusing on music full time after leaving my corporate job. After building a pipeline of new releases [dropping now and through Summer 23,] I've been digging into promotion, growth mechanisms, and trying to do it right. It's clear there's a lot of noise out here. You make it easy to understand, put up your own money and music, battle test all of the best platforms, and run through everything from gut checking to regressing data to inform us of what's going on and what to do. Priceless to me. I can't tell you how much it's helped me stay aligned with the right path. More like Andrew Northstar. Peace and love - STAY KEEN

    I think the way to go is growing your own big playlist and exchange for track placements with other curators. Cheaper and more beneficial long term.

      What’s your best way to promote your playlist

    • @staykeenofficial
      @staykeenofficial ปีที่แล้ว

      a short answer doesn't imply simplicity. growing anything takes time and requires resources - you can grow a Playlist, it's followers, likes, etc. or you can grow your own streams directly by engaging playlisters like demonstrated here. Either way, the data is there - super helpful.

      @@fredybony2336 "What’s your best way to promote your playlist"
      I can't say that I know, but you can try promoting it with tweets and reddit threads. If you build like tens of thousands of mutual twitter followers who follow playlists like RapCaviar, and then you tweet out your playlist semi-regularly, then that could be pretty effective. I wouldn't recommend promoting your tweets, as twitter promotion has been a pretty garbage value in my experience.

    Ok, so most of your content talks about using ads to promote your music. Ideally, the goal is to simply build a following and ignore the actual stream count. So my question is, at what point do you realistically expect to just be able to release a song and then have it organically perform and you having to never have to use ads? Or is this something that you feel you will always have to do...?

  • @hydrexUK
    @hydrexUK ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Something else I noticed you didn't point out was it was even more expensive than you say in the video per stream, because one of the playlists which was the top playlist for submithub and one of the best for playlist push was on both platforms, so essentially it was accepted twice to be added once. Nevertheless it is a great playlist, I've been on it too

    A lot of curators want the money, but don't work on their playlist engagement. Pure money grab! They prey on vanity shoppers looking to boost their Spotify streams, but it's not worth much if you don't use the numbers to get gigs.

    i think you will miss a lot of good curators when you set up the level on 10% approval rate. 😁 as a curator there, you know even 5% is a good value. or you can ask yourself. what is your personal approval rate (without shout-outs)? 😅 but anyway - SH won! wondering why that didn't suprise me 😅🙏🏼 great test

    If Submithub is only 1cent per stream, isnt that way cheaper than using facebook ads? I know you get more high quality listeners and streams with Facebook ads, actual followers, but does that even matter much for algorithmic playlists like DW or RR? If you spent 200$ on Submithub and get like 10-20k streams that seems enough to trigger these algorithmic playlists, whereas 200$ on facebook ads for 30cents gets you way less? Idk..?

    • @AndrewSouthworth
      @AndrewSouthworth  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The problem with playlists is after you’re off the playlist you’re mostly back to square one. With ads you’ll get repeat listeners for potentially years since they actually save and follow. This leads to compounding growth. I’m sure you could trigger some stuff with playlists but I’ve only gotten algorithmic traction from ads.
      I think the other issue is the unreliability in timing and amount of streams from playlists. These SubmitHub playlists got me 4,000 streams, but it took 3 months. I’ve had some songs that just do awful in playlist pitching but great in ads and vice versa.

  • @JEOfficialMusic

    Most of those playlist curators are just taking advantage of young up and coming artist. Some of their prices are honestly obscene and the average person just cannot afford to get that type of exposure like that. It definitely feels more like pay to play, but people don't engage with you as an artist as much if they were to find you through Facebook ads.

    Not sure if the claim that you get more streams with a FB campaign checks out - at least not across the board. I did a successful FB campaign using your advice and got 8200 streams for $420 - so $0,051 per stream. I payed on average $0,20 per conversion, so we're talking about a (very) successful campaign. Now the song is at 16k because of DW, so add another 8k 'free' streams to that. So quite similar to your playlist campaigns...
    BUT, and it's a big but, a playlist campaign is demoralising and excruciating, and in my experience nowhere near as successful as your campaigns were in this video - more like $100 spent resulting in 0 streams :-D
    You may think it's about the quality of the music, but in my case, we're talking about music that's gotten playlisted on 'SH playlists' without me even submitting it - in addition to receiving a dozen great reviews on the same kind of blogs and zines. I'm sure I could have done better research and I'm sure it may have to do with genre (I do prog/art-rock), but, I think name recognition may be doing you favours in these playlist campaigns.

  • @brandonwoodward3733
    @brandonwoodward3733 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Im not completely defending playlist push because I 100% agree its too pricey for what you get. With that being said, Ive ran about 3 push campaigns for roughly $500-700 each and got much better results than this each time. Unfortunately, even with a high quality song , your still gambling which is a huge turn off. In what world will someone be inclined to spend X amount of money with NO guanrteed results. Thats madness.

Now if you think its doable with some work AGAIN you're absolutely 100% right! It's simple but its NOT easy. Its consistency and persistency, and never giving up! I recommend a book by a guy named Shad Helmstetter. Its titled " What to say when you talk to yourself" and NO i am not him or affiliated with him either the book was written a long time ago anyways hope this helps PEACE!
