    SEE MORE AT GENTSLOUNGE.COM:
    The RULES:
    - Order appropriately for the bar you are at.
    - Never transport shots or more than 3 drinks.
    - Don't snap wave or tap at your bartender.
    - Have cash or open a tab if you're planning to stay.
    - Buy a round as early as you can.
    - If you want to try something new tell the bartender what you normally like.
    - Experiment at a bar you can afford to not like a drink at.
    - Know what you want if the bar is busy.
    - Speak up if it's loud.
    - Tip your bartender.

    My parents NEVER EVER want me to go to a bar alone, because there are possibilities that I'll get my drink drugged by a mysterious stranger. In June 2022, booze was provided as a celebratory beverage for my coworkers who are part of a commercial real estate company that I work at somewhere in California. The ones who participated in a charity event where running was involved? I avoided it at all times. At least, no one got drunk.

    Sorry but at most "busy" bars on a Friday/Saturday, if you don't set fire to yourself to get attention, you will never get served. I always hear advice, don't wave down the bar tender and at a nicer slower bar that may be true, but not so at most average bars I have been too. Thanks for the vids.

    • @TheRealSvbbyKun_
      @TheRealSvbbyKun_ ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was looking for this comment, i went to a bar for the first time a few weekends ago and it was so packed that waving was the ONLY way to get served. Otherwise, I would've been sober all night🤣

      The drinks I like to order are the Old Fashioned, the martini, and a neat whiskey. These are good drinks to try out when you're just getting started.

    • @seanaguayo
      @seanaguayo 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      AJex War Gaming yeah, and about buying straight whiskies, it's always good to try a different whisky each time. By doing this you get to try out multiple brands, find one you like and which ones you don't. It's better than buying a whole bottle of something you want to try out and then find out you don't like it. Anyone you like allot, make it your go to so you can try a new one then go to your go to after if that new one is not to your liking. Anything above well is perfect for sipping "neat" which is straight, no ice no mixers just a shot or more. If you get a mixed drink, no one knows you're drinking a well, so go for it, but if you want subtle flavor like in the Jonnie Walker Black or even Blue, then be specific but know you're paying for what you ask for. Glenfiddich is about 22$ an oz.
      Some good mixed drinks is whisky soda, Tom Collins, Long island, old fashioned, Jack and Coke, rum and coke, Moscow mule, gin and pineapple.
      Tall is extra juice in a large glass. Double is 2 oz or double the amount of liquor in a drink. Double tall is double liquor, double juice. On the rocks is with ice. Neat is no mixer, no juice, no ice, just liquor.
      Buy a book on mixed drinks. Learn the difference in martinis. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and always have a backup plan

    Another 2 good tips one for the bartender and another for the customer
    Bartender: “Don’t leave your tips lying around on the bar, because some drunk person will think it’s theirs and take it from you”
    Customer: “if you get too drunk get outta the bar before you do something stupid and get kicked out”

    Huh, pay cash? Surely that's the last thing you'd want to do if the bar is busy, much faster to tap a contactless card on the reader than fumble about with coins/bills and have to wait for change.

    • @gentslounge
      @gentslounge  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You must be living in the future. 8/10 bars I go to do not have card readers available for people to even swipe their cards themselves let alone tap for contactless card reading or apple pay.

    Been subscribed for like 2 years, quick question, should you ever mix drinks? Like ordering a jack and coke, then a patron/vodka later? Always seem to start throwing up come the end of the night, not sure if thats that reason lol

    • @gentslounge
      @gentslounge  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some people can handle it and some people can't. If you end up throwing up at the end of the night I'd try sticking to one thing and see how that goes for you.

    • @JulieWallis1963
      @JulieWallis1963 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alex Barreto I will mix my cocktails but stick to gin based (or whatever I start with) I never mix shorts and beer or beer and wine or wine and shots because that way lies madness! I never have hangovers and can’t even remember when I last got sick from drink (over 13 years ago I know)
      It’s good when you recognise that moment, when you need to stop drinking so as you don’t make yourself sick, it’s a step towards adulthood.

    Number 11 IMO If you want to try out something new stick to one fancy cocktail per night not various drinks and mix everything. Otherwise you can't really appreciate the taste of it. And hand in hand goes Number 12: Don't drink too much and don't behave like a mad man.

    • @lullemans72

      it's actually OK to tip people who serve you in europe. it's just not a requirement. people usually leave the change they get from a night out to a restaurant or bar. or in a hotel, you might also get a couple of euros as a receptionist for your service. it's more of a token of appreciation in europe than a mandatory thing like in north america. and as such, tips in europe usually (as far as i know) aren't as high as across the pond. as mentioned above, it'll typically range from a couple of euros to maybe 5. i think tipping someone 10 euros or more would have to be for something really exceptional.

    • @antonvinnik3035
      @antonvinnik3035 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As always it depends on the country and if there is a culture of tipping. And as rule of thumb YOU ALWAYS TIP . Yes its a sing of appreciation and not mandatory and if the service was bad lower your tip. But still all the waiters and bartenders live of tips. Stop spreading bs rumours

    • @SeanDuffyProductions
      @SeanDuffyProductions 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mean, I wouldn't say just don't tip bartenders. You don't need to feel obligated to tip after every drink like they do in the US, but good bars will often have a tip jar and there's nothing wrong with tossing in some change on your way out to thank the staff for good service.

    • @planetX15

      Gopi Bachatero It isn't compulsory to tip in Australia anyways, but it is appreciated though.
